WhenWho
00:00:03TimWelcome back adventurers to session five of our ongoing journey into the Dragon's Delve, a dungeon of danger, mystery and ancient power. Our heroes press deeper into the labyrinths, twisting corridors, facing new perils and uncovering secrets long buried beneath the earth. So grab your dice, ready your spells and join us once more as we descend into the Dragon's Delve
00:00:32GM - DaveYou're perfectly welcome to try to kill as many NPC's
00:00:35Jestix - Timso long as you get about 320 experience.
00:00:38Mistress Fria - HowardIt's a really interesting one, that you guys talking about Lawful Good is actually, Fria In my mind, is chaotic neutral, but at the moment, she wants the party to be organised because that's what's keeping her alive. It's really interesting to see how Vulf is playing a chaotic, just barbaric, going and kick everything and just do it out of impatience, whereas Fria is not impatient, but she is chaotic. And at the moment, I would say I'm playing more true neutral, or even slightly, apparently, lawful neutral, or even chaotic neutral. You can argue about these things forever, and people can and do. They had debates in which they killed people in the Middle Ages over that sort of thing. It's nice to hear that you guys debate, so what's the word, carefully and politely.
00:01:41Vulf - Pete BIt's only a game, after all.
00:01:42GM - DaveRight guys, if I remember rightly you have just killed a scorpion here.
00:01:48Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, we've killed baby scorpions, and there was scuttering from other places.
00:01:54GM - DaveThere's noise from down this corridor that way and from this way, that way and down that way.
00:02:02Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, so we have ominous maw scorpions. They're not impossible to kill, but they're very dangerous, but they're very dumb. So I think we've set up a scorpion slaughterhouse. What do you think, guys?
00:02:16Jestix - TimIt's encouraging them to come to us, but then there's stuff both ways, so whatever we do will potentially encourage stuff in both directions.
00:02:23Mistress Fria - HowardWell, maybe we go back to where we killed mum, and we put a small blockage and we kill them with a missile.
00:02:29Jestix - Timi.e. you.
00:02:30Mistress Fria - HowardIf anyone can use a bow, we have a bow and twelve arrows.
00:02:33Jestix - TimI can't use a bone.
00:02:34Lómeril - PeteI think I can.
00:02:35Mistress Fria - HowardMr Lómeril, I would be surprised if an elf fighter couldn't use a bow. I believe we have a masterwork.
00:02:41Ahumstut - JamesElves get automatic proficiency with bows.
00:02:45Mistress Fria - HowardWe could get a few old tables. I don't think I've seen that much furniture.
00:02:51Ahumstut - JamesAnd a longsword for that matter.
00:02:53Mistress Fria - HowardBuild a barricade and somehow attract them to us and just slaughter them.
00:02:58Jestix - TimOr we could just go one way or the other and see what's there. Don't assume.
00:03:02Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, how about I sneak down
00:03:05Jestix - TimThat's a good idea. That's what you're here for.
00:03:07Mistress Fria - HowardI sneak down towards APN.
00:03:10GM - DaveIt's dark, I can tell you that for
00:03:12Mistress Fria - HowardThese guys have some light, so I would say this is in the penumbra of low light, and I have low light vision.
00:03:19GM - DaveYou can probably make out a scorpion -like creature there.
00:03:23Mistress Fria - HowardOne or two?
00:03:24GM - DaveIt seems to be a singular.
00:03:26Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, I walk carefully back. There appears to be a scorpion in that room. Shall I go and have a look at the other one?
00:03:31Vulf - Pete BYeah, go for it.
00:03:32Mistress Fria - HowardI pause briefly by this door to examine it.
00:03:35GM - DaveAs I only rolled a 10, Howard, I'm not going to make you roll a stealth, but you might want to consider it.
00:03:40Mistress Fria - HowardWell, we did just kill its brother with lots of yelling, grunting, and smashing. So if it didn't notice that and come out, it shan't have been noticing me creeping up and having a look at it.
00:03:51GM - DaveThat's why it needed to get quite high, it's not that bothered. you're creeping down here, yeah?
00:03:56Mistress Fria - HowardI examine that door briefly, and I peer around the corner.
00:03:59GM - DaveYou think round the corner there's another one there, and it doesn't look like it's actually paying an awful lot of attention, and no, it's not.
00:04:06Mistress Fria - HowardAnd what about the corridor going north?
00:04:09GM - DaveThe corridor turns east. Just there it turns east, okay?
00:04:14Mistress Fria - HowardGo back, tell them. You've got one on either direction. If we are unlucky, they will all attack at once. If not, we take them one at a time. The one down here looks like it's boxed in. It has no escape, whereas the other one, the corridor goes on. I think we'll take the boxed in one first, because there might be more than one if we go to the one at APN.
00:04:36Jestix - TimYeah.
00:04:37Mistress Fria - HowardWhat do you think, guys? I could start proceeding by shooting it with a crossbow and retreating until you can get it into a position where you would be happy to flank it. For example, and I'm just going to use my character, if we had a small ambush here, we could then attack it from two sides.
00:04:57Jestix - TimYeah. Works for me.
00:04:58Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, so I will be bait. Who wishes to be ambushed in the corridor?
00:05:03Ahumstut - JamesI will be bait. Famous last words.
00:05:06Vulf - Pete BI look on his face as though, hmm, quite impressed by all this strategy.
00:05:10Mistress Fria - HowardMr. Poole, would you like to take the front centre, or would you want to ambush it?
00:05:16Vulf - Pete BFront, centre.
00:05:17Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, I will attract it and shoot it, and then I will retreat back past you, keeping its attention, and I hope greatly that you will assist it from not eating me.
00:05:31Jestix - TimLómeril, where do you want to be?
00:05:33Mistress Fria - HowardAmbush or front dead centre?
00:05:36Lómeril - PeteDead centre with a bow so I can get a shot off.
00:05:39Mistress Fria - HowardOkay.
00:05:39Vulf - Pete BI'll have my hand axe and my throwing axe ready to, if he comes around the corner, to chuck at it.
00:05:43Mistress Fria - HowardI sneak up to just where I can see it, and I try my best surprise attack with a crossbow to shoot it. I take all the time in the world to aim and smack it. Hopefully, someone ever hurts. Are there any bonuses for sort of taking aim?
00:05:58Vulf - Pete BNo, but you might be able to, you can probably get a sneak on it, though.
00:06:01Mistress Fria - HowardCan I use my rogue sneak?
00:06:03Ahumstut - JamesJust has to be not acted / flat-footed.
00:06:07GM - DaveYes, you have to have done a stealth up to it.
00:06:09Mistress Fria - HowardI can stealth.
00:06:10Vulf - Pete BWithin 30 feet.
00:06:11Mistress Fria - HowardSo I will stealth up. That is what it requires. Oh, fuck it. I'm not very stealthy, but then I'm bait. So that's fine. I accidentally drop something very loud as I'm breaching.
00:06:23GM - DaveYou get to about there, it
00:06:24Mistress Fria - HowardA natural one, and it sees me, and I then run.
00:06:27GM - DaveThen scutters, scutters, scutters in your general direction, and then we'll roll initiatives.
00:06:31Mistress Fria - HowardMy initiative.
00:06:32Vulf - Pete BCan I have a readied action? When he comes around the corner to throw my axe, is that reasonable?
00:06:37GM - DaveInitiative guys?
00:06:39Mistress Fria - Howard4, I'm rolling badly today. Get the crap ones out.
00:06:43GM - DaveLómeril got 17, so
00:06:45Lómeril - PeteYep.
00:06:45Jestix - Tim10.
00:06:46Vulf - Pete B23.
00:06:47GM - DaveJestix was 21. So tell me what's Jestix?
00:06:50Jestix - Tim10.
00:06:51GM - Dave10, and 23 for Vulf. Okay, so Vulf is actually going to go first, and then you go on to hold, or whatever, delay, readied action.
00:07:00Vulf - Pete BYeah.
00:07:00GM - DaveNext to go will be the Scorpion itself, who can
00:07:04Mistress Fria - HowardIt's going to close on me.
00:07:05GM - Davemove eight squares.
00:07:07Ahumstut - JamesIt's a speedy boy.
00:07:08GM - DaveIt will get right up to Freya, and then go for the attack, and I believe Vulf wanted to do something.
00:07:14Mistress Fria - HowardSmack it, please.
00:07:15Vulf - Pete BYeah, throw my axe.
00:07:16Mistress Fria - HowardI cocked up the sneak. This is where the game mechanic pain.
00:07:20Vulf - Pete BRoll a d20, you see what I get. It's gonna be around 13, possibly less.
00:07:24GM - DaveAC 13,
00:07:25Vulf - Pete BYep.
00:07:26GM - DaveYou need to do better than that.
00:07:27Vulf - Pete BOkay, when it bounces off, it's a chitinous armour, then, I guess.
00:07:30GM - DaveOkay, well, it will do
00:07:32Mistress Fria - HowardChitinous armour, well done.
00:07:34GM - Davea singular claw attack against you because it's moved.
00:07:37Mistress Fria - HowardOopsie.
00:07:38GM - DaveLuckily, I've already just rolled the 20, but it rolled a 19, so I think that is probably going to be a hit, because your AC would need to be 21.
00:07:46Mistress Fria - HowardMy AC is 13, I'm afraid.
00:07:48GM - DaveIt will do you 4 points of damage,
00:07:51Mistress Fria - HowardOuch.
00:07:51GM - Daveand a grappler attack was hit with a claw STR modifier DEX modifier for grappler check, whichever is better.
00:07:57Mistress Fria - HowardMy DEX would be better. Opposed roll
00:08:00Ahumstut - JamesOpposed grapple roll. Yours is based on STR though.
00:08:03Mistress Fria - HowardDoing STR.
00:08:04Ahumstut - JamesIt's always STR but because he's got the scorpion's got the improved grab feat they can use either STR or DEX.
00:08:10Jestix - TimScorpion can do either, you can't.
00:08:12GM - DaveAnd I think as it's just got 21…
00:08:14Mistress Fria - HowardI can't actually do better than 21, I don't think. I got a 16. I got minus 1. I did well, but not very well.
00:08:21GM - DaveRight, so you have been grappled. It actually makes no difference at this moment in time, just as I said, you have to try to escape. Next go, if you're still grappled, it just gets auto-damage on you.
00:08:33Mistress Fria - HowardI'm not actually pulling it back into our killing zone.
00:08:36GM - DaveLómeril
00:08:37Lómeril - PeteOh dear, the boss is being waved around like a- Like a flag.
00:08:41Jestix - TimThat's a flag, saying shoot, shoot.
00:08:44Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, I am saying shoot.
00:08:45Lómeril - PeteShoot the hobbit.
00:08:46Jestix - TimYeah, it's a gnome.
00:08:47Lómeril - PeteTry to shoot the scorpion. That was a 17, so I think I can get plus 2. That's 19. I don't know if it's a- What is it? Is it a normal bow or a master bow?
00:08:58Jestix - TimMasterwork.
00:08:59GM - Daveyou another plus 1.
00:09:00Lómeril - Pete20. What damage does it do?
00:09:02Ahumstut - JamesMinus 4 firing into combat / grappling.
00:09:06Jestix - Tim16.
00:09:07GM - Dave16, still hit, still hit.
00:09:09Lómeril - PeteIs there a size penalty or a size benefit? Because it's a gnome in the claw of a giant scorpion.
00:09:14Ahumstut - JamesIt's just a straight negative.
00:09:16Lómeril - PeteHow much damage for an arrow?
00:09:17Vulf - Pete BEr, what bow is it?
00:09:18Mistress Fria - HowardLong.
00:09:19Ahumstut - JamesD8.
00:09:19Vulf - Pete BD8.
00:09:20Lómeril - Pete1.
00:09:20Jestix - TimTickled it.
00:09:21Lómeril - Pete1 point of damage.
00:09:22GM - DaveJestix.
00:09:23Jestix - TimWell, it hasn't arrived yet, so I don't yet know that it's all gone hideously wrong
00:09:27GM - DaveYou might have heard the squeak of Fria, though. Okay, so you've got to stay on hold for the moment.
00:09:31Jestix - TimYeah.
00:09:32GM - DaveFria, you can try to escape, which would be an opposed grapple check, or escape artist, if you've got it.
00:09:38Mistress Fria - HowardGood question. I don't think I have escape artists.
00:09:40Jestix - TimWhat a thief with no escape, artist.
00:09:42Mistress Fria - HowardEscape artists I have plus 2. And if it's opposed STR, I'm at minus 1 So I'll use my plus 2 escape artist.
00:09:49Ahumstut - JamesIt's an opposed. The opponent uses grapple. Use either grapple or escape artist.
00:09:55Mistress Fria - HowardAnd I'll use escape artist. I don't think I have a grapple at all in terms of skill.
00:10:00GM - DaveYou do have a default grappler, but it's not really very good.
00:10:03Mistress Fria - HowardA 15.
00:10:04GM - DaveOh, and it gets a 3, so it's got a 5, so you make it, and you wriggle out.
00:10:09Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, I wriggle out. And if I can use… Can I use my move without attacking? Can I back off 5 feet?
00:10:16GM - DaveI think so.
00:10:17Mistress Fria - HowardThat is the plan. I'm backing off as fast as I can. Well, quite frankly, if I can break off and run at this point. Without attracting attention.
00:10:26Jestix - TimAttack of opportunity.
00:10:27GM - DaveI think if you do a full move, you do provoke.
00:10:30Mistress Fria - HowardI will do a full move. If I get a full move, I do…
00:10:34GM - DaveYou provoke an attack of opportunity, but I think if you make a five-foot step, you don't.
00:10:38Mistress Fria - HowardThen a 5 foot step is fine. I'm trying to stay alive here.
00:10:41Ahumstut - JamesWithdrawing means that the square on doesn't count towards the thing.
00:10:47GM - DaveYes, but you can't withdraw, because that's a full round. That's what I mean. You have to use his attack to escape.
00:10:52Mistress Fria - HowardSo it's just a 5 foot.
00:10:54Jestix - TimYeah.
00:10:54Mistress Fria - HowardI get nearly to the corner.
00:10:56GM - DaveI would think that Jestix might be able to see the fact that Freya is coming this way now, but I would imagine she's still going to stay on hold, aren't you?
00:11:05Jestix - TimYeah, because it looks like the plan might be working.
00:11:07GM - DaveSo, next round. Vulf
00:11:09Jestix - TimFria was obviously just trying to attract his attention.
00:11:11Mistress Fria - HowardOh God, I did that. I was pretty damaged before we started. Leased to all.
00:11:15Vulf - Pete BI charge forwards and attack the creature.
00:11:17Mistress Fria - HowardThank you. Not quite the plan.
00:11:19Vulf - Pete BI want to try and hit this thing to dissuade it from going after the cute and fluffy little gnome.
00:11:23GM - DaveFria, you can have an attack of opportunity against Vulf as he runs by.
00:11:26Mistress Fria - HowardHe did call me cute. My hand might have to take him out for that.
00:11:30Vulf - Pete BI've seen the picture. Definitely cute.
00:11:32Jestix - TimBut I'm not sure about Fluffy.
00:11:33Mistress Fria - HowardBut the hair is pretty fluffy.
00:11:35Vulf - Pete BYeah, pretty damn fluffy. 2, 15, 17 to hit.
00:11:39Mistress Fria - HowardThat'll hurt.
00:11:40Vulf - Pete B10 damage.
00:11:41GM - DaveOkay, it's still there. It is grievously hurt, but it's still there. Okay, it's now the scorpion's go, and there seems to be an individual who can do its full round against, so it will. Joy, Pete. Have… oh, that'll be a hit, so that'll be 19, probably.
00:11:55Vulf - Pete BEr, well, I've got an AC of 17, so I'm suggesting it's probably gonna hit.
00:11:59GM - DaveSo that's one claw. The second claw misses you, and it'll try to sting you,
00:12:04Vulf - Pete BNot sting me…
00:12:05GM - Davethat's only 1, so it's a miss.
00:12:07Vulf - Pete BHurrah!
00:12:08GM - DaveYou get a claw, 5 points of damage, and then it'll try to grapple you with its claw, which will be a 18.
00:12:16Vulf - Pete BI'll have to make a grapple check, they say.
00:12:18GM - DaveYeah, it successfully got you.
00:12:20Vulf - Pete BIt beats my grapple. I get 9.
00:12:22GM - DaveOkay, so you're currently in its claw, and its soulless, beady eyes stare at you
00:12:28Vulf - Pete BDumb beastie.
00:12:30GM - DaveLómeril, 17.
00:12:31Lómeril - PeteDrop the bow, grab up the longsword and run down the passageway to get help.
00:12:37GM - DaveOne, two, three, four, five, six.
00:12:40Vulf - Pete BShould be able to have an attack.
00:12:41GM - DaveYes, I would think so. You could probably do a charge together, because
00:12:44Vulf - Pete BWell, providing you move 30… Does Lómeril move at 30 or 20?
00:12:48Lómeril - PeteIt's a very good question, where's move on the character. 20 because of my armour, I imagine.
00:12:54Jestix - TimYeah, so he won't get there.
00:12:56GM - Daveyou'll need to take a move action to draw, so you won't be able to get…
00:13:00Vulf - Pete BNot if you've got an attack bonus of 1 or higher. You can do it as part of a move action.
00:13:05GM - DaveOh, okay, so then you can do a double move, which can do a charge.
00:13:08Vulf - Pete BOh yeah, I suppose so.
00:13:09Ahumstut - JamesNo, there's people in the way. You can't charge through anyone's square.
00:13:13GM - DaveOkay, so you can't get there. I'd say you can get there, but you can't charge.
00:13:18Lómeril - PeteOkay.
00:13:18Mistress Fria - HowardOnly a little, gnome.
00:13:20Lómeril - PeteI'll get there.
00:13:20Ahumstut - JamesPlace could shove prayer aside.
00:13:22GM - DaveAnd you can have an attack, yes.
00:13:24Lómeril - PeteWhat if I kick the boss out of the way?
00:13:26Mistress Fria - HowardPerfectly reasonable.
00:13:26Lómeril - PeteI'll charge up, take like a step off the gnome.
00:13:30GM - DaveBank shot. Okay, Jestix, you go next, and you probably now see two of your compatriots run past.
00:13:36Jestix - TimIn which case, I'll come around the corner, see what's going on, because obviously the plan's gone pear-shaped.
00:13:41Mistress Fria - HowardYeah.
00:13:41Vulf - Pete BUtterly.
00:13:41GM - DaveI don't think there's anything you can actually do, is there?
00:13:43Jestix - TimNo.
00:13:44GM - DaveNot unless you can tumble through people.
00:13:46Jestix - TimI can tumble, but I'm not going to. I'm not very good at tumbling.
00:13:49GM - DaveFria.
00:13:49Mistress Fria - HowardApart from the fact I just been push out of the way. Can I shoot at it?
00:13:54GM - Daveminus 4.
00:13:55Mistress Fria - HowardNo, it's not worth it. These two have got their backs to me. Can I stamp between them? and Colour spray it. Because it just hurts.
00:14:02GM - DaveYeah, but I think you'd need to make a spellcraft roll, just to make sure you don't include your compatriots.
00:14:07Jestix - TimThat would be very bad. Possibly terminal.
00:14:09Vulf - Pete BVery funny, though. So how did the campaign end, then?
00:14:12Jestix - TimThe gnome colour-sprayed the fighters while they were in combat.
00:14:15GM - DaveConsidering this is the first time Fria has done this, the party may wish to acquire some dark sunglasses.
00:14:21Mistress Fria - HowardThis is not the first time I've done this.
00:14:24Jestix - TimYeah, that's what he said. Or break her fingers.
00:14:26Vulf - Pete BThe Tim approved method.
00:14:27Mistress Fria - HowardGuys, incoming spell. I'm spraying him. It's only a 9. Probably not enough for a spell casting roll. It wasn't a cock-up, but it wasn't Excellent.
00:14:37GM - DaveI think that means your compatriots are included.
00:14:40Ahumstut - JamesWill saves for everyone.
00:14:42GM - DaveI think it's reasonable to give them a bonus on their will saves, as they are not technically looking in the same direction.
00:14:48Mistress Fria - HowardI'm firing from their kneecap at it and something in front of it.
00:14:51GM - DaveI give you plus 4 on your will saves.
00:14:54Jestix - TimAnd that's the problem. Instead of going forward, you're going up.
00:14:56Mistress Fria - HowardSo plus 4 at… So which roll do I…
00:14:59GM - DaveNo, you don't.
00:15:00Ahumstut - JamesIt's the other.
00:15:00Jestix - TimThey have to make a plus 4 willpower.
00:15:03GM - DaveYou've got a DC by your spell.
00:15:05Vulf - Pete BWillpower, saving throw, Ay. Er, yes, the natural enemy of the barbarian.
00:15:09Jestix - TimYes.
00:15:10Lómeril - Pete12.
00:15:11GM - DaveI think you probably made it peak.
00:15:12Lómeril - PeteIf I get plus 4.
00:15:13GM - DaveIf that hadn't got the plus 4 in it.
00:15:15Mistress Fria - Howardfor warning.
00:15:16GM - DaveWhat's your Howard? Do you know what it is?
00:15:18Mistress Fria - HowardDC 15.
00:15:19Vulf - Pete B15?
00:15:20Lómeril - PeteFail then.
00:15:20Ahumstut - JamesHow's it 15?
00:15:21GM - DaveThat's pretty good.
00:15:22Vulf - Pete BFor a first level spell? Good lord, man.
00:15:24Mistress Fria - HowardI'm quite good.
00:15:25Ahumstut - JamesOh yeah, because gnome. They're good at illusions.
00:15:29Jestix - TimSo you've just taken the front line of fighters out. Have you taken…
00:15:32Mistress Fria - HowardLómeril got 16. He rolled 12 and got plus 4.
00:15:34Lómeril - PeteNo. 12 total.
00:15:36Mistress Fria - HowardAh.
00:15:37Lómeril - Pete3.
00:15:37Mistress Fria - HowardDamn. Have I taken out the scorpion as well?
00:15:39GM - DaveHe's just knocked you unconscious again, I think.
00:15:42Lómeril - PeteYeah, well done.
00:15:43Ahumstut - JamesWait, how many hit dice?
00:15:44GM - Dave2.
00:15:44Ahumstut - JamesI'm conscious for D4.
00:15:46GM - DaveWhat about Vulf?
00:15:47Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, the scorpion's the one I'm worried about.
00:15:49Jestix - TimHe's unconscious as well. He failed.
00:15:50GM - DaveThey both failed.
00:15:51Vulf - Pete BWell, I did roll a natural 1.
00:15:53Mistress Fria - HowardOops, I'm not good at this am I.
00:15:55GM - DaveSomething tells me that you lot might want to have a talk with your gnome. Right, it's a two-hit dice creature, so it falls unconscious, too.
00:16:01Jestix - TimIn which case, I will go in and kill it while stamping on the gnome what
00:16:04Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, kill it. Make sure it's utterly dead and then I bring the boys round.
00:16:07GM - DaveI'll roll some damage, Tim.
00:16:08Vulf - Pete BIf you're doing a coup de grâce, you should get critical damage, and it has to make a saving throw.
00:16:12GM - DaveDoes he not have to roll to hit?
00:16:14Vulf - Pete BNo.
00:16:14Jestix - TimWhat is critical damage. Double damage?
00:16:16Vulf - Pete BYeah, it's because of only a weapon, but you often double, but it can be more…
00:16:19Jestix - TimQuarterstaff.
00:16:20Vulf - Pete BYeah, double. So it doubled everything, so it doubled his strength as well.
00:16:23Jestix - TimYeah. 8, 16.
00:16:24GM - DaveIt is dead, and it failed its saving throw.
00:16:26Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, I bring the boys round with a glass of wine
00:16:29GM - DaveA few rounds later, 4 rounds later, you two wake up, but then there's a couple of rounds of blindness, isn't there?
00:16:34Ahumstut - JamesCouple rounds of blindness, d4, then stun for a round.
00:16:38Vulf - Pete BI can't see!
00:16:39Mistress Fria - HowardIt'll come back in a moment. Scorpion's gone.
00:16:41Jestix - TimWhile they're moaning, I'll go and have a look around the room Scorpion was in.
00:16:44Mistress Fria - HowardI'll look after them and just keep an eye for the other scorpions coming out behind us. And also grab the mule just slightly closer. And we slain some boys. I let a grenade off.
00:16:55Jestix - TimAgain.
00:16:55Mistress Fria - HowardAgain.
00:16:56Vulf - Pete BWhoa, that was really bright.
00:16:58Jestix - TimUnfortunately, the gnome isn't.
00:17:00Mistress Fria - HowardThe gnome has two hit points.
00:17:02Jestix - TimYeah, So you should have gone the other way.
00:17:03Mistress Fria - HowardI don't back down, that easily. It had riled me, gentlemen. I'm sorry. I hope that your heads recover in a moment. Have more beer.
00:17:11Vulf - Pete BAll's well that ends well, I suppose, but yeah. Maybe not do that again.
00:17:15GM - DaveOkay, Jestix, it's reasonably obvious that this piece of corridor here is a newer construction than the one you have just left.
00:17:25Jestix - TimYeah. This is original complex. This is something someone's added on more recently,
00:17:29GM - DaveYes.
00:17:30Jestix - Timbut there aren't any doors in there.
00:17:31GM - DaveNo. There is a mosaic showing
00:17:33Jestix - TimMosaic. What's it a mosaic of?
00:17:36GM - Davea vague humanoid shape on the floor.
00:17:38Jestix - TimCleaning it up a bit while I'm waiting.
00:17:40GM - DaveThe figure seems to be a kind of crude bear with kind of insect bits.
00:17:46Jestix - TimA crude bear with inset bits.
00:17:48GM - DaveYeah, like insect wings.
00:17:50Jestix - TimOh, right. Insect.
00:17:52GM - DaveBut it looks a bit like a giant kind of crude bear with insects. Kind of mandibles things.
00:17:58Jestix - TimOh.
00:17:59Vulf - Pete BSort of a bear covered in some sort of bug thing.
00:18:02GM - DaveYes.
00:18:02Vulf - Pete BBear bug, perhaps.
00:18:04Mistress Fria - HowardNot an owlbear.
00:18:05Jestix - TimBugbear.
00:18:05GM - DaveYes, something like that. It does look a bit weird.
00:18:08Mistress Fria - HowardOwlbears are more beaky.
00:18:09Jestix - TimMore owl-ish.
00:18:10GM - DaveDo you by chance have stone-working or knowledge of dungeoneering?
00:18:14Jestix - TimNo.
00:18:14GM - DaveSo, that's it.
00:18:15Jestix - TimYeah. Okay. And then I'll come back and wait for Fria to explain to my companions why she shot them in the face.
00:18:21Vulf - Pete BActually, it wasn't in the face.
00:18:22Ahumstut - JamesHe was in the back.
00:18:23Mistress Fria - HowardIn the kneecaps.
00:18:24Vulf - Pete BWhilst they were defending her from the beast.
00:18:26GM - DaveThere's a large amount of some kind of big prawn-like creature that could probably be very tasty.
00:18:32Vulf - Pete BExtra eating tonight, lads.
00:18:33Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, cook it up well. Supplement the rations.
00:18:35GM - DaveOkay, so you two come around, your eyes start to readjust.
00:18:39Vulf - Pete BI'll spend the requisite time just to get used to life again, and finish parading Fria. Don't need to do that too many times. Say, one of you priestly types, or woodlandy types, got any curing? Have you used it all up today?
00:18:51Jestix - TimUsed it all up today, I think.
00:18:52Lómeril - PeteOh, I still got some.
00:18:53Mistress Fria - HowardThose claws were big.
00:18:55Vulf - Pete BYou look even worse than I do, and I don't feel well.
00:18:57Lómeril - PeteGet 8 point's back.
00:18:59Vulf - Pete BOoh, thank you. Feel re-energised.
00:19:02GM - DaveWhat would you like to do next, guys?
00:19:03Jestix - TimWell, there's another one at the other end. Why don't we send a gnome to colour spray it first?
00:19:07GM - DaveAh, the alternative strategy.
00:19:10Vulf - Pete BThat does sound quite good, but… Can't afford to have a being eaten.
00:19:14Mistress Fria - HowardNo, I certainly can't afford to be eaten again. I'm rather unwell.
00:19:19Vulf - Pete BWe can make a noise and see if we can attract it around the corner, and then shoot things at it until it dies.
00:19:24Mistress Fria - HowardThat would be ideal. We have just made quite a bit of noise. I don't think they're hearing, so I think we just throw something down there to attract its attention and shoot it as it approaches.
00:19:35Jestix - TimGnome throwing?
00:19:36Mistress Fria - HowardHave you realised anything about the dangers of suggesting that?
00:19:41Jestix - TimNo. I know the dangers of everything being around gnome's , it doesn't make any difference. I've seen it repeatedly. He keeps shooting the fighters in the face.
00:19:49Vulf - Pete BDo you have colour spray? Not colour spray, dancing lights.
00:19:51Mistress Fria - HowardI do.
00:19:52Vulf - Pete BGood. Well, I suggest if it doesn't react too much to noise, maybe some dancing lights might attract it. And if we all stay here-ish, we can then A. ambush it, and B. shoot things at it. So if we send the dancing lights down to here,
00:20:04Mistress Fria - HowardI'm just getting over my anger at the monk at the moment. If you get set up, I'll be with you in a moment.
00:20:11Vulf - Pete Bway you don't have to go down there.
00:20:12Mistress Fria - HowardI take a moment and I put the dancing lights. I can move the lights, can't I?
00:20:17Vulf - Pete BYes, that's one of the advantages of them.
00:20:19Mistress Fria - HowardSo I shall put them as far down here as possible to attract it into sight and illuminate it.
00:20:25Vulf - Pete BAnd then bring it back up again.
00:20:26GM - DaveYeah, that's quite reasonable. I think it comes
00:20:29Mistress Fria - HowardI don't have to bring it towards us. Once it's in range and illuminated I will try and keep it where it is. If it sees us and advances, I will keep it illuminated.
00:20:38GM - Davearound the corner, and what are you lot doing?
00:20:40Vulf - Pete BThrowing things at it.
00:20:42GM - DaveOkay, so you're not hiding or anything like that.
00:20:44Jestix - TimI am hiding, because I haven't got anything to throw at it.
00:20:47GM - DaveVulf is here. Lómeril, where are you going to be?
00:20:50Lómeril - PeteWhere I was.
00:20:50Jestix - TimBut then you can't see it's shooting it, probably.
00:20:52Lómeril - PeteWell, I'm assuming he's going to rush up that tunnel in like one round. The last one moved really fast, so I'm just not going to bother.
00:21:00GM - DaveIt'll be in the centre of view straight away, yes.
00:21:03Lómeril - PeteYep.
00:21:03Mistress Fria - HowardThat's if it seises. If I can keep it moving around down there for a round, distracted, I shall.
00:21:09GM - DaveOkay, so we use the initiative we've already got. So Vulf, you can go first.
00:21:13Vulf - Pete BI'm going to wait for it to get a bit closer. It's a bit too far for me to throw it. Readying it when you get to 10 feet away, lob.
00:21:19GM - DaveIt'll be somewhere there, won't it?
00:21:20Vulf - Pete BOkay, when it comes into closer range, lob.
00:21:23GM - DaveOkay.
00:21:23Vulf - Pete B16 to hit.
00:21:24GM - DaveThat's a hit.
00:21:25Mistress Fria - HowardBefore it gets close range, the other guys with prepared actions might be able to shoot it as well before then. As long as we all shoot it.
00:21:33GM - DaveActually, that's a good point. I would suggest you all got prepared actions, so yes.
00:21:37Mistress Fria - HowardThe moment it's in range for Lómeril or… does Jestix have a range weapon?
00:21:43Jestix - TimNope.
00:21:44Vulf - Pete BOkay, Dave, I did 6 damage with my throwing axe.
00:21:47GM - DaveWe'll go in order of initiative. So Vulf, then it will be Lómeril.
00:21:52Lómeril - PeteAre you saying I can have a bow shot and then be ready for close combat immediately?
00:21:56GM - DaveYes.
00:21:57Lómeril - PeteOkay.
00:21:58GM - DaveThis is your delayed action from the previous round.
00:22:01Lómeril - PeteAll right, that's what I did. so 17.
00:22:04Jestix - TimThat's a hit.
00:22:04Lómeril - PeteThat's 8 points of damage this time.
00:22:07GM - Davedead. Good strategy this time, and you got it.
00:22:09Vulf - Pete BHigh five the elf.
00:22:11Mistress Fria - HowardI shall wander and examine that door.
00:22:15GM - DaveThis door? A reasonably large, ornate, double door. It's quite old, but it's a better quality and newer than most of the other doors you've seen so far.
00:22:26Mistress Fria - HowardDo we want to go and check out things that lair? Just cases, guys? Or shall we go to the door and do the lair later?
00:22:33Jestix - TimDo the lair now, because we've already cleared it.
00:22:35Lómeril - PeteYep.
00:22:35Mistress Fria - HowardI'll sneak down to there and have a look.
00:22:38GM - DaveOkay, and you find some remains of creatures, but nothing else.
00:22:43Mistress Fria - HowardI like the idea of a double door. A corridor going up in every direction.
00:22:47Vulf - Pete BAnd a suspicious-looking mosaic over here, apparently.
00:22:49Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, I saw that. It looks like some sort of bear. I will check if it is locked and check for traps.
00:22:56GM - DaveYes.
00:22:56Mistress Fria - HowardNot necessarily in that order.
00:22:58GM - DaveYou're on which you're going to be first.
00:22:59Mistress Fria - HowardThis is detect traps. So this is just a search. Natural 15. I think that's a 20. That's not very good, actually. It's trap working.
00:23:09GM - DaveYou don't detect any traps.
00:23:10Mistress Fria - HowardThen is it locked?
00:23:12GM - DaveThere's a keyhole.
00:23:13Mistress Fria - HowardOh, we've got some keys. Have… Lómeril, did you keep the keys? Who had the keys?
00:23:17Lómeril - PeteI don't remember having keys.
00:23:19Mistress Fria - HowardWe found some keys in one of the earlier rooms and somebody picked them up. Maybe it was Jestix.
00:23:25GM - DaveOr you.
00:23:26Mistress Fria - HowardOr me. They were on high hook. So I don't remember it being me but if it was me, then I will try the keys.
00:23:32GM - DaveNone of these keys fit this keyhole.
00:23:34Jestix - TimNot on my list.
00:23:35GM - DaveIt does look quite an ornate hole. So it looks like it would take in an ornate key.
00:23:40Mistress Fria - HowardOkay. But is it locked? It has a keyhole but is it locked? Give it a very gentle push.
00:23:46GM - DaveThe door moved.
00:23:47Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, I think it's open, guys. I'm going to back off and let you guys explore. I back off and cover them with my crossbow. So I'm currently at the corner covering them with a crossbow.
00:23:58GM - DaveOkay, who's opening the door? Vulf?
00:24:01Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, I'll open the door. Best make sure everybody's ready.
00:24:03GM - DaveThis chamber is lit by a continual flame spell on the ceiling. There seems to be the sound of movement in this room, but you can't see what it is. It's quite a large room, which I'll fill in in a second. 2 massive square pillars, almost 10 feet by 10 feet, support the centre of the ceiling of this wide chamber. Beautiful silk curtains draped from the walls, and equally lavish woollen carpets, red and gold, adorn the floors.
00:24:30Mistress Fria - HowardLavish carpets.
00:24:31GM - DaveThroughout the chamber, old but serviceable wooden furniture can be found. There's a divan here, a bureau there, wardrobe.
00:24:39Mistress Fria - HowardSome of the first furniture we've seen.
00:24:42GM - DaveYeah, a massive sumptuous bed, a marble bathtub,
00:24:46Mistress Fria - HowardMy sort of place.
00:24:47GM - Davesilver-plated rack for hanging towels. The place is spick and span clean, and it doesn't feel like anyone lives here.
00:24:55Mistress Fria - HowardAn unseen servant. Sounds almost like an illusion to me.
00:24:58Jestix - TimWell, you're the expert on said things.
00:25:00Vulf - Pete BPeer around for these movement, this movement, see if I can see what made me suspicious about movement.
00:25:07GM - DaveComing around the pillar, about when you were saying, what's that movement? You see a dumpy kind of Potato thing on wheels, holding a feather duster.
00:25:16Mistress Fria - HowardAnd not unseen servant.
00:25:18Ahumstut - JamesIt's a seen servant.
00:25:20Mistress Fria - HowardRelax, Hello.
00:25:21GM - DaveIt doesn't say anything.
00:25:22Vulf - Pete BWalk towards it.
00:25:23Mistress Fria - HowardThat could be what's keeping a former wizard's lair Spick and span, but watch it carefully.
00:25:28Vulf - Pete BYep, wander in. I'm trying to ascertain what it is a bit more. Is it some sort of summoned demon-y thing?
00:25:33Mistress Fria - HowardA spell of some sort.
00:25:35GM - DaveWell, it's a kind of floating thing with wings, so it could be demon-y, yes.
00:25:38Mistress Fria - HowardPotato thing.
00:25:39GM - DaveYes, it's a kind of clumpy kind of thing with wings. Now you look a little bit closer, it has tiny little horns.
00:25:47Jestix - TimIt's an imp.
00:25:48Vulf - Pete BImp's, you usually think of it being dumpy.
00:25:50Mistress Fria - HowardKnowledge arcana?
00:25:52GM - DaveYes
00:25:53Mistress Fria - HowardCan you know what it is? Or spellcraft? Too see if I can see what sort of spell it is.
00:25:57GM - DaveSomeone could make a roll yes.
00:25:59Mistress Fria - HowardIs it knowledge arcana or something?
00:26:01GM - DaveYes.
00:26:01Vulf - Pete BLarval stage of the Sontarans, perhaps.
00:26:03Ahumstut - JamesWhat?
00:26:04GM - DaveSontarans. It's a
00:26:05Jestix - TimDoctor Who reference.
00:26:06Mistress Fria - HowardOnly an 11 on my spellcast.
00:26:09GM - DaveNo, you don't recognise all this.
00:26:11Mistress Fria - HowardI've not seen one of those.
00:26:12GM - DaveKnowledge dungeoneering, if anyone's got that can have a roll.
00:26:16Mistress Fria - HowardKnowledge engineering?
00:26:17GM - DaveDungeoneering.
00:26:18Vulf - Pete BSuch a creature, my bardic knowledge.
00:26:20GM - DaveYes, you could try Bardic Knowledge.
00:26:21Vulf - Pete B13, I think.
00:26:22GM - DaveNah, that's not quite enough.
00:26:24Vulf - Pete BNew to me.
00:26:24GM - DaveIt doesn't pay any attention to you. It just kind of potters around the room.
00:26:29Mistress Fria - HowardWell, in which case, let's go and have a look around.
00:26:31Lómeril - Petevery ungraciously charge into the room and leap full spread onto the bed.
00:26:38GM - DaveOkay.
00:26:39Lómeril - PeteDo a big flop, then realise it's a mimic and scream.
00:26:42Jestix - TimOr an illusion, and go crashing to the floor.
00:26:44Vulf - Pete BDave looks up bed of devouring.
00:26:46GM - DaveThere is lots of furniture in here, basically. It's a room is full of stuff.
00:26:50Mistress Fria - HowardI think we get everyone in, close the door, and we search the place.
00:26:52Vulf - Pete BYep.
00:26:53GM - DaveThe creature just potters around the room, dusting, doesn't seem to take an awful lot of notice of you lot.
00:26:59Mistress Fria - HowardThat's why it's Pristine in here. He left an unseen servant on tickover. Love the flames on the roof, like it being in a barbecue.
00:27:06Ahumstut - JamesUnseen servants only last an hour a level.
00:27:08Mistress Fria - HowardI suggest we carefully search the place.
00:27:10Vulf - Pete BYeah, see who might have lived here.
00:27:12Mistress Fria - HowardClose the door, save on oil. This is going to be a good base for operations. Beds and baths, places to sit.
00:27:18Vulf - Pete BAnd cleaning thing.
00:27:19Mistress Fria - HowardI've still got this hobbit's ring to examine.
00:27:22Lómeril - PeteVenturing party honey trap.
00:27:24Mistress Fria - HowardIt is.
00:27:25GM - DaveCleans up poo, the mule's just done. Okay, search the room, mate.
00:27:29Mistress Fria - HowardYes, quite frankly, if we feel safe, I'm even tempted to break out with a bit of rations and rest, because we still don't quite know what the ring the hobbit did. We've got some magic items that haven't yet been determined.
00:27:42Jestix - TimBut haven't you already had a go at the ring?
00:27:44Mistress Fria - HowardI'm trying to remember if I have and failed or whatever.
00:27:47GM - DaveOkay, so you come in here, close the doors, potter around, search the place. What's the level of searching you've been doing?
00:27:52Mistress Fria - HowardDetailed. Take 20.
00:27:54GM - DaveOkay, so you're going to take 20, and it's going to take quite a long time,
00:27:58Ahumstut - JamesAn hour.
00:27:59Jestix - TimI'm just going to wander around aimlessly and poke at things. Doing a normal, just a roll.
00:28:04GM - DaveYeah, so we'll have three or four search rolls from Jestix, and if you get a high number, you might see something. We'll have a search roll from Lómeril, just because, and Vulf.
00:28:15Vulf - Pete BWolf is also researching, but same as Jestix. You know, just poking around.
00:28:19GM - DaveSo maybe 4 search rolls, and if you get anything reasonable, tell me.
00:28:23Mistress Fria - HowardCan I take 20?
00:28:24GM - DaveYes, but it basically is going to be a few hours searching at that rate.
00:28:28Jestix - TimI got an 18 and a 17.
00:28:30Vulf - Pete B18 was my highest.
00:28:31Lómeril - Pete18 for me.
00:28:33Mistress Fria - HowardI think the silver ring we found was magical.
00:28:35Jestix - TimNo, it wasn't.
00:28:36Mistress Fria - HowardWith a small sapphire, approximately 50 gold.
00:28:39Jestix - TimWe didn't think it was, because it was tarnished.
00:28:41GM - DaveOkay, Jestix.
00:28:42Mistress Fria - HowardYes.
00:28:42Jestix - TimYes.
00:28:43GM - DaveLying on a tabletop is a flat wooden box inlaid with mother-of-pearl inscribed with a floral design. It's a writing box. Lifting the lid, you see a sheet of very fine vellum.
00:28:54Jestix - TimTake it out.
00:28:55GM - DaveThree small bottles of ink, blue, black and red, and six very usable quill pens.
00:29:00Mistress Fria - HowardWow, That's better than mine.
00:29:02Jestix - TimIs there anything written on the vellum?
00:29:04GM - DaveNo.
00:29:04Mistress Fria - HowardThat almost makes it more valuable in my book.
00:29:07GM - DaveOkay, Vulf, underneath the bed, you find a blue velvet bag about the size of a man's head, a large roll of very fine silken thread. It's light beige colour and pleasant to the touch.
00:29:20Vulf - Pete BNot really my colour. Added to the mule of carrying.
00:29:24GM - DaveLooks like you could knit or spin it into something.
00:29:27Vulf - Pete BWell, someone could.
00:29:28GM - DaveSomebody could.
00:29:29Mistress Fria - HowardIt might be ideal for a magic spell of some sort, so
00:29:32GM - DaveIt's quite fine quality, but it's not anything.
00:29:36Vulf - Pete BYeah, so you can make a fancy dress or something out of it.
00:29:39GM - DaveYep.
00:29:39Mistress Fria - HowardProbably quite a large… To actually weave with it would be But yeah, that's good for… I'll detect magic.
00:29:45GM - DaveYep, we'll deal with that in a moment. Lómeril, you find a hollow plaster statue of a fat merchant laughing. You rattle it a bit and there's some coins in it and you find that the bottom can just plug and comes out and there's 12 gold coins in it.
00:30:01Ahumstut - JamesIt's a piggy bank.
00:30:02GM - DaveAnd it's got three pea-sized green stones.
00:30:05Lómeril - PeteAdd it to the party
00:30:06GM - DaveI hope somebody's documented that, Howard.
00:30:08Mistress Fria - HowardWhat was that last treasure?
00:30:10GM - DaveIt's a hollow plaster statue piggy bank of a fat merchant with big ears.
00:30:16Mistress Fria - HowardHas it got anything in it?
00:30:17GM - DaveYes, it's got 12 gold coins and three pea-sized green gemstones. It's about six inches or so high.
00:30:24Mistress Fria - HowardI suggest that we all just take 4 gold just to have in our pockets, just case. It's not enough so that we have to hoard it. So there's 12 here, 4 of us. Let's just split it up.
00:30:34Vulf - Pete BAlright?
00:30:35Mistress Fria - HowardI won't put that in party treasure. That's for individuals who are
00:30:38GM - DaveOkay, so yes, the room is sumptuous. There are pots and pans for cooking, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious place to cook. Although there's a nice bath, there doesn't seem to be any obvious place to water to come out.
00:30:50Mistress Fria - Howardexpected magically to be able to create a
00:30:52GM - DaveYep.
00:30:52Mistress Fria - Howardwizard of some sort.
00:30:54GM - DaveOkay, so you're doing a detect magic. Is that before or after?
00:30:58Mistress Fria - HowardAfter I've done my search, I've finished my search.
00:31:01GM - DaveWhat is your search, plus 20, Howard?
00:31:04Mistress Fria - HowardI think it was a 26. Double check. No 25. It's going to take a while to search this thing. To do a fingertip search of this place is going to take a while.
00:31:15Jestix - TimI hope that bed is very big.
00:31:17Mistress Fria - HowardWe've got continual lighting. Just around the corner there was some edible meat. You've got chaise longues and divans to lounge upon. Quite frankly, I'm feeling well and truly beaten up. So an hour or so of quiet would be quite useful.
00:31:33GM - DaveRight, you search the room starting around the outside, as you probably would.
00:31:38Mistress Fria - HowardMythologically.
00:31:39GM - DaveAnd eventually you get to the pillars and you discover that this pillar has a secret slider panel.
00:31:47Mistress Fria - HowardCheck it quickly for traps so I open it.
00:31:50GM - DaveOkay, a trap roll.
00:31:52Mistress Fria - HowardGod, my rolls are crap tonight. Oh no, it's not. That's 20.
00:31:55GM - DaveOkay, you don't think it's trapped,
00:31:57Mistress Fria - HowardI open it. I examine it carefully and think, wow. It's a lovely piece of hiding.
00:32:03GM - Daveit seems that there's a round secret door on it and you twist it round a bit and then it opens. There is a key.
00:32:11Mistress Fria - HowardIs it a big ornate key?
00:32:13GM - DaveNo, but it is distinctively different other ones you could have got.
00:32:17Mistress Fria - HowardOkay. I assume everyone's just lounging around bored by now. I'll show them what I've found and I look to see if there's anything else in it.
00:32:24GM - DaveIt is ornate. It looks the similar sort to the big door here, but it's not that one.
00:32:31Mistress Fria - HowardCool. Ok, well I pocket it.
00:32:33GM - DaveA piece of paper written in common with some words on it. if you want to pay attention to yet.
00:32:39Mistress Fria - HowardI will definitely read that.
00:32:41GM - DaveOkay, it's describing a blue steel door between a room you've not been into and the moon pool room. Okay, and it says the password is Desitan.
00:32:54Ahumstut - JamesThat's Desitan.
00:32:55GM - DaveDesitan, thank you.
00:32:56Mistress Fria - HowardI'll note that one down.
00:32:58Vulf - Pete BWhich is the moon pool room, Dave?
00:33:00Mistress Fria - HowardWhen we first came in, isn't it?
00:33:02GM - DaveI don't think you were here for that, bit.
00:33:04Vulf - Pete BOkay.
00:33:05GM - DaveYou remember the stairs coming down?
00:33:07Vulf - Pete BYeah.
00:33:08GM - DaveIf you go east, there was a room there with it in.
00:33:10Vulf - Pete BOkay.
00:33:11Mistress Fria - HowardDo we find any other treasures.. There's a lot of loot-able stuff in here if we were to really loot.
00:33:18GM - DaveAnother piece of paper written in another language. Anyone want to tell me any languages they read?
00:33:24Mistress Fria - HowardDwarfish
00:33:25GM - DaveNope, it's not dwarfish. Anyone could speak any other languages? Sorry, read and write?
00:33:29Mistress Fria - HowardCommon, dwarvish, elvish, gnome, goblin.
00:33:32GM - DaveNo.
00:33:33Jestix - TimCommon Druid.
00:33:34GM - DaveNo.
00:33:34Vulf - Pete BCan't find the languages.
00:33:35Ahumstut - JamesBarbarians aren't supposed to know languages.
00:33:38Vulf - Pete BYeah, I can speak common.
00:33:39Lómeril - PeteDraconic.
00:33:40Vulf - Pete BBarbarian bard, sorry, I'm not a bit of it.
00:33:42GM - DaveSo Pete was Lómeril?
00:33:44Lómeril - PeteCommon, draconic, elven and goblin.
00:33:46GM - DaveIt's Draconic.
00:33:47Mistress Fria - HowardExcellent.
00:33:48Lómeril - PeteWow. Yeah, interesting. Go back to sleep.
00:33:51Jestix - TimI thought you'd be reading the cleric book.
00:33:53Lómeril - PeteI'm enjoying having a bed. I'll go back to reading the book when I wake up.
00:33:56GM - DaveYou know it's Draconic, but you can't bother to look it up. No problem. There's also another kind of crudely staked together pieces of paper, you know, like when people stick a hole and they put string through.
00:34:05Mistress Fria - HowardNotes, yeah.
00:34:06GM - DaveYeah, there's a whole raft of odds and sods of random pieces of sized paper all written in either common or Draconic, and it contains things like, remember to get bat's wings, milk and eggs.
00:34:18Mistress Fria - HowardI will look through them just in case there's any further clues.
00:34:21GM - Dave16 round to-its, and basically it's just a long list of various things. Remember to, all sorts of rubbish like that. It's a pile, doesn't seem to have any relevance to anything.
00:34:31Mistress Fria - HowardAnd he keeps these in a secret compartment.
00:34:34GM - DaveYeah.
00:34:35Mistress Fria - HowardWeird.
00:34:35GM - DaveA potion bottle, a scroll.
00:34:37Mistress Fria - HowardWith potions?
00:34:38GM - DaveThere's two potion bottles in fact, and a scroll.
00:34:41Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, does anybody want to have a look or shall I carry on evaluating these?
00:34:45GM - DaveCould you roll me a appraisal roll?
00:34:48Mistress Fria - HowardI'm not the best at appraisal but yes, that's a 9.
00:34:53GM - DaveOkay, you'd think some of the furniture in this room probably could be quite valuable, but you wouldn't even hesitate to say, How much?
00:35:01Mistress Fria - HowardIt could be looted.
00:35:02GM - DaveYes, the sum of the furniture in here definitely is sell-able quality.
00:35:06Mistress Fria - HowardIf I had enough money for the water I'd buy that bath.
00:35:09GM - DaveOkay, so now we've got… Are you going to detect magic when you… The two potions and the scroll are magical, but nothing else in this room apart from the creature floating about.
00:35:20Vulf - Pete BDoes that include stuff on each of us as well?
00:35:23GM - DaveSo if your carrying is magical, then yes, I would imagine it pings up.
00:35:26Mistress Fria - HowardDoes have the ring ping. I thought the ring pinged.
00:35:28GM - DaveYes, it does. It is definitely magical. I don't think you've done a detect magic on it before.
00:35:32Jestix - TimNo.
00:35:33GM - DaveIt is magical.
00:35:34Vulf - Pete BIt is magical, do you say?
00:35:35GM - DaveIt is magical.
00:35:37Mistress Fria - HowardIt'll take a while to work out what I think these potion bubbles scrolls are but now is the safest time. We've got a bed, we've got food, we've got flames. I'm going to do it unless we are desperate to move on. And also, is anybody able to give me a cure because I'm starting to feel like shit after being shaken around like that.
00:35:55GM - DaveI believe you'd get to roll a spellcraft roll on the magical things you spotted to see what sort of schools they are.
00:36:01Mistress Fria - HowardYou can't take 20 on a spellcraft. You just have to roll them.
00:36:04GM - DaveYou've got the ring, you've got two potions, and you've got a scroll.
00:36:08Mistress Fria - HowardSo let's do the ring first. It says spellcraft and is it something I take 20 or do I have to roll?
00:36:14GM - DaveYou have to roll for it.
00:36:15Mistress Fria - HowardThat's a 10 plus 5 on my spellcraft 15.
00:36:19GM - Dave15's not enough.
00:36:21Vulf - Pete B15 plus spell level.
00:36:22Mistress Fria - HowardIt is magical but we don't know what.
00:36:24GM - DaveYes, it's faintly magical.
00:36:26Mistress Fria - HowardI'd put it on.
00:36:27GM - DaveYou put it on, okay.
00:36:28Mistress Fria - HowardUnless anyone else wants it.
00:36:30GM - DaveSo it wasn't a ring, was it? It was a bracelet.
00:36:32Jestix - TimYes, the ring was tarnished.
00:36:34Mistress Fria - HowardThe ring was tarnished, there's a bracelet.
00:36:36Jestix - TimAnd I've got the bracelets.
00:36:38GM - DaveYeah, but you still thought that was right. You hadn't done a detect magic on it.
00:36:41Jestix - TimNo. I put the bracelet in my pocket, because everybody was going, oh. And we did do a detect magic on it. We'd detected magic, but we failed the spellcraft, and nobody's willing to do anything, so I just shoved it in my pocket.
00:36:51GM - DaveRight, okay, so that's that done.
00:36:53Mistress Fria - HowardPotions?
00:36:54Vulf - Pete BA 25 on the spellcraft check. So unless you've got plus 5.
00:36:58Mistress Fria - HowardI have plus 5 but I would have to take 20.
00:37:01Jestix - TimBut you can't. You only get one shot at it per level or something.
00:37:05Mistress Fria - HowardWow, so I have very little chance on 25 to really work out what it is.
00:37:10Jestix - TimYou'll identify one in 20 items.
00:37:12Mistress Fria - HowardYep,
00:37:13Ahumstut - JamesI think you're able to take 20 on potions.
00:37:18Mistress Fria - HowardI should like to because that's about my only chance of success.
00:37:22Vulf - Pete BTry again, see about this. Okay, some of the spellcraft things, it says no retry. But for identify a potion, it requires one minute, no retry. There you go. So therefore, it'll take a minute, you get a roll, and that's it. You don't get to take 20.
00:37:35GM - DaveOkay, so go for it.
00:37:36Mistress Fria - HowardPotion number 1? That's crap, that's a 4 so it's a 9. Not a hope unless it's really easy and it's written on the outside.
00:37:44GM - DaveNo.
00:37:45Mistress Fria - HowardAnd the number 2? I'm rolling so crap. That's a 1. I roll a natural 1 on potion number 2
00:37:51GM - DaveOkay, so you don't recognise either of those, and then there's the scroll.
00:37:54Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, is the scroll something I can take 20?
00:37:57Ahumstut - JamesYeah, you used read magic.
00:37:59GM - DaveWhich is a zero.
00:38:00Vulf - Pete BWithout using read magic, and that's 20 plus spell level.
00:38:03Mistress Fria - HowardHave read magic.
00:38:04GM - DaveYou just know, I think, innit?
00:38:06Vulf - Pete BI think so.
00:38:07Mistress Fria - HowardIt's a 0 level spell. I take one of my 0 level tokens and I read magic.
00:38:11GM - DaveI'm just double checking, but I think you can just read it.
00:38:15Vulf - Pete BSeems what it is suited for.
00:38:16Jestix - TimYeah, it says, read spells and spellbooks.
00:38:19GM - DaveAllows you to recognise glyphs of warning. Any symbols?
00:38:24Mistress Fria - HowardIt's a scroll that allows me to identify glyphs of warding.
00:38:27Ahumstut - JamesNo, read magic does.
00:38:29Mistress Fria - HowardOh, okay.
00:38:30GM - DaveBeing able to recognise glyphs of warning is actually something you should consider.
00:38:34Mistress Fria - HowardWhat's the spell?
00:38:35GM - DaveIt is a scroll of blur.
00:38:38Mistress Fria - HowardBlur, Excellent.
00:38:40Ahumstut - James20% mischance.
00:38:41Mistress Fria - HowardCan anybody use magical scrolls? Can anyone do it? It needs abilities.
00:38:47GM - DaveIt's an arcane scroll, if I remember rightly, and so you can read it.
00:38:52Mistress Fria - HowardIt's in my ability to set it up and use it on me. Is it me or someone else?
00:38:56Ahumstut - JamesI think it's touch.
00:38:57GM - DaveSo level 2 spell, so by default you can't actually cast it without a spellcraft roll, if I remember rightly.
00:39:04Ahumstut - JamesCaster level check.
00:39:05Mistress Fria - HowardI'm only 1.
00:39:06GM - DaveYes, you can cast it, but you need to make a roll to cast it.
00:39:10Jestix - TimIf he fails the roll, there's a scroll fade.
00:39:13Ahumstut - JamesI think the scroll gets wasted.
00:39:15GM - DaveYes, I think it does.
00:39:16Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, well there you go guys, a magical treasure. You can probably sell that for a lot.
00:39:21GM - DaveIf cast on someone, grant subject concealment, 20% mischance.
00:39:26Mistress Fria - HowardI'll hang on to it just in case I need it. On people leaving concealment mode, I suspect I will but unless anyone actually wants it.
00:39:35Vulf - Pete BIt's the sort of thing that's useful in a fight.
00:39:36Jestix - TimThe problem is, the rest of us probably can't cast
00:39:39GM - DaveIt doesn't make you harder to see, Howard. It makes you harder to hit.
00:39:42Mistress Fria - HowardExcellent.
00:39:42Jestix - TimSo it's the sort of thing you would cast onto one of the fighters while standing behind them, rather than at colour screen.
00:39:48Mistress Fria - HowardThat might work, yep.
00:39:49Vulf - Pete BYeah, I will be able to cast it at some point. I just can't cast it yet.
00:39:53Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, so I will hang on to that one for later use and that's about it. Considering such a rich room, it's disappointing, little money.
00:40:04Vulf - Pete BUseful spell those.
00:40:06Lómeril - PeteRight.
00:40:06Mistress Fria - HowardWe've rested and whatever.
00:40:08Lómeril - PeteI'm going up to the gnome. I'll say, shut your eyes and receive a blessing.
00:40:13Mistress Fria - HowardOkay.
00:40:13Lómeril - PeteI'll cast Cure Light Wounds by poking my two fingers into her eyes. Jab. Heal
00:40:21GM - DaveStop blinding me!
00:40:23Lómeril - Pete7, No, sorry. 8.
00:40:25Mistress Fria - HowardOw! Thanks.
00:40:29Vulf - Pete BI've heard it tell, oh mighty priest, that there are those amongst you who are able to exude an area of warmth and curative powers on a few occasions per day. Would you be one of those priests?
00:40:43Lómeril - PeteNo.
00:40:44Mistress Fria - HowardTalking of which, there was that almost edible meat which we saw from the other room. You go and collect that and carve it and check it in the light.
00:40:53Vulf - Pete BDo you have turn undead? A certain number of uses per day.
00:40:57Lómeril - PeteYes.
00:41:00Vulf - Pete BThen you might want to read up on that.
00:41:01Lómeril - PeteI might now want to read up on it.
00:41:05Vulf - Pete BYeah, channel positive energy, it should be. And that means that there's usually two ways you can use it. One to blast undead, and one to cure your fellow compatriots.
00:41:16GM - DaveI don't think that happens in this. That's a Pathfinder special.
00:41:20Vulf - Pete BIs it?
00:41:21GM - DaveI think it is a nice Pathfinder mod, but it's not in.
00:41:24Mistress Fria - HowardGuys, we've rested, we've eaten.
00:41:28Lómeril - PeteYou can have an extra 4 hit points. I'll use my zero levels to give you,
00:41:32Vulf - Pete B4 hit points. Thank you.
00:41:34Mistress Fria - HowardShall we go and explore onwards?
00:41:37Lómeril - Petesince you're the major meat shield on the party.
00:41:39Vulf - Pete BCertainly the one who flings himself into the most danger.
00:41:41Lómeril - PeteYes.
00:41:43Mistress Fria - HowardWhat stands in front of the gnome? It's the most dangerous part of the party as far as I can see.
00:41:48Jestix - TimAs far as I can tell, it doesn't matter where you stand around the gnome. It's dangerous.
00:41:51Mistress Fria - HowardSeems fair. So, shall we crack on?
00:41:55Jestix - TimWell, there's this door here we haven't been through yet.
00:41:57Mistress Fria - HowardI was thinking exactly the same thing. Shall we go and investigate those Jestix?
00:42:02Jestix - TimYep.
00:42:03Mistress Fria - HowardI might have to call you Madge.
00:42:05GM - DaveOkay, so you open the door, yeah?
00:42:06Jestix - TimI don't care what you call me, so long as you don't colour screen.
00:42:10GM - DaveOkay, right guys, I would suggest a listen check might be useful at this moment.
00:42:15Mistress Fria - HowardAs I said, we're expecting a few more scorpions.
00:42:18GM - DaveIf you've got a listen skill, roll a d20, now.
00:42:21Vulf - Pete BWe all have listen skills.
00:42:22Mistress Fria - HowardOh God, that's my third 1of the evening.
00:42:26Vulf - Pete B7.
00:42:27Jestix - Tim8.
00:42:27GM - DaveNo.
00:42:28Lómeril - PeteEr, wait, wait, wait. Oh, yeah, I screwed that one up.
00:42:32GM - DaveOkay, so all of you fail.
00:42:33Mistress Fria - HowardWe just stumble out
00:42:36GM - DaveOkay.
00:42:37Mistress Fria - Howardignoring the fact that there's probably hundreds of things out there.
00:42:39GM - DaveUnbeknownst to you, a whole pack of rats have been munching away at this scorpion. They hear you lot come round the corner and are swarming towards you at this moment in time.
00:42:50Mistress Fria - HowardBig rats, small rats.
00:42:51GM - DaveTiny little rats gets a big swarm.
00:42:54Mistress Fria - HowardI suggest we get back behind the door.
00:42:57GM - DaveSo we'll have some initiative first, shall we?
00:42:59Mistress Fria - HowardThey do have a long way to run.
00:43:01GM - DaveOh yeah, you might be able to escape.
00:43:03Mistress Fria - HowardAnd they're only little.
00:43:04Jestix - TimBut there's lots of them.
00:43:05Vulf - Pete BAnd they're all in full scurry mode.
00:43:07Mistress Fria - HowardActually, that doesn't mean they can run fast. They're just more dangerous.
00:43:12Jestix - Tim5.
00:43:12Lómeril - Pete14.
00:43:13Mistress Fria - Howard19.
00:43:14GM - DaveVulf.
00:43:15Mistress Fria - HowardNo, sorry, 18.
00:43:16Vulf - Pete BI got 8.
00:43:17GM - DaveLómeril.
00:43:18Lómeril - Pete14.
00:43:18GM - DaveBasically, they will get to go first. I'm going to use this creature for it.
00:43:23Mistress Fria - HowardEven with me on an 18.
00:43:24GM - DaveYou didn't notice them Howard. So they basically rush towards you lot. They're going to go three squares. So actually, they get to there. You notice them, then they continue down the corridor another three squares. Why are you all in the corridor? You're all in the corridor, so yeah.
00:43:40Mistress Fria - HowardWe were. The idea is that we
00:43:42GM - DaveYeah, but you've got a leg back. Now it's back round to ordinary rounds. Fria goes first on 18.
00:43:48Mistress Fria - Howardisn't a way I can do the rats with a colour tree without getting somebody else's there, from where I'm standing.
00:43:56GM - DaveYes, you can. You can move forward and do it.
00:43:58Mistress Fria - HowardIf I move right next to Vulf. and spray them, I'm not going to get Vulf and the guys.
00:44:05GM - DaveNo.
00:44:05Mistress Fria - HowardThis is an ideal use for it. I shall blast them.
00:44:09Ahumstut - JamesYes, you appear to be a bit too trigger happy.
00:44:11Mistress Fria - HowardI am definitely This is one of the reasons I left my gnomish village.
00:44:17Ahumstut - JamesThey were too scared of you.
00:44:18Jestix - TimHe kept blinding everybody.
00:44:21Mistress Fria - HowardI wanted to blow this stuff up and have as much fun. I'm not just sitting there making stuff with my hammer. Bugger that.
00:44:28GM - DaveFreya goes to here.
00:44:30Mistress Fria - Howardyep, there's my first level spell token Dave sitting out in the middle.
00:44:34GM - DaveCool. What's the range of said
00:44:36Ahumstut - James15 foot.
00:44:37GM - Dave15 foot? So yes, they will be within the range. It's a saving throw, isn't it?
00:44:42Ahumstut - JamesWill save.
00:44:43Mistress Fria - HowardDC 15.
00:44:44GM - DaveDC 15 will save. And then it will be how many hit dice. Yes.
00:44:49Mistress Fria - Howard4 hit dice. Surely everything in there is an individual rather than a swarm.
00:44:55GM - DaveIt doesn't work like that Howard, But you do succeed. So they fail their will saving throw. They have 4 hit dice creatures. They're still blind. They're still stunned, are they?
00:45:03Ahumstut - JamesStunned and blinded for d4, then stun for d4. No, just stun for one after that.
00:45:08GM - DaveThey're not unconscious, but they are stunned. They're stunned for two rounds. And are they currently blinded as well?
00:45:14Vulf - Pete BProbably.
00:45:15Mistress Fria - HowardHow many of them?
00:45:16GM - DaveThe whole swarm at the moment? And stunned is what?
00:45:19Ahumstut - JamesCan't do anything.
00:45:20GM - DaveOkay, they can still move.
00:45:21Ahumstut - JamesI think it can't take any actions. Yeah, drops everything held. Can't take actions. Minus 2 to AC. Loses DEX.
00:45:28GM - DaveOkay, so you've basically stunned them for 2 rounds, guys.
00:45:32Mistress Fria - HowardRoughly how many of them are there?
00:45:33GM - DaveThere's hundreds of them held.
00:45:35Mistress Fria - HowardI'm going to grab the mule and escape up towards room 13, gentlemen.
00:45:39GM - DaveNext to go is Lómeril.
00:45:41Lómeril - PeteCrap, going back into the room would be better. But never mind, you'll have to follow the boss.
00:45:46Jestix - TimThe boss hasn't moved yet.
00:45:47Mistress Fria - HowardGet trapped in there. The rats might go away.
00:45:52Lómeril - PeteI follow the gnome.
00:45:53Mistress Fria - HowardGrab the mule and let's run.
00:45:55GM - DaveAre you legging it up the corridor?
00:45:57Lómeril - PeteYes.
00:45:58GM - DaveRight, you could easily get into the room there.
00:46:02Lómeril - PeteOkay.
00:46:02Mistress Fria - HowardTake the mule.
00:46:04GM - DaveRats, they can't act. It's Vulf next.
00:46:07Vulf - Pete BI'll look at the stunned rats. Okay, I think moving away from them, I shall take out my musical instrument.
00:46:14GM - DaveSo where are you going to?
00:46:16Vulf - Pete BI'll move up the corridor with the others as well.
00:46:18GM - DaveOkay, well, move yourself then.
00:46:19Vulf - Pete BMove 40.
00:46:20GM - DaveOne, two, three. Yeah, it'll be about there.
00:46:24Vulf - Pete BThat's 40, is it? Okay.
00:46:25GM - DaveOh, sorry, eight squares. Okay.
00:46:27Jestix - TimYou said half move.
00:46:28Vulf - Pete BYeah, 40 is a half-move, rather than 80.
00:46:30GM - DaveJestix.
00:46:31Jestix - TimFollow the crowd.
00:46:32GM - DaveAnd who's got the mule?
00:46:34Mistress Fria - HowardLooks like I have.
00:46:36Jestix - TimYeah.
00:46:36Mistress Fria - HowardIt could be me dragging a mule up with it, but let's go.
00:46:40GM - DaveAll right, okay. So Jestix, where are you going?
00:46:42Jestix - TimI'm following the crowd down into the room down here with the dog.
00:46:45GM - DaveOkay, so what's your move?
00:46:47Jestix - TimMy move is 30.
00:46:48GM - DaveSo you could double move into the room. Assuming you do that.
00:46:51Jestix - TimYep.
00:46:51GM - DaveLeaving Fria behind. All right, so beginning of the next round. Fria, what are you doing?
00:46:55Mistress Fria - HowardGrab the mule and drag it at full double move as fast as I can go up to where the boys are.
00:47:01GM - DaveSo what's your move?
00:47:02Mistress Fria - HowardIt's only 20.
00:47:03GM - DaveSo that's 4 squares.
00:47:04Mistress Fria - HowardI'm running as fast as I can.
00:47:06GM - DaveSo you can get to the mule, and you can drag it up into the corridor.
00:47:10Mistress Fria - HowardYes, I'm running like hell.
00:47:13GM - DaveOkay, and then it will be Lómeril. What are you lot going to do in this room?
00:47:17Jestix - TimWatch the impending rat fest go
00:47:19Lómeril - PeteIs there a door that can shut behind us.
00:47:21GM - DaveThere's a door into the main area, and there's a door into the room with the lion on the ceiling.
00:47:26Mistress Fria - HowardWhich we kicked in.
00:47:27GM - DaveThat's right, actually. The door into the room with the lion has been kicked in.
00:47:31Lómeril - PeteNo.
00:47:31GM - DaveThis is a secure door here. Or did you kick that one in too?
00:47:34Lómeril - PeteOkay, I run to that door, step through, and then prepare to shut it.
00:47:39GM - DaveOkay, so the rats are now on their second round. Of being inactive. Vulf?
00:47:44Vulf - Pete BI delay, basically, because I know that the gnome's behind, so I will start strumming.
00:47:52GM - DaveOkay, Jestix.
00:47:53Jestix - TimGo through the door.
00:47:55GM - DaveThat'll be your full action.of And then it's background to the beginning of the round, and I'm assuming you're going to continue.
00:48:00Mistress Fria - HowardRunning is definitely my best option. I'm going to continue to run towards the only secure door which doesn't trap me in here.
00:48:09GM - DaveThe measurements are right. You get halfway into the room. You're about there-ish. Then the rats have their action.
00:48:17Ahumstut - JamesThey also get stunned for one more time. Blinded and stunned for d4, then an extra 1.
00:48:22GM - DaveBlinded doesn't mean you can't actually see, but it does mean that
00:48:26Ahumstut - JamesStill stunned.
00:48:26GM - Davethey're still stunned. They stay there. Okay, so Vulf. The rats have not so far come round the corner.
00:48:33Vulf - Pete BI am waiting for Fria to escape.
00:48:36GM - DaveJestix is there, so background to the beginning of the round. Fria, you can easily get through there in that next time period.
00:48:43Mistress Fria - HowardYep.
00:48:44GM - DaveOkay.
00:48:45Mistress Fria - HowardWhat are we going to do about these things? Can we fight them?
00:48:49Vulf - Pete BI have a plan.
00:48:50Mistress Fria - HowardExcellent! We'll join in.
00:48:52GM - DaveThe rats are no longer stunned. I suppose they can move half, can't they? Get to there. Vulf.
00:48:58Vulf - Pete BI'll keep a beady eye on the rats. If they start to head down the corridor, then I will start to play to try to fascinate them.
00:49:05GM - DaveOoh, good idea. If you wait, basically, they will eventually start coming up this way. They're currently blinded.
00:49:12Mistress Fria - Howardfascinate them while they're blinded.
00:49:14Vulf - Pete BYeah, all right, try to fascinate them. The idea is the Pied Piper effort, and yeah, they're To try and basically fascinate them so that they follow me, and then I will lead them off somewhere well away from us lot. Outside, perhaps, because I believe that there's some stairs that lead pretty close to the entranceway, like these ones.
00:49:33Jestix - TimOr you can lead them into one of the other rooms and shut the door on them.
00:49:36Vulf - Pete BThere is that. Yeah, they may go down to the trash pit and have some fun there. That was option two.
00:49:40GM - DaveOkay, so roll your Fascinate. What's it against?
00:49:43Vulf - Pete BSo, fascinate. Is
00:49:45GM - DaveA Will save.
00:49:46Vulf - Pete BDC for affected creatures. Will save against the effect. If the creature succeeds, can't attempt it again. Fails if it isn't quite a song, taking no other actions. But you could, I suppose, if you wanted to, so that they follow me because that is precedent has been set for that sort of thing. But I'll make a perform roll with my loot, which is not as good as the other ones. So 13 is the DC, not the save.
00:50:08GM - DaveAnd they fail. Assuming it was a Will.
00:50:11Vulf - Pete BIt is.
00:50:12GM - DaveYep, they fail.
00:50:13Vulf - Pete BOK. Well, the general idea, then, is to… I can't see easily on this map the stairs that lead out to the outside.
00:50:20GM - DaveNow it's up this passageway here, down that way, and across.
00:50:24Vulf - Pete BSo it's miles back sort of thing.
00:50:25GM - DaveHow long does Fascinate last for?
00:50:27Vulf - Pete BAs long as I keep playing, I think. Within 90 feet, see and hear the bard, pay attention to me.
00:50:33GM - DaveSo there's no hit dice level on that.
00:50:36Vulf - Pete BNo, I only affect one target though.
00:50:39GM - DaveOkay. Well, you smash the door in there, and there's a pit.
00:50:43Vulf - Pete BDo we smash it or do we open it?
00:50:45GM - DaveYou smash this door.
00:50:46Vulf - Pete BOK.
00:50:47Mistress Fria - HowardSo we'll all get out the way and you can pied piper them
00:50:50Vulf - Pete BWhat about this door here, where my white
00:50:51GM - DaveWhich door?
00:50:51Vulf - Pete BWhere my white hand is?
00:50:53GM - DaveThis door wasn't locked. You just opened it.
00:50:55Mistress Fria - HowardSo we can just do that, won't we?
00:50:57Vulf - Pete BYeah.
00:50:58Mistress Fria - HowardOkay, well if you carry on playing, we'll open the door and you can lead them in there. How are we going to get out, I don't know.
00:51:05Vulf - Pete BLeave them in here, and then when they're all sort of in there, back out the door and shut the door is kind of the plan.
00:51:11GM - DaveYou've got Animal Handling?
00:51:12Vulf - Pete BI do have an animal handling, yeah. Do you want me to roll that?
00:51:14GM - DaveYeah, I think that's an appropriate… If you succeed, then you succeed in what you're trying to do.
00:51:20Vulf - Pete BOK. He rolls poorly. 5.
00:51:23GM - DaveOk, You find it difficult… You in this room, and the rats are kind of, like, hovering here. You can't seem to encourage them to actually come into the room.
00:51:32Vulf - Pete BOkay.
00:51:33GM - DaveThey're not endangering you or endangering the rest of the party, but they just don't seem to…
00:51:38Vulf - Pete BPerhaps if I went further into the room and tried to climb round the side here, would that be sort of my only other option?
00:51:44GM - DaveYeah, but you probably can't play your lute while you're doing the Clamber round, but certainly you could…
00:51:49Mistress Fria - HowardClimbing with the loot.
00:51:50Vulf - Pete BNo, I mean, I'd obviously stop looting at that point.
00:51:53GM - DaveOkay, yeah, so you go there.
00:51:55Vulf - Pete BSo, OK, I stand all the way back here. Hopefully one of the others will have the presence of mind to shut the door.
00:51:59Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, if we know what you're doing. I can't guess and will close the doors.
00:52:04GM - DaveMake another Animal Handling roll.
00:52:06Mistress Fria - Howard15.
00:52:07GM - DaveYes, they're now all in the room. With you?
00:52:09Mistress Fria - HowardAny stragglers as we close the door are Henry's
00:52:12Vulf - Pete BLook down at the vast, yawning pit below me,
00:52:14GM - DaveYep.
00:52:14Vulf - Pete Bswallow, and then try to climb round here.
00:52:18Mistress Fria - Howardwe're guessing what he's trying to do, I will run to there to try and catch him or offer assistance as he swims around.
00:52:27Vulf - Pete BNo offence, but I might need somebody with a bit more weight behind them than you, because I'm just pull you into the hole.
00:52:31Mistress Fria - HowardGuys, he's trying to climb around the edge of the pit. Let's go and see if we can help.
00:52:35Lómeril - PeteWhy is he doing that?
00:52:37Mistress Fria - HowardIt's the only way you can get them all in the room. It's a good place to trap loads of rats.
00:52:42GM - DaveYou can do a Climb or a Tumble check.
00:52:44Jestix - TimTumble strikes me as insane. I don't know what your skill is, but
00:52:48Vulf - Pete BI've got a fairly high tumble.
00:52:50GM - DaveI'm assuming they don't have Agility now, So it's a Climb.
00:52:53Vulf - Pete BI need to make a climb roll.
00:52:55GM - DaveYeah.
00:52:55Vulf - Pete BIs it relatively easy?
00:52:56GM - DaveYes.
00:52:57Mistress Fria - HowardI have some silk rope.
00:52:58Vulf - Pete BIf I should fail, then I'll try to grasp hold of anybody's outstretched hands.
00:53:02GM - DaveOkay, after you've stopped looting them, how long before they come round and decide? Is it straight away, or is there a delay?
00:53:10Vulf - Pete BI would imagine, it just doesn't say it carries on for any time, but when I stop playing, it probably stops. But I wouldn't have thought it's an on-off switch. It's just sort of, oh, it's ended. What were we doing?
00:53:20GM - DaveYes. Time to eat Pete!
00:53:22Ahumstut - JamesSo sits quietly and listens to song, taking no actions for as long as Bard continues to play and concentrate up to a max of one round per Bard level.
00:53:32GM - DaveYeah, so actually you've done it a bit longer than you should have done, but I suppose we could have made you keep rolling Fascinate.
00:53:38Vulf - Pete BOK, I
00:53:39Ahumstut - JamesYeah, once per day per Bard level.
00:53:41GM - DaveSo actually, you couldn't have done it for all this length of time, but we'll let you get away with it just because it was fun. So, yes, you'll have to make a Climb roll to get round there.
00:53:48Vulf - Pete BOk, I will try to make a climb roll. That brings me up to 9.
00:53:52GM - DaveOkay, you figure that you can't do it. You're not quite skilled enough to quickly shuffle round. You rats go eek eek eek, and starting next round they will run towards you. So what are you going to do first? You've got another action.
00:54:07Vulf - Pete BCan I have another go?
00:54:08GM - DaveYes, you can risk your life again.
00:54:11Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, so I think Jestix and I are there.
00:54:14Jestix - Timit doesn't matter. It's a big enough pit to kill him.
00:54:17Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, I know. I'm just trying to think.
00:54:20Vulf - Pete BYeah, I can try to grab hold of somebody's hand. So I'll try it again here.
00:54:24Lómeril - PeteYeah, I'll offer a hand.
00:54:26Vulf - Pete BIt's better than being eaten alive by rats.
00:54:27GM - DaveRoll a Climbing skill, Pete, and if you get 13, you can give plus 2 to him.
00:54:33Lómeril - PeteOh, me.
00:54:34GM - DaveLómeril, you're Aiding.
00:54:35Mistress Fria - HowardJestix helping.
00:54:36Jestix - TimJestix is the one that's there.
00:54:38GM - DaveOh, sorry, Jestix.
00:54:39Lómeril - PeteI need to roll a climb roll.
00:54:41Jestix - TimNo, I'm the one with the climb skill.
00:54:43GM - DaveThen Jestix, you do it.
00:54:44Jestix - Tim22.
00:54:45GM - DaveOkay, so you get plus 2, Pete, you climb.
00:54:47Vulf - Pete BAll right. Oh, rah. 23.
00:54:50GM - DaveOkay, you successfully hop round, and Jestix pulls you into the room. Okay, the rat swarm. It makes a Notice roll with a 2, so they lose track of where you went. So they all pile down into the pit, because obviously that looks tasty.
00:55:06Vulf - Pete BIt probably smells a bit.
00:55:07Jestix - TimWe exit stage left as quickly as possible.
00:55:10GM - DaveThere's a lot of squeaking, and they all four-stroke clamber down into the pit and munch on anything they can find down there.
00:55:17Jestix - TimHobbit.
00:55:17Mistress Fria - HowardJolly well done, Vault.
00:55:19Vulf - Pete BHurrah!
00:55:20Mistress Fria - HowardI suggest we escape while we still can.
00:55:22Vulf - Pete BI felt as though I needed a flute, rather than a lute, for that. Remind me to get one when we next go back to town.
00:55:28Mistress Fria - HowardHere you go. for an excellent bit of thinking. Have my flute.
00:55:32Vulf - Pete BDo you have a flute?
00:55:33Mistress Fria - HowardI have a flute.
00:55:35Vulf - Pete BOh, you are blessed indeed.
00:55:36Mistress Fria - HowardI can play but not very well.
00:55:39Jestix - TimJust one note. It might as well be a whistle.
00:55:42Mistress Fria - HowardI've got perform 3 and I've
00:55:43Vulf - Pete BYou got performed 3. Well, so do I.
00:55:45Mistress Fria - Howardgot perform wind instruments 4. So yes, but no I haven't used it and you're a bard. There you go. Have my flute. I'll buy another one.
00:55:55Vulf - Pete BOh, well, thank you. I appreciate this magnificent gift.
00:56:00Mistress Fria - HowardWith a little more caution than perhaps before make our way to the door we were going to go before we were ambushed. Maintaining a rough party order so we don't get killed by passing scorpions or
00:56:15Jestix - TimOr bugbears.
00:56:16Mistress Fria - Howardbugbears. I've just thrown everyone roughly into the right area.
00:56:20Jestix - TimIt's not even vaguely the right area.
00:56:22Lómeril - PeteI'll keep an eye out for scuttling scorpions or lurking bugbears.
00:56:27GM - DaveAll seem to have gone quiet again, Pete. That could be suspicious. Okay, an old wooden door with a hole through.
00:56:34Mistress Fria - HowardA key. Well, we had 3 keys from one room and we found another key from… Do any of the keys I have fit?
00:56:42GM - DaveOkay, the small ring of keys which were found here, one of them fits.
00:56:47Mistress Fria - HowardOh, excellent.
00:56:48Vulf - Pete BWhere can we find the small ring of keys.
00:56:50GM - DaveIt was hanging behind that door which you smashed down.
00:56:53Vulf - Pete BOk.
00:56:54GM - DaveAnd also, I believe you did smash this door down.
00:56:57Mistress Fria - HowardYeah.
00:56:57GM - DaveThey also have the key for that door too.
00:56:59Mistress Fria - HowardWe found the keys only too late.
00:57:01Ahumstut - JamesWhen in doubt, smash it down.
00:57:03Mistress Fria - HowardOK, I open the door. I unlock the door. I will retire somewhere I can cover them and let them do the big grand entrance.
00:57:14GM - DaveSo who opens the door?
00:57:15Vulf - Pete BOh, well, I guess I will, after having been bolstered by the clerics and many curing spells.
00:57:20Lómeril - PeteI'll be standing ready with a longsword draw.
00:57:23GM - DaveA small 10 foot by 10 foot room. There's a number of wooden pegs along the walls which hang a few cloaks.
00:57:31Jestix - TimIt's the broom cupboard.
00:57:32GM - DaveA leather coat, a hat.
00:57:34Lómeril - PeteSo whilst the gnome goes in to start pulling all the pegs to check the secret doors, I'll finally get round to reading the draconic piece of paper.
00:57:43Mistress Fria - HowardSeems fair, I search the place.
00:57:45GM - DaveThe gnome's going to go in there, I assume, and search the room, yeah?
00:57:48Jestix - TimJestix will go in and just search randomly as he normally does.
00:57:51GM - DaveOkay, right, so, Lómeril. We're currently looking at the draconic piece or paper Right, it describes a funny triangular room with a weird glass cylinder in the middle of it.
00:58:07Mistress Fria - HowardOh, excellent.
00:58:08GM - DaveAnd it suggests the western side has a secret door. So it describes the secret door, and that you push it to the left and it clicks open.
00:58:20Lómeril - PeteOkay, tell everyone what's written on the paper.
00:58:23Mistress Fria - HowardWe've seen that room. We'll go back there later.
00:58:26Jestix - TimI get a 17 search in the room.
00:58:29GM - DaveOkay, so, Jestix, roll your… I am just running, looking around.
00:58:32Jestix - TimYep. I got 17.
00:58:34Mistress Fria - HowardThose nice leather cloaks you guys. They'll keep you warm after a cold night outside.
00:58:39Jestix - TimPity we're inside.
00:58:41GM - DaveOkay, the leather cloak looks quite wearable, Jestix, if it was to have a little bit of mending done to it. The others don't look very good to you.
00:58:50Jestix - TimOkay, Well, I'll take the leather coat he's mending as I can give him some time, get a mending skill.
00:58:56Mistress Fria - HowardYou've seen both Wolf and I do mending.
00:58:59GM - DaveI think most of the party can do mending now. I think it's a core capability of this party. Yes, Fria, you searched the room quite intently, and what you find is that one of the cloaks, which is basically moth-eaten load of rubbish falling to bits, actually has a silver clasp, which looks a bit like a flock of birds.
00:59:20Mistress Fria - HowardOh, beautiful. That was once a nice cloak but ain't any more. I will take the mask and show everyone and throw it into party treasure.
00:59:30GM - DaveCertainly would make a nice clasp on a cloak. And that pretty much is the only things in the room.
00:59:37Mistress Fria - HowardJestix, do you like that leather cloak enough to actually want it?
00:59:41Jestix - TimYeah. I haven't got a cloak at the moment, I don't think.
00:59:44Mistress Fria - HowardOK, I cast a mend on it.
00:59:48Jestix - TimThank you.
00:59:49Mistress Fria - HowardBing! That's looking a bit better. More like a smart adventurer I like hanging out with.
00:59:56GM - DaveIt probably also needs a prestidigitation to clean it as well,
01:00:02Mistress Fria - HowardI'm happy to mend. Maybe later. OK, let's push on. The corridor turns east which is closest. Did I ever investigate room 13? The secret doors or other than the bugbear thing. Is it 13? The one where the scorpion and the bugbear on the mosaic.
01:00:21GM - Daveyou've not searched that area.
01:00:23Mistress Fria - HowardOK, guys, I'm going to have a quick look down there just because I haven't and then you're welcome to join me or we'll carry on up this other corridor. That's where I think we go next but I'm just going to have a quick romp through here just because I haven't seen this here bugbear.
01:00:39GM - DaveSo, Freya, you spent ages wandering around down here.
01:00:43Mistress Fria - HowardI'm the most boring person ever to adventure with but we do find all the bloody secret doors. he guys might have already gone on ahead.
01:00:52GM - DaveNo, because there's only one torch, unless somebody else is going to light a torch. So, what else is everybody else going to do?
01:00:58Vulf - Pete BI'll have studied the mosaic as well. I want to check out this bear of bugs a bit more.
01:01:03GM - DaveOkay,
01:01:04Jestix - TimAnd I'm going to spend my time looking down the corridor waiting for something to come up and attack us.
01:01:09GM - Daveyou sit there chatting to your dog, looking both ways, I assume. And Vulf is in here looking at the mosaic. What about Lómeril?
01:01:17Lómeril - PeteDo I have anything else to read?
01:01:18Jestix - TimYou've got the cleric's book.
01:01:21Lómeril - PeteI'll continue reading the cleric's book. All this searching bores me intensely.
01:01:26GM - DaveFria takes 20. It's going to take her a good half an hour at least to search this area. Vulf, you can probably take a 20 on some kind of knowledge if you've got it.
01:01:35Vulf - Pete BOkay.
01:01:36Ahumstut - JamesI think you can't take 20 on knowledges. It's either you know something or you don't. And you can't do it by uming and arring for 20 times as long as you would.
01:01:48Vulf - Pete BSadly, I think he's right.
01:01:49GM - DaveDo you have any kind of bardic knowledge stuff that might be useful?
01:01:53Vulf - Pete BRight, so you want me to make a roll?
01:01:54GM - DaveYes.
01:01:55Vulf - Pete B9.
01:01:56GM - DaveSome kind of weird creature, that's about as much as you know.
01:01:59Vulf - Pete BOkay, what I want to do is see if any of the… if I press any of the mosaics, whether or not anything interesting happens.
01:02:05GM - DaveI will assume you've taken 20 on a search. You don't find anything.
01:02:09Vulf - Pete BThat concludes my interest in the mosaic.
01:02:11GM - DaveYou're not a dwarf, are you?
01:02:12Vulf - Pete BNo.
01:02:13GM - DaveFria finds absolutely nothing.
01:02:15Mistress Fria - HowardBuffer, About 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Sorry guys. Crack on.
01:02:19GM - DaveWhich way next?
01:02:20Vulf - Pete BUp the corridor, I suppose.
01:02:22Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, we were exploring this way.
01:02:24GM - DaveRight, the corridor turns east, then continues north.
01:02:29Jestix - TimI.e. to go round the room in front of it.
01:02:31GM - DaveYeah, it goes this way, then goes north, and then comes out into a largest chamber.
01:02:36Mistress Fria - HowardWe will progress in standard party order.
01:02:39Jestix - TimA random rabble.
01:02:41Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, with me and the mule in the middle I hope.
01:02:44Jestix - TimAt some point the fighter's going to insist you go in front because it's much safer.
01:02:48Mistress Fria - HowardLaughter…
01:02:50GM - DaveIt's 20 by 50.
01:02:52Jestix - TimBig room.
01:02:53GM - DaveIt's full of old bits of rotten wood.
01:02:57Vulf - Pete BWhat, from benches, chairs, that sort of thing?
01:02:59GM - DaveWell, I'm assuming you've not spent a lot of time looking at it at the moment. Planks of wood.
01:03:04Mistress Fria - HowardI'm listening and looking for movement and danger.
01:03:07Vulf - Pete BI'll stand in the doorway, surveying it, see if anything comes at us. If nothing does, then eventually we'll go in.
01:03:12GM - DaveNothing comes at you.
01:03:13Vulf - Pete BWe'll go in.
01:03:14GM - DaveThe room is basically full of wood that's rotting.
01:03:17Vulf - Pete BIs it piled, stacked neatly, or is it tumbled down from the ceiling?
01:03:21GM - DaveIt's tumbled down.
01:03:23Mistress Fria - HowardSo it once had an vaulted wooden ceiling or something.
01:03:27GM - DaveThere is not a wall there, by the way.
01:03:28Mistress Fria - HowardSo, quite large.
01:03:30GM - DaveVery quiet, dark. Your torch. This room's actually quite tall.
01:03:37Mistress Fria - HowardIt once had some form of It's not a collapsed roof, is it?
01:03:40GM - DaveMost of the corridors around here are 15 or 20 foot tall. This room is nearly 30 foot. Okay, there's rusty nails, all sorts of stuff like that.
01:03:51Mistress Fria - HowardSome of which may one day be useful.
01:03:53GM - DaveI'm assuming you have only just standing here and looking down at the moment.
01:03:57Vulf - Pete BWe will go in if nothing tries to eat us.
01:03:59GM - DaveNothing tries to reach you.
01:04:00Vulf - Pete BWe will go in.
01:04:01GM - DaveThere's a bigger pile of wood here, near the very end.
01:04:04Vulf - Pete BRight, well, I'll start going through it and exploring.
01:04:06GM - DaveAnyone got any relevant crafts they would like to try on me?
01:04:10Mistress Fria - HowardRelevant craft. That's an interesting thought.
01:04:13Jestix - TimNope.
01:04:14Mistress Fria - HowardNo. Trap making, metalwork, bow making, alchemy. None of which will really help.
01:04:19GM - DaveYou could try what knowledges you might have.
01:04:21Mistress Fria - HowardArcana and local.
01:04:23GM - DaveNothing there.
01:04:24Mistress Fria - HowardOK, just have a look at the ground.
01:04:26GM - DaveThere's a big pile of wood at the end of the room.
01:04:27Jestix - TimCautiously approach the big pile of wood at the end. Does it look vaguely like a barricade?
01:04:33GM - DaveNo, looks nothing like a barricade. It looks like something's collapsed.
01:04:36Vulf - Pete BKeep an eye on the ceiling as well, see if there's anything up there that might have caused everything to fall down, like, you know, a large roosting bat or something.
01:04:43GM - DaveActually, now you look more closely, the ceiling, although it's 30 foot above you, there's actually a lip about 20 foot up.
01:04:54Jestix - TimWhere there was a balcony.
01:04:55GM - DaveYeah, it looks like all the way around the room, you can look into this room. And when you spot that, you actually spot that there's occasional holes around the balcony area.
01:05:08Vulf - Pete BEntrances into this room from elsewhere.
01:05:10GM - DaveThey're about six by six inches into the wall.
01:05:14Jestix - TimMurder slots.
01:05:15GM - DaveCould be murder holes, yes, that's one valid interpretation.
01:05:19Mistress Fria - HowardOr there could be where beams or supports went for an artificial roof.
01:05:22GM - DaveThat's much more likely. Now it's been pointed out to you, that's exactly what they look like.
01:05:26Mistress Fria - HowardThey're beam holes and the artificial roof has basically rotted and collapsed.
01:05:31GM - DaveYes, and now you've worked that out, it looks remarkably like it's the remains of a staircase.
01:05:36Mistress Fria - HowardAnd there was a staircase going up. Staircases go to somewhere. I would try and look at where the staircase went.
01:05:41GM - DaveIt went up to the next level.
01:05:43Jestix - TimWell, yeah. Went to the balcony.
01:05:45Mistress Fria - HowardOK, so there's a big ornate staircase going up to a lovely balcony so that people could then look down at whatever was on this room. Unusual.
01:05:53Jestix - TimWell, no. We've had a couple of rooms with balconies in already.
01:05:56Mistress Fria - HowardYeah, he loves his balconies. If there were other rooms or entrances going on, they'd be 20 feet up.
01:06:02Jestix - TimIndeed.
01:06:02Mistress Fria - HowardHave a quick look around just to see if there's anything which might indicate that there is a secret door up there, but I realise that would be bloody hard. So I'm not going to take 20. I'm going to roll that one. Just have a good look around up there.
01:06:16Vulf - Pete BSee if there's a way out of here, towards the far end.
01:06:18GM - DaveNo, it's all quiet, nothing much is going on.
01:06:21Mistress Fria - HowardOK, there's no other way in or out. I really would love to find a way of joining the two rooms up. This room seems to be higher. It's all raised, isn't it?
01:06:31GM - DaveYes, anyone got craft, stonework or any of those dungeoneering type knowledge?
01:06:35Mistress Fria - HowardNo, I'm afraid not.
01:06:37Vulf - Pete BNo.
01:06:38Mistress Fria - HowardOnly what I might naturally have with craft untrained.
01:06:42Vulf - Pete BThat's for dwarf's, isn't it? OK, are there any other ways out of this room?
01:06:45GM - DaveApart from trying to climb the wall, no.
01:06:47Mistress Fria - HowardClimbing is not my strong OK,
01:06:49Vulf - Pete BOK, well, I guess we leave.
01:06:50Mistress Fria - Howardin which case, I think this whole end is a dead end. The next bit to explore is where the rats came from.
01:06:57Vulf - Pete BYeah.
01:06:57Jestix - TimYep.
01:06:58Mistress Fria - HowardSo we make our way carefully with party order and due caution out over this direction. Isn't that right?
01:07:05Jestix - TimYep.
01:07:05GM - DaveThe passageway, turns to the south, then turns to the west, and then there's stairs going up.
01:07:14Jestix - TimOhh.. Back to the surface.
01:07:16Vulf - Pete BFollow the stairs.
01:07:18GM - DaveRight, so there's some stairs going up.
01:07:20Mistress Fria - HowardProgress carefully, said
01:07:22GM - DaveThe corridor turns north, and then it opens out into a room. And there is a door just there.
01:07:29Vulf - Pete BAre we going to go up and investigate the room since it's opened out into it, or are we going to open the door first?
01:07:34Jestix - TimSend the..
01:07:35Mistress Fria - HowardSend the gnome.
01:07:36Jestix - Timgnome to listen at the door.
01:07:38Mistress Fria - HowardYep. OK, listen at the door.
01:07:41GM - DaveOK, roll a listen roll, Hod.
01:07:43Mistress Fria - HowardIt's a natural 9 and my listen isn't going to add a lot more to that. Plus 5 for listen, so it's a 14.
01:07:51GM - DaveYou don't hear anything.
01:07:53Mistress Fria - HowardAll is quiet. Door locked.
01:07:55GM - DaveNope, it's not locked.
01:07:56Mistress Fria - HowardCool. In which case, I will stand back and cover who ever wants to open it.
01:08:02Jestix - TimWell, with Lómeril on one side and Vulf on the other.
01:08:06GM - DaveOK, the passageway continues on.
01:08:08Vulf - Pete BWhat, through the door?
01:08:10Mistress Fria - HowardUseful, however, in case you're being pursued by rats.
01:08:13GM - DaveOK, so the corridor continues on. You see that it continues on west and opens up into a room.
01:08:19Mistress Fria - HowardSo we have two options that open up.
01:08:22Vulf - Pete BLet's go down here.
01:08:24Jestix - TimWell, I would go that way because we can shut the door behind us.
01:08:28Mistress Fria - HowardYep.
01:08:29GM - DaveQuite a large room.
01:08:31Vulf - Pete BWhat's in the room?
01:08:32GM - DaveOK, it continues a bit further than that. I'll just fill in the rest of it, but it's probably just about the length of your light in size.
01:08:44Mistress Fria - HowardDo we hear or see anything moving? Any threats?
01:08:47GM - DaveThe room is completely quiet. I'll describe the other things in the room in a second. There are some things in the room, but nothing is currently attempting to attack you.
01:08:58Mistress Fria - HowardGood start.
01:09:00GM - DaveIt's a funny-shaped room with some niches, and there's a corridor leading out, and there's a corridor leading that way as well. The room is dark and silent. A long, wide hall stretches ahead with small alcoves and niches along its length. Many of these hold small shelves that display various small idols or statuettes of an unknown origin. In other places, the shelves are empty. At the southern end of the room is a large stone table holding a triptych of massive size.
01:09:30Mistress Fria - HowardWell, this is where Lómeril would go mad for lots and lots of fake idols like an altar with a huge book on.
01:09:37Vulf - Pete BA triptych to whom?
01:09:39GM - DaveWhere are you all at this moment in time? You're actually the…
01:09:42Vulf - Pete BProbably in the room, if we see this.
01:09:44Mistress Fria - HowardIf it looks safe, we will move in cautiously.
01:09:47GM - DaveYou're heading into the room when things start to move on the shelves.
01:09:53Mistress Fria - HowardThings start to move on the shelves. All these strange idols are waking up.
01:09:57GM - DaveYes, they do.
01:09:58Mistress Fria - HowardMany of them fall over or fall off their shelves.
01:10:01GM - DaveThey jump off their shelves.
01:10:03Mistress Fria - HowardDid that say animated drawven armour?
01:10:06GM - DaveIt isn't animated dwarven armour, but in the set of stuff, it doesn't seem to have anything that quite matches what I want, so it'll be these. Yeah, there's six of these that jump out, and there's two bigger ones.
01:10:21Mistress Fria - HowardI have two colour sprays left.
01:10:23Vulf - Pete BNot sure it's going to affect these things.
01:10:25Mistress Fria - HowardNo, I think we might have to just smeg them. And when I say we,
01:10:30Vulf - Pete BShoot them. That'll work.
01:10:32Mistress Fria - HowardI'm sure it's by the place and shape.
01:10:34GM - DaveOkay, so we need to roll some initiative, guys.
01:10:37Vulf - Pete BAre they all the same size? Two big ones and five little ones.
01:10:41GM - DaveOh, sorry, there should be another one. There's six little ones. Okay, they are strange-looking statuettes. They're not of humanoid form.
01:10:50Vulf - Pete BWhat form are they? Insectoid?
01:10:52Mistress Fria - HowardMore little homunculus type things?
01:10:55GM - DaveThat's a good word, but it's not that,
01:10:57Vulf - Pete BDemons? Slugs?
01:10:59GM - DaveNo, they look like odds and sods.
01:11:01Mistress Fria - Howardgargoyles?
01:11:02GM - DaveGargoyle-type. They don't look animalistic at all. Weird-shaped, straight edges.
01:11:08Mistress Fria - HowardAll animated stone statues?
01:11:10GM - DaveYeah, just kind of random-shaped animated statues.
01:11:13Vulf - Pete BWeird.
01:11:13GM - DaveYeah, very weird-looking.
01:11:15Mistress Fria - HowardI suggest we smeg the big ones first.
01:11:17GM - DaveOkay, so their initiatives are going to be that.
01:11:19Jestix - TimJestix has 11 and Lómeril has 13.
01:11:23Mistress Fria - HowardI have a 5. God, last time I was wrong. Great, today I'm rolling crap, it happens.
01:11:30Vulf - Pete B15 for me.
01:11:31GM - DaveOoh, they go on 20.
01:11:33Mistress Fria - HowardThey're moving first, then.
01:11:34Jestix - TimCharge towards them.
01:11:35GM - DaveOh, they do, yes. They won't do that, they'll do.
01:11:38Jestix - TimDisintegrate as they hit the floor.
01:11:40GM - DaveNo, what they do is all of them moved together into one spot
01:11:45Jestix - TimAnd merge.
01:11:46GM - Daveand merge to produce a uber-sized one.
01:11:50Vulf - Pete BCan't say I approve of that.
01:11:51GM - DaveOkay, so there's an uber-sized one.
01:11:53Vulf - Pete BHow big is this uber-sized one? Large? Huge? Medium?
01:11:57Jestix - TimGinormous.
01:11:58GM - DaveIt takes up four squares, so it's 20 foot sort of size.
01:12:01Vulf - Pete BFour squares is large.
01:12:02GM - DaveYes, it counts as a large creature.
01:12:04Vulf - Pete BOK. You're very big, aren't you?
01:12:07Jestix - TimBigger than its component parts.
01:12:08GM - DaveWell, it's made up of a lot of empty space, shall we say. But the bits seem to have slotted together to create this amorphous, death-dealing creature. And it's going to start lumbering towards you. So, Vulf, 15.
01:12:21Vulf - Pete BI start singing, readying my axe.
01:12:23GM - DaveOkay, you're singing.
01:12:24Vulf - Pete BBe brave, or a cry of once more under the breach to your friends, that sort of thing.
01:12:28Mistress Fria - HowardThis doesn't count as a giant type, does it? Over these trolls and giants. I'm hard hit by those buggers.
01:12:35GM - DaveNo, I'm afraid not. Unless it counts all large creatures, I'd assume it doesn't.
01:12:39Mistress Fria - HowardThis is against most of the giant types. No, I think it is actually the big giant humanoids.
01:12:45GM - DaveOkay, so Vulf is doing some kind of inspire, I assume.
01:12:48Vulf - Pete BYep, so everybody gets plus one to hit and damage and on fear saves, I think.
01:12:53GM - DaveOkay, Lómeril go.
01:12:55Jestix - TimLómeril will probably attempt to shoot it.
01:12:56GM - DaveOkay, go for it.
01:12:58Jestix - Tim21, which is a natural 20.
01:13:00GM - DaveIt's threat, but I'm not sure what these are. They're constructs, so I don't think they have the…
01:13:05Vulf - Pete BCan't remember in 3.5. Oh.
01:13:07Mistress Fria - HowardLómeril is using a masterwork longsword, a masterwork bow, as far as I'm aware.
01:13:11Jestix - TimYeah, actually 23, but it's more a question of whether it's threat-enabled.
01:13:16GM - DaveOh, it's a hit. It's definitely a hit. Question is, can you crit a construct?
01:13:22Ahumstut - JamesNo, you can't.
01:13:23GM - DaveThank you for that, James. I thought the answer was that, too. So, no, you can't crit it, but you've definitely hit it.
01:13:28Jestix - TimSo that's 6 damage.
01:13:30GM - DaveIt has taken a 6 damage.
01:13:32Mistress Fria - HowardReally good start.
01:13:33GM - DaveJestix.
01:13:34Jestix - TimI'm casting a spell.
01:13:36Mistress Fria - HowardUghhhh!
01:13:37GM - DaveDa da da.
01:13:39Mistress Fria - HowardAnd does the bard's song yet help us shoot
01:13:43Vulf - Pete BOh yes.
01:13:43Jestix - TimOr at least I'm attempting to cast a spell Let's put it that way. Presumably I have to roll.
01:13:47Vulf - Pete Byou have to roll?
01:13:48GM - DaveWhy would he have to roll?
01:13:49Jestix - TimAll right. In which case I cast
01:13:51GM - DaveWhat is it?
01:13:51Jestix - TimShillelagh.
01:13:52GM - DaveIt succeeds.
01:13:53Vulf - Pete BJust works?
01:13:54GM - DaveYou only need to roll things if you're actually in combat and you don't want someone to hit you.
01:13:58Jestix - TimAll right. Okay.
01:13:59GM - DaveOkay, so, Jestix, are you moving up or are you staying where you are?
01:14:02Jestix - TimI'm staying where I am at the moment with everybody else.
01:14:05GM - DaveOkay, so Fria.
01:14:06Mistress Fria - HowardShoot it. Is about the only thing I can do?
01:14:09GM - DaveOk.
01:14:09Mistress Fria - HowardFind myself a nice little angle and shoot. 13.
01:14:13GM - Dave13, don't think it's a hit.
01:14:15Mistress Fria - HowardProbably this ping.
01:14:16GM - DaveYou've just… did you take into account the plus 1 from the Bard?
01:14:20Mistress Fria - HowardOh, 1 more. didn't include the bard's bonus.
01:14:23GM - DaveSo, 14 would be a hit.
01:14:25Mistress Fria - HowardOh, excellent. I actually hit something. That's a d6 plus bard's bonus. That will be 6 points of damage as well. It's plus 1 to hit and damage.
01:14:35Vulf - Pete BYes.
01:14:36GM - DaveThat is enough for it to shatter back
01:14:38Mistress Fria - HowardI've got this.
01:14:40GM - Daveinto…
01:14:40Jestix - TimIt's component part.
01:14:41GM - Davethe component parts, and that one disappears.
01:14:44Mistress Fria - HowardOh, bugger.
01:14:45GM - DaveThere's one less.
01:14:46Mistress Fria - HowardEach one of those is 12 points, we are going to be while.
01:14:49Jestix - TimNot necessarily because it all combines to a 12-point monster.
01:14:52GM - DaveOn its go 20, it will take its full round to try to reassemble itself, okay?
01:14:57Vulf - Pete BOK.
01:14:58GM - DaveAnd it will move forward 4 squares. Then it's a Vulf.
01:15:04Vulf - Pete BI finish doing my inspiration, but it lasts for five rounds, and I'm going to… Can I rage?
01:15:10Mistress Fria - HowardTake a potion of dragons breath and kill it.
01:15:12Vulf - Pete BIf only I had one.
01:15:13Mistress Fria - HowardYou have. We found 5, I gave one to everyone, and the rest are on the mule.
01:15:18Vulf - Pete BMaybe I wasn't there for that.
01:15:19Mistress Fria - HowardRemind me at some point to give you a potion of dragons breath.
01:15:22Vulf - Pete BSorry, just checking to see whether or not my rage and being able to throw things is compatible.
01:15:27GM - DaveI don't think you can rage and throw. I don't think you can throw while raged.
01:15:31Vulf - Pete BThat's all I'm just checking. Can't cast spells, can't use certain feats. Nope, I can. I think throwing something is quite within rage, anyway.
01:15:40Jestix - TimOnly if it's an empty bottle.
01:15:41GM - DaveAnd you do it in a Glaswegian accent.
01:15:43Vulf - Pete BSo I'm going to rage, and I'm going to throw my axe.
01:15:47GM - DaveTotal 12. Miss.
01:15:48Vulf - Pete BOkay. I missed bouncing off it's armour.
01:15:50GM - DaveYep. Lómeril.
01:15:51Jestix - TimShoot it again. It's not got here yet. 14, 17.
01:15:55GM - DaveThat's a hit.
01:15:56Jestix - Tim9 damage.
01:15:57GM - DaveOoh, that's pretty good. Still there, though. Jestix.
01:16:00Jestix - TimWell, given I haven't got a ranged weapon, I will move to engage.
01:16:04GM - DaveOkay, it doesn't have a long range, so you can get there.
01:16:08Jestix - TimAnd then I will Flurry of Blows it.
01:16:10Vulf - Pete BIsn't that part of a full round action?
01:16:12GM - DaveYes, it is.
01:16:13Jestix - TimIn which case I'll just hit it normally. 13, 16, 17.
01:16:17GM - Dave17 to hit.
01:16:17Jestix - TimYeah.
01:16:18GM - DaveHit.
01:16:18Jestix - TimDoing 15 damage.
01:16:21Vulf - Pete BCrikey.
01:16:21Mistress Fria - HowardThat'll hurt.
01:16:22GM - Dave15 damage?
01:16:24Vulf - Pete BThat's a lot of damage, Mr Monk.
01:16:25Jestix - TimYep. The advantage of having a Shillelagh. It becomes a d10 weapon.
01:16:30Vulf - Pete BOoh.
01:16:30Jestix - TimAnd a plus 1 d10 weapon at that.
01:16:32Vulf - Pete BOoh.
01:16:33GM - DaveWow, how much did you just do?
01:16:35Jestix - Tim15.
01:16:36GM - Dave15. So that's, um, just…
01:16:39Vulf - Pete BBits of rock go flying everywhere. Magnificent blow.
01:16:42GM - DaveYep, it does, again, shatter.
01:16:45Mistress Fria - HowardWe've taken out one of his 6 lives.
01:16:47GM - DaveI think the combined is actually more than 20 that time.
01:16:50Vulf - Pete BIt was. It was 24.
01:16:53GM - DaveSo it loses two of its parts.
01:16:56Jestix - TimAt which point Henry then attacks one of the parts.
01:16:58Mistress Fria - HowardI'll break his teeth and stones, poor little dog.
01:17:01Jestix - TimBut they're only small. He'll worry them.
01:17:03GM - DaveGo on, then.
01:17:03Jestix - Tim22.
01:17:04GM - DaveYes, that's a hit.
01:17:05Jestix - TimDoes the dog get your inspiration bonus?
01:17:08Vulf - Pete BYeah, all allies.
01:17:09Jestix - Tim5 damage.
01:17:10Vulf - Pete BI have to say, it's the first time I've really seen you in combat, in anger. Quite impressed with that blow, with your cudgel.
01:17:15GM - DaveSmash. Okay, Fria.
01:17:17Mistress Fria - HowardI will move my 5 feet to ensure that I have as clean a shot as I can. And I will shoot at this big one here, providing it's safe.
01:17:27GM - DaveOkay.
01:17:27Mistress Fria - Howard11 plus 4, so that is 15 to hit.
01:17:31GM - DaveHit.
01:17:32Mistress Fria - HowardMy damage plus 1 is 5. One of the little guys.
01:17:36Jestix - TimI thought you said it's a big guy.
01:17:37Mistress Fria - HowardBut I think of him as little. How big are they?
01:17:40GM - DaveThe tiny one or the small one?
01:17:42Mistress Fria - HowardThe small. The larger of the two.
01:17:45GM - DaveSo that was 5, wasn't it?
01:17:46Jestix - TimYeah.
01:17:47GM - DaveOkay, now beginning the next round.
01:17:49Mistress Fria - HowardNot the place to be, Henry. Vulf and Lómeril, did they move up?
01:17:53Jestix - TimNo, because they…
01:17:54Mistress Fria - HowardThey'll be shooting.
01:17:55Jestix - TimYeah.
01:17:55GM - DaveThis one will move up and attack Jestix. This one will move and attack Vulf. These two will attack Henry. Okay, so Vulf's one does a slam attack against you. He's getting a 10. Jestix is going to do a slam attack against Jestix. Getting a 13, which is probably going to miss as well, isn't it?
01:18:14Jestix - TimYeah.
01:18:15GM - DaveAnd Henry gets two slam attacks. A natural 1 and an 18.
01:18:20Jestix - TimWhich hits?
01:18:21GM - DaveOkay, this is a tiny one, isn't it? Which does a d3 minus 1 damage. Doing 2 points of damage. That's the end of the go. So Vulf, this will be the second or third of your thingy.
01:18:34Vulf - Pete BYep. I attack.
01:18:36GM - DaveOkay.
01:18:37Vulf - Pete B19, so that's going to hit. 11 damage.
01:18:40GM - DaveOkay, still there. Lómeril.
01:18:42Jestix - TimWell, change weapons and hit it.
01:18:44GM - DaveHe's currently within the attack area of something. So if he, um…
01:18:49Vulf - Pete BWell, it wasn't until somebody moved him up there.
01:18:51GM - DaveAh, okay. So he's… So he still doesn't move.
01:18:55Jestix - TimIt will change weapons a move and a hit.
01:18:57GM - DaveYeah, okay. I'll allow that. What's the point in having the speed draw feat then? If you're a fighter or you
01:19:03Vulf - Pete BBecause if you wanted to throw multiple things in a round, for instance, or if you wanted to take out a second weapon, stuff like that.
01:19:10GM - DaveOr you don't have to move.
01:19:12Vulf - Pete BIt's a free action, not part of a move action.
01:19:15Jestix - TimThat's a 20, which is a hit.
01:19:17GM - DaveOkay.
01:19:18Jestix - TimDoing eight damage.
01:19:19GM - DaveDead. Next to go is Jestix.
01:19:23Jestix - TimI will Flurry of Blows the one nearest me. Getting a 20 on the first blow.
01:19:29Vulf - Pete BRolled a 20?
01:19:30Jestix - TimYeah. There's no point rolling it again because you can't crit them, and a miss on the second blow.
01:19:35GM - DaveOkay.
01:19:36Jestix - TimAnd the first blow does 12.
01:19:39GM - DaveYes, dead.
01:19:40Jestix - TimAnd then Henry attacks one of the ones attacking him. Getting… I'll roll off a 17 to make an 8, which is a miss.
01:19:48GM - DaveOkay. The two remaining ones will attack Henry.
01:19:51Vulf - Pete BDoesn't the gnome get a go?
01:19:53GM - DaveNo, sorry. We missed Fria. Sorry, apologies, Howard.
01:19:56Vulf - Pete BFria of shoots, and misses, right, your go.
01:20:00GM - DaveThe small two. So one got a natural 1. Followed by… Oh, just rolled off a 20.
01:20:05Jestix - TimYeah. Well, it seems fairly fair. Mine rolled off a 17.
01:20:08GM - DaveSo that's natural 4. So that's two misses. Followed now by Vulf.
01:20:13Vulf - Pete BI shall move up and hit one of the ones on Henry. 19 to hit.
01:20:17GM - DaveThat's a hit.
01:20:18Vulf - Pete B10 damage.
01:20:19GM - DaveDead. Lómeril.
01:20:21Jestix - TimIf he can get up and attack the other one, he will.
01:20:24Vulf - Pete BYou can't get there, anyway.
01:20:25Jestix - TimGetting a 1.
01:20:26GM - DaveThat's a miss. Jestix.
01:20:28Jestix - TimI will, if I can get it, I will attack it as well.
01:20:31Vulf - Pete BYou may have to go round, but you've got loads of speed, haven't you?
01:20:34Jestix - TimSo normal attack. 5. And Henry attacks. Getting a 12.
01:20:40GM - DaveMiss.
01:20:40Jestix - TimNo, sorry, not 12. 13. Still not enough. 14.
01:20:44Vulf - Pete BHe's going up all the time.
01:20:45GM - DaveActually, I would guess Henry would probably have flanking. So that would be plus 2.
01:20:50Jestix - Tim16. 6 damage.
01:20:53GM - DaveDead.
01:20:54Mistress Fria - HowardI start having a look round.
01:20:55Jestix - TimI will cast my cantrip on Henry, healing one point.
01:21:00Mistress Fria - HowardDid Henry get much for pounding?
01:21:02Jestix - TimI've already cast it, so I can't do that. He took 2 points.
01:21:05Vulf - Pete BHurrah! Victory! He let's out a bellow of
01:21:08Mistress Fria - HowardI have a look at the big book. The triptych.
01:21:12GM - DaveOkay, a triptych here is a three-part picture, Painting.
01:21:15Jestix - TimIt's not a block in the slightest.
01:21:16Vulf - Pete Bof what, though?
01:21:17Jestix - TimIt's three religious pictures, normally. That's the point.
01:21:20Vulf - Pete BA triptych of something nice, or something dodgy?
01:21:22Jestix - TimI wouldn't go running down there to look at the triptych straight away, because there may be more of these things popping out of the alcove.
01:21:28Vulf - Pete BI thought the triptych was here.
01:21:29GM - DaveYes, it is.
01:21:30Jestix - TimAll right. Ok. I assumed it was the other end.
01:21:32GM - DaveYou came into the room, you looked at it, and then looked at the creature's statue.
01:21:35Jestix - TimOk. So while he looks at it, I will carry on looking down the corner, waiting for some more beasties to pop out of the alcoves.
01:21:42GM - DaveIt's made of three flat pieces of ebony, framed in copper, held with copper hinges. The triptych contains a map of the night sky with various small jewels holding the position of stars and planets. It's quite heavy. It's about 300 pounds.
01:21:58Mistress Fria - HowardAppraise
01:21:59GM - DaveOk.
01:22:00Mistress Fria - HowardVulf is actually better at appraising, I think. I will assist Vulf's appraise.
01:22:06Vulf - Pete BWell, if I were you, I would have roll. And you have a roll.
01:22:11Mistress Fria - HowardThen we'll discuss it.
01:22:12Vulf - Pete Bargue about it.
01:22:13Mistress Fria - HowardOkay. My appraise roll is a
01:22:16Vulf - Pete BI'd get to 4.
01:22:18Mistress Fria - HowardI get a 6.
01:22:19GM - DaveIt's a bit of junk, really. It looks impressive, but it isn't really. Yeah, why would someone put this piece of junk in this room? Obviously, it's a trap.
01:22:28Mistress Fria - HowardOk. We've ignored so many artworks. Tapestry, just ignore it and move on.
01:22:33Vulf - Pete BIf it's pretty big, then yeah.
01:22:35GM - DaveI mean, it's obviously paste. The gems are not real.
01:22:37Mistress Fria - HowardYeah.
01:22:38GM - DaveYou initially thought it was ebony, but actually it's just stained pine.
01:22:41Mistress Fria - HowardJust pine and boot polish.
01:22:43GM - DaveYeah.
01:22:43Jestix - TimI'm not entirely convinced by this. I will have my own assessment.
01:22:46GM - DaveHave you got appraise?
01:22:48Jestix - TimYep. 18.
01:22:49GM - DaveIt could be as much as a 1000gp.
01:22:52Vulf - Pete BNo way.
01:22:53Jestix - TimMentally, I agree with that, but I'm a Monk. I don't care. If they think it's tat, it's tat. I will tell them any differently.
01:22:58GM - DaveServes them right for being avarice over wretches.
01:23:01Jestix - TimPrecisely.
01:23:02GM - DaveOkay, so you basically got little alcoves with where these things were.
01:23:07Mistress Fria - HowardHave a look round.
01:23:08GM - DaveBut how detailed a search did you count?
01:23:10Mistress Fria - HowardI'll take 10.
01:23:11GM - DaveOkay, so you wander around the room, taking 10, you find nothing.
01:23:17TimAnd so ends session five of the Dragon's Delve exploration. Join us next time as the adventure continues.
