| 00:00:03 | Tim | Welcome back adventurers to session five of our ongoing journey into the Dragon's Delve, a dungeon of danger, mystery and ancient power. Our heroes press deeper into the labyrinths, twisting corridors, facing new perils and uncovering secrets long buried beneath the earth. So grab your dice, ready your spells and join us once more as we descend into the Dragon's Delve |
| 00:00:32 | GM - Dave | You're perfectly welcome to try to kill as many NPC's |
| 00:00:35 | Jestix - Tim | so long as you get about 320 experience. |
| 00:00:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's a really interesting one, that you guys talking about Lawful Good is actually, Fria In my mind, is chaotic neutral, but at the moment, she wants the party to be organised because that's what's keeping her alive. It's really interesting to see how Vulf is playing a chaotic, just barbaric, going and kick everything and just do it out of impatience, whereas Fria is not impatient, but she is chaotic. And at the moment, I would say I'm playing more true neutral, or even slightly, apparently, lawful neutral, or even chaotic neutral. You can argue about these things forever, and people can and do. They had debates in which they killed people in the Middle Ages over that sort of thing. It's nice to hear that you guys debate, so what's the word, carefully and politely. |
| 00:01:41 | Vulf - Pete B | It's only a game, after all. |
| 00:01:42 | GM - Dave | Right guys, if I remember rightly you have just killed a scorpion here. |
| 00:01:48 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, we've killed baby scorpions, and there was scuttering from other places. |
| 00:01:54 | GM - Dave | There's noise from down this corridor that way and from this way, that way and down that way. |
| 00:02:02 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, so we have ominous maw scorpions. They're not impossible to kill, but they're very dangerous, but they're very dumb. So I think we've set up a scorpion slaughterhouse. What do you think, guys? |
| 00:02:16 | Jestix - Tim | It's encouraging them to come to us, but then there's stuff both ways, so whatever we do will potentially encourage stuff in both directions. |
| 00:02:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Well, maybe we go back to where we killed mum, and we put a small blockage and we kill them with a missile. |
| 00:02:29 | Jestix - Tim | i.e. you. |
| 00:02:30 | Mistress Fria - Howard | If anyone can use a bow, we have a bow and twelve arrows. |
| 00:02:33 | Jestix - Tim | I can't use a bone. |
| 00:02:34 | Lómeril - Pete | I think I can. |
| 00:02:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Mr Lómeril, I would be surprised if an elf fighter couldn't use a bow. I believe we have a masterwork. |
| 00:02:41 | Ahumstut - James | Elves get automatic proficiency with bows. |
| 00:02:45 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We could get a few old tables. I don't think I've seen that much furniture. |
| 00:02:51 | Ahumstut - James | And a longsword for that matter. |
| 00:02:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Build a barricade and somehow attract them to us and just slaughter them. |
| 00:02:58 | Jestix - Tim | Or we could just go one way or the other and see what's there. Don't assume. |
| 00:03:02 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, how about I sneak down |
| 00:03:05 | Jestix - Tim | That's a good idea. That's what you're here for. |
| 00:03:07 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I sneak down towards APN. |
| 00:03:10 | GM - Dave | It's dark, I can tell you that for |
| 00:03:12 | Mistress Fria - Howard | These guys have some light, so I would say this is in the penumbra of low light, and I have low light vision. |
| 00:03:19 | GM - Dave | You can probably make out a scorpion -like creature there. |
| 00:03:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | One or two? |
| 00:03:24 | GM - Dave | It seems to be a singular. |
| 00:03:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, I walk carefully back. There appears to be a scorpion in that room. Shall I go and have a look at the other one? |
| 00:03:31 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, go for it. |
| 00:03:32 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I pause briefly by this door to examine it. |
| 00:03:35 | GM - Dave | As I only rolled a 10, Howard, I'm not going to make you roll a stealth, but you might want to consider it. |
| 00:03:40 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Well, we did just kill its brother with lots of yelling, grunting, and smashing. So if it didn't notice that and come out, it shan't have been noticing me creeping up and having a look at it. |
| 00:03:51 | GM - Dave | That's why it needed to get quite high, it's not that bothered. you're creeping down here, yeah? |
| 00:03:56 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I examine that door briefly, and I peer around the corner. |
| 00:03:59 | GM - Dave | You think round the corner there's another one there, and it doesn't look like it's actually paying an awful lot of attention, and no, it's not. |
| 00:04:06 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And what about the corridor going north? |
| 00:04:09 | GM - Dave | The corridor turns east. Just there it turns east, okay? |
| 00:04:14 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Go back, tell them. You've got one on either direction. If we are unlucky, they will all attack at once. If not, we take them one at a time. The one down here looks like it's boxed in. It has no escape, whereas the other one, the corridor goes on. I think we'll take the boxed in one first, because there might be more than one if we go to the one at APN. |
| 00:04:36 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 00:04:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | What do you think, guys? I could start proceeding by shooting it with a crossbow and retreating until you can get it into a position where you would be happy to flank it. For example, and I'm just going to use my character, if we had a small ambush here, we could then attack it from two sides. |
| 00:04:57 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. Works for me. |
| 00:04:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, so I will be bait. Who wishes to be ambushed in the corridor? |
| 00:05:03 | Ahumstut - James | I will be bait. Famous last words. |
| 00:05:06 | Vulf - Pete B | I look on his face as though, hmm, quite impressed by all this strategy. |
| 00:05:10 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Mr. Poole, would you like to take the front centre, or would you want to ambush it? |
| 00:05:16 | Vulf - Pete B | Front, centre. |
| 00:05:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, I will attract it and shoot it, and then I will retreat back past you, keeping its attention, and I hope greatly that you will assist it from not eating me. |
| 00:05:31 | Jestix - Tim | Lómeril, where do you want to be? |
| 00:05:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Ambush or front dead centre? |
| 00:05:36 | Lómeril - Pete | Dead centre with a bow so I can get a shot off. |
| 00:05:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay. |
| 00:05:39 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll have my hand axe and my throwing axe ready to, if he comes around the corner, to chuck at it. |
| 00:05:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I sneak up to just where I can see it, and I try my best surprise attack with a crossbow to shoot it. I take all the time in the world to aim and smack it. Hopefully, someone ever hurts. Are there any bonuses for sort of taking aim? |
| 00:05:58 | Vulf - Pete B | No, but you might be able to, you can probably get a sneak on it, though. |
| 00:06:01 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Can I use my rogue sneak? |
| 00:06:03 | Ahumstut - James | Just has to be not acted / flat-footed. |
| 00:06:07 | GM - Dave | Yes, you have to have done a stealth up to it. |
| 00:06:09 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I can stealth. |
| 00:06:10 | Vulf - Pete B | Within 30 feet. |
| 00:06:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So I will stealth up. That is what it requires. Oh, fuck it. I'm not very stealthy, but then I'm bait. So that's fine. I accidentally drop something very loud as I'm breaching. |
| 00:06:23 | GM - Dave | You get to about there, it |
| 00:06:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | A natural one, and it sees me, and I then run. |
| 00:06:27 | GM - Dave | Then scutters, scutters, scutters in your general direction, and then we'll roll initiatives. |
| 00:06:31 | Mistress Fria - Howard | My initiative. |
| 00:06:32 | Vulf - Pete B | Can I have a readied action? When he comes around the corner to throw my axe, is that reasonable? |
| 00:06:37 | GM - Dave | Initiative guys? |
| 00:06:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | 4, I'm rolling badly today. Get the crap ones out. |
| 00:06:43 | GM - Dave | Lómeril got 17, so |
| 00:06:45 | Lómeril - Pete | Yep. |
| 00:06:45 | Jestix - Tim | 10. |
| 00:06:46 | Vulf - Pete B | 23. |
| 00:06:47 | GM - Dave | Jestix was 21. So tell me what's Jestix? |
| 00:06:50 | Jestix - Tim | 10. |
| 00:06:51 | GM - Dave | 10, and 23 for Vulf. Okay, so Vulf is actually going to go first, and then you go on to hold, or whatever, delay, readied action. |
| 00:07:00 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah. |
| 00:07:00 | GM - Dave | Next to go will be the Scorpion itself, who can |
| 00:07:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's going to close on me. |
| 00:07:05 | GM - Dave | move eight squares. |
| 00:07:07 | Ahumstut - James | It's a speedy boy. |
| 00:07:08 | GM - Dave | It will get right up to Freya, and then go for the attack, and I believe Vulf wanted to do something. |
| 00:07:14 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Smack it, please. |
| 00:07:15 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, throw my axe. |
| 00:07:16 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I cocked up the sneak. This is where the game mechanic pain. |
| 00:07:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Roll a d20, you see what I get. It's gonna be around 13, possibly less. |
| 00:07:24 | GM - Dave | AC 13, |
| 00:07:25 | Vulf - Pete B | Yep. |
| 00:07:26 | GM - Dave | You need to do better than that. |
| 00:07:27 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay, when it bounces off, it's a chitinous armour, then, I guess. |
| 00:07:30 | GM - Dave | Okay, well, it will do |
| 00:07:32 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Chitinous armour, well done. |
| 00:07:34 | GM - Dave | a singular claw attack against you because it's moved. |
| 00:07:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oopsie. |
| 00:07:38 | GM - Dave | Luckily, I've already just rolled the 20, but it rolled a 19, so I think that is probably going to be a hit, because your AC would need to be 21. |
| 00:07:46 | Mistress Fria - Howard | My AC is 13, I'm afraid. |
| 00:07:48 | GM - Dave | It will do you 4 points of damage, |
| 00:07:51 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Ouch. |
| 00:07:51 | GM - Dave | and a grappler attack was hit with a claw STR modifier DEX modifier for grappler check, whichever is better. |
| 00:07:57 | Mistress Fria - Howard | My DEX would be better. Opposed roll |
| 00:08:00 | Ahumstut - James | Opposed grapple roll. Yours is based on STR though. |
| 00:08:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Doing STR. |
| 00:08:04 | Ahumstut - James | It's always STR but because he's got the scorpion's got the improved grab feat they can use either STR or DEX. |
| 00:08:10 | Jestix - Tim | Scorpion can do either, you can't. |
| 00:08:12 | GM - Dave | And I think as it's just got 21… |
| 00:08:14 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I can't actually do better than 21, I don't think. I got a 16. I got minus 1. I did well, but not very well. |
| 00:08:21 | GM - Dave | Right, so you have been grappled. It actually makes no difference at this moment in time, just as I said, you have to try to escape. Next go, if you're still grappled, it just gets auto-damage on you. |
| 00:08:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm not actually pulling it back into our killing zone. |
| 00:08:36 | GM - Dave | Lómeril |
| 00:08:37 | Lómeril - Pete | Oh dear, the boss is being waved around like a- Like a flag. |
| 00:08:41 | Jestix - Tim | That's a flag, saying shoot, shoot. |
| 00:08:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, I am saying shoot. |
| 00:08:45 | Lómeril - Pete | Shoot the hobbit. |
| 00:08:46 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah, it's a gnome. |
| 00:08:47 | Lómeril - Pete | Try to shoot the scorpion. That was a 17, so I think I can get plus 2. That's 19. I don't know if it's a- What is it? Is it a normal bow or a master bow? |
| 00:08:58 | Jestix - Tim | Masterwork. |
| 00:08:59 | GM - Dave | you another plus 1. |
| 00:09:00 | Lómeril - Pete | 20. What damage does it do? |
| 00:09:02 | Ahumstut - James | Minus 4 firing into combat / grappling. |
| 00:09:06 | Jestix - Tim | 16. |
| 00:09:07 | GM - Dave | 16, still hit, still hit. |
| 00:09:09 | Lómeril - Pete | Is there a size penalty or a size benefit? Because it's a gnome in the claw of a giant scorpion. |
| 00:09:14 | Ahumstut - James | It's just a straight negative. |
| 00:09:16 | Lómeril - Pete | How much damage for an arrow? |
| 00:09:17 | Vulf - Pete B | Er, what bow is it? |
| 00:09:18 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Long. |
| 00:09:19 | Ahumstut - James | D8. |
| 00:09:19 | Vulf - Pete B | D8. |
| 00:09:20 | Lómeril - Pete | 1. |
| 00:09:20 | Jestix - Tim | Tickled it. |
| 00:09:21 | Lómeril - Pete | 1 point of damage. |
| 00:09:22 | GM - Dave | Jestix. |
| 00:09:23 | Jestix - Tim | Well, it hasn't arrived yet, so I don't yet know that it's all gone hideously wrong |
| 00:09:27 | GM - Dave | You might have heard the squeak of Fria, though. Okay, so you've got to stay on hold for the moment. |
| 00:09:31 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 00:09:32 | GM - Dave | Fria, you can try to escape, which would be an opposed grapple check, or escape artist, if you've got it. |
| 00:09:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Good question. I don't think I have escape artists. |
| 00:09:40 | Jestix - Tim | What a thief with no escape, artist. |
| 00:09:42 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Escape artists I have plus 2. And if it's opposed STR, I'm at minus 1 So I'll use my plus 2 escape artist. |
| 00:09:49 | Ahumstut - James | It's an opposed. The opponent uses grapple. Use either grapple or escape artist. |
| 00:09:55 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And I'll use escape artist. I don't think I have a grapple at all in terms of skill. |
| 00:10:00 | GM - Dave | You do have a default grappler, but it's not really very good. |
| 00:10:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | A 15. |
| 00:10:04 | GM - Dave | Oh, and it gets a 3, so it's got a 5, so you make it, and you wriggle out. |
| 00:10:09 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, I wriggle out. And if I can use… Can I use my move without attacking? Can I back off 5 feet? |
| 00:10:16 | GM - Dave | I think so. |
| 00:10:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That is the plan. I'm backing off as fast as I can. Well, quite frankly, if I can break off and run at this point. Without attracting attention. |
| 00:10:26 | Jestix - Tim | Attack of opportunity. |
| 00:10:27 | GM - Dave | I think if you do a full move, you do provoke. |
| 00:10:30 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I will do a full move. If I get a full move, I do… |
| 00:10:34 | GM - Dave | You provoke an attack of opportunity, but I think if you make a five-foot step, you don't. |
| 00:10:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Then a 5 foot step is fine. I'm trying to stay alive here. |
| 00:10:41 | Ahumstut - James | Withdrawing means that the square on doesn't count towards the thing. |
| 00:10:47 | GM - Dave | Yes, but you can't withdraw, because that's a full round. That's what I mean. You have to use his attack to escape. |
| 00:10:52 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So it's just a 5 foot. |
| 00:10:54 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 00:10:54 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I get nearly to the corner. |
| 00:10:56 | GM - Dave | I would think that Jestix might be able to see the fact that Freya is coming this way now, but I would imagine she's still going to stay on hold, aren't you? |
| 00:11:05 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah, because it looks like the plan might be working. |
| 00:11:07 | GM - Dave | So, next round. Vulf |
| 00:11:09 | Jestix - Tim | Fria was obviously just trying to attract his attention. |
| 00:11:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh God, I did that. I was pretty damaged before we started. Leased to all. |
| 00:11:15 | Vulf - Pete B | I charge forwards and attack the creature. |
| 00:11:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Thank you. Not quite the plan. |
| 00:11:19 | Vulf - Pete B | I want to try and hit this thing to dissuade it from going after the cute and fluffy little gnome. |
| 00:11:23 | GM - Dave | Fria, you can have an attack of opportunity against Vulf as he runs by. |
| 00:11:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | He did call me cute. My hand might have to take him out for that. |
| 00:11:30 | Vulf - Pete B | I've seen the picture. Definitely cute. |
| 00:11:32 | Jestix - Tim | But I'm not sure about Fluffy. |
| 00:11:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | But the hair is pretty fluffy. |
| 00:11:35 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, pretty damn fluffy. 2, 15, 17 to hit. |
| 00:11:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That'll hurt. |
| 00:11:40 | Vulf - Pete B | 10 damage. |
| 00:11:41 | GM - Dave | Okay, it's still there. It is grievously hurt, but it's still there. Okay, it's now the scorpion's go, and there seems to be an individual who can do its full round against, so it will. Joy, Pete. Have… oh, that'll be a hit, so that'll be 19, probably. |
| 00:11:55 | Vulf - Pete B | Er, well, I've got an AC of 17, so I'm suggesting it's probably gonna hit. |
| 00:11:59 | GM - Dave | So that's one claw. The second claw misses you, and it'll try to sting you, |
| 00:12:04 | Vulf - Pete B | Not sting me… |
| 00:12:05 | GM - Dave | that's only 1, so it's a miss. |
| 00:12:07 | Vulf - Pete B | Hurrah! |
| 00:12:08 | GM - Dave | You get a claw, 5 points of damage, and then it'll try to grapple you with its claw, which will be a 18. |
| 00:12:16 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll have to make a grapple check, they say. |
| 00:12:18 | GM - Dave | Yeah, it successfully got you. |
| 00:12:20 | Vulf - Pete B | It beats my grapple. I get 9. |
| 00:12:22 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you're currently in its claw, and its soulless, beady eyes stare at you |
| 00:12:28 | Vulf - Pete B | Dumb beastie. |
| 00:12:30 | GM - Dave | Lómeril, 17. |
| 00:12:31 | Lómeril - Pete | Drop the bow, grab up the longsword and run down the passageway to get help. |
| 00:12:37 | GM - Dave | One, two, three, four, five, six. |
| 00:12:40 | Vulf - Pete B | Should be able to have an attack. |
| 00:12:41 | GM - Dave | Yes, I would think so. You could probably do a charge together, because |
| 00:12:44 | Vulf - Pete B | Well, providing you move 30… Does Lómeril move at 30 or 20? |
| 00:12:48 | Lómeril - Pete | It's a very good question, where's move on the character. 20 because of my armour, I imagine. |
| 00:12:54 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah, so he won't get there. |
| 00:12:56 | GM - Dave | you'll need to take a move action to draw, so you won't be able to get… |
| 00:13:00 | Vulf - Pete B | Not if you've got an attack bonus of 1 or higher. You can do it as part of a move action. |
| 00:13:05 | GM - Dave | Oh, okay, so then you can do a double move, which can do a charge. |
| 00:13:08 | Vulf - Pete B | Oh yeah, I suppose so. |
| 00:13:09 | Ahumstut - James | No, there's people in the way. You can't charge through anyone's square. |
| 00:13:13 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you can't get there. I'd say you can get there, but you can't charge. |
| 00:13:18 | Lómeril - Pete | Okay. |
| 00:13:18 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Only a little, gnome. |
| 00:13:20 | Lómeril - Pete | I'll get there. |
| 00:13:20 | Ahumstut - James | Place could shove prayer aside. |
| 00:13:22 | GM - Dave | And you can have an attack, yes. |
| 00:13:24 | Lómeril - Pete | What if I kick the boss out of the way? |
| 00:13:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Perfectly reasonable. |
| 00:13:26 | Lómeril - Pete | I'll charge up, take like a step off the gnome. |
| 00:13:30 | GM - Dave | Bank shot. Okay, Jestix, you go next, and you probably now see two of your compatriots run past. |
| 00:13:36 | Jestix - Tim | In which case, I'll come around the corner, see what's going on, because obviously the plan's gone pear-shaped. |
| 00:13:41 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah. |
| 00:13:41 | Vulf - Pete B | Utterly. |
| 00:13:41 | GM - Dave | I don't think there's anything you can actually do, is there? |
| 00:13:43 | Jestix - Tim | No. |
| 00:13:44 | GM - Dave | Not unless you can tumble through people. |
| 00:13:46 | Jestix - Tim | I can tumble, but I'm not going to. I'm not very good at tumbling. |
| 00:13:49 | GM - Dave | Fria. |
| 00:13:49 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Apart from the fact I just been push out of the way. Can I shoot at it? |
| 00:13:54 | GM - Dave | minus 4. |
| 00:13:55 | Mistress Fria - Howard | No, it's not worth it. These two have got their backs to me. Can I stamp between them? and Colour spray it. Because it just hurts. |
| 00:14:02 | GM - Dave | Yeah, but I think you'd need to make a spellcraft roll, just to make sure you don't include your compatriots. |
| 00:14:07 | Jestix - Tim | That would be very bad. Possibly terminal. |
| 00:14:09 | Vulf - Pete B | Very funny, though. So how did the campaign end, then? |
| 00:14:12 | Jestix - Tim | The gnome colour-sprayed the fighters while they were in combat. |
| 00:14:15 | GM - Dave | Considering this is the first time Fria has done this, the party may wish to acquire some dark sunglasses. |
| 00:14:21 | Mistress Fria - Howard | This is not the first time I've done this. |
| 00:14:24 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah, that's what he said. Or break her fingers. |
| 00:14:26 | Vulf - Pete B | The Tim approved method. |
| 00:14:27 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Guys, incoming spell. I'm spraying him. It's only a 9. Probably not enough for a spell casting roll. It wasn't a cock-up, but it wasn't Excellent. |
| 00:14:37 | GM - Dave | I think that means your compatriots are included. |
| 00:14:40 | Ahumstut - James | Will saves for everyone. |
| 00:14:42 | GM - Dave | I think it's reasonable to give them a bonus on their will saves, as they are not technically looking in the same direction. |
| 00:14:48 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm firing from their kneecap at it and something in front of it. |
| 00:14:51 | GM - Dave | I give you plus 4 on your will saves. |
| 00:14:54 | Jestix - Tim | And that's the problem. Instead of going forward, you're going up. |
| 00:14:56 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So plus 4 at… So which roll do I… |
| 00:14:59 | GM - Dave | No, you don't. |
| 00:15:00 | Ahumstut - James | It's the other. |
| 00:15:00 | Jestix - Tim | They have to make a plus 4 willpower. |
| 00:15:03 | GM - Dave | You've got a DC by your spell. |
| 00:15:05 | Vulf - Pete B | Willpower, saving throw, Ay. Er, yes, the natural enemy of the barbarian. |
| 00:15:09 | Jestix - Tim | Yes. |
| 00:15:10 | Lómeril - Pete | 12. |
| 00:15:11 | GM - Dave | I think you probably made it peak. |
| 00:15:12 | Lómeril - Pete | If I get plus 4. |
| 00:15:13 | GM - Dave | If that hadn't got the plus 4 in it. |
| 00:15:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | for warning. |
| 00:15:16 | GM - Dave | What's your Howard? Do you know what it is? |
| 00:15:18 | Mistress Fria - Howard | DC 15. |
| 00:15:19 | Vulf - Pete B | 15? |
| 00:15:20 | Lómeril - Pete | Fail then. |
| 00:15:20 | Ahumstut - James | How's it 15? |
| 00:15:21 | GM - Dave | That's pretty good. |
| 00:15:22 | Vulf - Pete B | For a first level spell? Good lord, man. |
| 00:15:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm quite good. |
| 00:15:25 | Ahumstut - James | Oh yeah, because gnome. They're good at illusions. |
| 00:15:29 | Jestix - Tim | So you've just taken the front line of fighters out. Have you taken… |
| 00:15:32 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Lómeril got 16. He rolled 12 and got plus 4. |
| 00:15:34 | Lómeril - Pete | No. 12 total. |
| 00:15:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Ah. |
| 00:15:37 | Lómeril - Pete | 3. |
| 00:15:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Damn. Have I taken out the scorpion as well? |
| 00:15:39 | GM - Dave | He's just knocked you unconscious again, I think. |
| 00:15:42 | Lómeril - Pete | Yeah, well done. |
| 00:15:43 | Ahumstut - James | Wait, how many hit dice? |
| 00:15:44 | GM - Dave | 2. |
| 00:15:44 | Ahumstut - James | I'm conscious for D4. |
| 00:15:46 | GM - Dave | What about Vulf? |
| 00:15:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, the scorpion's the one I'm worried about. |
| 00:15:49 | Jestix - Tim | He's unconscious as well. He failed. |
| 00:15:50 | GM - Dave | They both failed. |
| 00:15:51 | Vulf - Pete B | Well, I did roll a natural 1. |
| 00:15:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oops, I'm not good at this am I. |
| 00:15:55 | GM - Dave | Something tells me that you lot might want to have a talk with your gnome. Right, it's a two-hit dice creature, so it falls unconscious, too. |
| 00:16:01 | Jestix - Tim | In which case, I will go in and kill it while stamping on the gnome what |
| 00:16:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, kill it. Make sure it's utterly dead and then I bring the boys round. |
| 00:16:07 | GM - Dave | I'll roll some damage, Tim. |
| 00:16:08 | Vulf - Pete B | If you're doing a coup de grâce, you should get critical damage, and it has to make a saving throw. |
| 00:16:12 | GM - Dave | Does he not have to roll to hit? |
| 00:16:14 | Vulf - Pete B | No. |
| 00:16:14 | Jestix - Tim | What is critical damage. Double damage? |
| 00:16:16 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, it's because of only a weapon, but you often double, but it can be more… |
| 00:16:19 | Jestix - Tim | Quarterstaff. |
| 00:16:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, double. So it doubled everything, so it doubled his strength as well. |
| 00:16:23 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. 8, 16. |
| 00:16:24 | GM - Dave | It is dead, and it failed its saving throw. |
| 00:16:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, I bring the boys round with a glass of wine |
| 00:16:29 | GM - Dave | A few rounds later, 4 rounds later, you two wake up, but then there's a couple of rounds of blindness, isn't there? |
| 00:16:34 | Ahumstut - James | Couple rounds of blindness, d4, then stun for a round. |
| 00:16:38 | Vulf - Pete B | I can't see! |
| 00:16:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It'll come back in a moment. Scorpion's gone. |
| 00:16:41 | Jestix - Tim | While they're moaning, I'll go and have a look around the room Scorpion was in. |
| 00:16:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'll look after them and just keep an eye for the other scorpions coming out behind us. And also grab the mule just slightly closer. And we slain some boys. I let a grenade off. |
| 00:16:55 | Jestix - Tim | Again. |
| 00:16:55 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Again. |
| 00:16:56 | Vulf - Pete B | Whoa, that was really bright. |
| 00:16:58 | Jestix - Tim | Unfortunately, the gnome isn't. |
| 00:17:00 | Mistress Fria - Howard | The gnome has two hit points. |
| 00:17:02 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah, So you should have gone the other way. |
| 00:17:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I don't back down, that easily. It had riled me, gentlemen. I'm sorry. I hope that your heads recover in a moment. Have more beer. |
| 00:17:11 | Vulf - Pete B | All's well that ends well, I suppose, but yeah. Maybe not do that again. |
| 00:17:15 | GM - Dave | Okay, Jestix, it's reasonably obvious that this piece of corridor here is a newer construction than the one you have just left. |
| 00:17:25 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. This is original complex. This is something someone's added on more recently, |
| 00:17:29 | GM - Dave | Yes. |
| 00:17:30 | Jestix - Tim | but there aren't any doors in there. |
| 00:17:31 | GM - Dave | No. There is a mosaic showing |
| 00:17:33 | Jestix - Tim | Mosaic. What's it a mosaic of? |
| 00:17:36 | GM - Dave | a vague humanoid shape on the floor. |
| 00:17:38 | Jestix - Tim | Cleaning it up a bit while I'm waiting. |
| 00:17:40 | GM - Dave | The figure seems to be a kind of crude bear with kind of insect bits. |
| 00:17:46 | Jestix - Tim | A crude bear with inset bits. |
| 00:17:48 | GM - Dave | Yeah, like insect wings. |
| 00:17:50 | Jestix - Tim | Oh, right. Insect. |
| 00:17:52 | GM - Dave | But it looks a bit like a giant kind of crude bear with insects. Kind of mandibles things. |
| 00:17:58 | Jestix - Tim | Oh. |
| 00:17:59 | Vulf - Pete B | Sort of a bear covered in some sort of bug thing. |
| 00:18:02 | GM - Dave | Yes. |
| 00:18:02 | Vulf - Pete B | Bear bug, perhaps. |
| 00:18:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Not an owlbear. |
| 00:18:05 | Jestix - Tim | Bugbear. |
| 00:18:05 | GM - Dave | Yes, something like that. It does look a bit weird. |
| 00:18:08 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Owlbears are more beaky. |
| 00:18:09 | Jestix - Tim | More owl-ish. |
| 00:18:10 | GM - Dave | Do you by chance have stone-working or knowledge of dungeoneering? |
| 00:18:14 | Jestix - Tim | No. |
| 00:18:14 | GM - Dave | So, that's it. |
| 00:18:15 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. Okay. And then I'll come back and wait for Fria to explain to my companions why she shot them in the face. |
| 00:18:21 | Vulf - Pete B | Actually, it wasn't in the face. |
| 00:18:22 | Ahumstut - James | He was in the back. |
| 00:18:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | In the kneecaps. |
| 00:18:24 | Vulf - Pete B | Whilst they were defending her from the beast. |
| 00:18:26 | GM - Dave | There's a large amount of some kind of big prawn-like creature that could probably be very tasty. |
| 00:18:32 | Vulf - Pete B | Extra eating tonight, lads. |
| 00:18:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, cook it up well. Supplement the rations. |
| 00:18:35 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you two come around, your eyes start to readjust. |
| 00:18:39 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll spend the requisite time just to get used to life again, and finish parading Fria. Don't need to do that too many times. Say, one of you priestly types, or woodlandy types, got any curing? Have you used it all up today? |
| 00:18:51 | Jestix - Tim | Used it all up today, I think. |
| 00:18:52 | Lómeril - Pete | Oh, I still got some. |
| 00:18:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Those claws were big. |
| 00:18:55 | Vulf - Pete B | You look even worse than I do, and I don't feel well. |
| 00:18:57 | Lómeril - Pete | Get 8 point's back. |
| 00:18:59 | Vulf - Pete B | Ooh, thank you. Feel re-energised. |
| 00:19:02 | GM - Dave | What would you like to do next, guys? |
| 00:19:03 | Jestix - Tim | Well, there's another one at the other end. Why don't we send a gnome to colour spray it first? |
| 00:19:07 | GM - Dave | Ah, the alternative strategy. |
| 00:19:10 | Vulf - Pete B | That does sound quite good, but… Can't afford to have a being eaten. |
| 00:19:14 | Mistress Fria - Howard | No, I certainly can't afford to be eaten again. I'm rather unwell. |
| 00:19:19 | Vulf - Pete B | We can make a noise and see if we can attract it around the corner, and then shoot things at it until it dies. |
| 00:19:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That would be ideal. We have just made quite a bit of noise. I don't think they're hearing, so I think we just throw something down there to attract its attention and shoot it as it approaches. |
| 00:19:35 | Jestix - Tim | Gnome throwing? |
| 00:19:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Have you realised anything about the dangers of suggesting that? |
| 00:19:41 | Jestix - Tim | No. I know the dangers of everything being around gnome's , it doesn't make any difference. I've seen it repeatedly. He keeps shooting the fighters in the face. |
| 00:19:49 | Vulf - Pete B | Do you have colour spray? Not colour spray, dancing lights. |
| 00:19:51 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I do. |
| 00:19:52 | Vulf - Pete B | Good. Well, I suggest if it doesn't react too much to noise, maybe some dancing lights might attract it. And if we all stay here-ish, we can then A. ambush it, and B. shoot things at it. So if we send the dancing lights down to here, |
| 00:20:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm just getting over my anger at the monk at the moment. If you get set up, I'll be with you in a moment. |
| 00:20:11 | Vulf - Pete B | way you don't have to go down there. |
| 00:20:12 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I take a moment and I put the dancing lights. I can move the lights, can't I? |
| 00:20:17 | Vulf - Pete B | Yes, that's one of the advantages of them. |
| 00:20:19 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So I shall put them as far down here as possible to attract it into sight and illuminate it. |
| 00:20:25 | Vulf - Pete B | And then bring it back up again. |
| 00:20:26 | GM - Dave | Yeah, that's quite reasonable. I think it comes |
| 00:20:29 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I don't have to bring it towards us. Once it's in range and illuminated I will try and keep it where it is. If it sees us and advances, I will keep it illuminated. |
| 00:20:38 | GM - Dave | around the corner, and what are you lot doing? |
| 00:20:40 | Vulf - Pete B | Throwing things at it. |
| 00:20:42 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you're not hiding or anything like that. |
| 00:20:44 | Jestix - Tim | I am hiding, because I haven't got anything to throw at it. |
| 00:20:47 | GM - Dave | Vulf is here. Lómeril, where are you going to be? |
| 00:20:50 | Lómeril - Pete | Where I was. |
| 00:20:50 | Jestix - Tim | But then you can't see it's shooting it, probably. |
| 00:20:52 | Lómeril - Pete | Well, I'm assuming he's going to rush up that tunnel in like one round. The last one moved really fast, so I'm just not going to bother. |
| 00:21:00 | GM - Dave | It'll be in the centre of view straight away, yes. |
| 00:21:03 | Lómeril - Pete | Yep. |
| 00:21:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That's if it seises. If I can keep it moving around down there for a round, distracted, I shall. |
| 00:21:09 | GM - Dave | Okay, so we use the initiative we've already got. So Vulf, you can go first. |
| 00:21:13 | Vulf - Pete B | I'm going to wait for it to get a bit closer. It's a bit too far for me to throw it. Readying it when you get to 10 feet away, lob. |
| 00:21:19 | GM - Dave | It'll be somewhere there, won't it? |
| 00:21:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay, when it comes into closer range, lob. |
| 00:21:23 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 00:21:23 | Vulf - Pete B | 16 to hit. |
| 00:21:24 | GM - Dave | That's a hit. |
| 00:21:25 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Before it gets close range, the other guys with prepared actions might be able to shoot it as well before then. As long as we all shoot it. |
| 00:21:33 | GM - Dave | Actually, that's a good point. I would suggest you all got prepared actions, so yes. |
| 00:21:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | The moment it's in range for Lómeril or… does Jestix have a range weapon? |
| 00:21:43 | Jestix - Tim | Nope. |
| 00:21:44 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay, Dave, I did 6 damage with my throwing axe. |
| 00:21:47 | GM - Dave | We'll go in order of initiative. So Vulf, then it will be Lómeril. |
| 00:21:52 | Lómeril - Pete | Are you saying I can have a bow shot and then be ready for close combat immediately? |
| 00:21:56 | GM - Dave | Yes. |
| 00:21:57 | Lómeril - Pete | Okay. |
| 00:21:58 | GM - Dave | This is your delayed action from the previous round. |
| 00:22:01 | Lómeril - Pete | All right, that's what I did. so 17. |
| 00:22:04 | Jestix - Tim | That's a hit. |
| 00:22:04 | Lómeril - Pete | That's 8 points of damage this time. |
| 00:22:07 | GM - Dave | dead. Good strategy this time, and you got it. |
| 00:22:09 | Vulf - Pete B | High five the elf. |
| 00:22:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I shall wander and examine that door. |
| 00:22:15 | GM - Dave | This door? A reasonably large, ornate, double door. It's quite old, but it's a better quality and newer than most of the other doors you've seen so far. |
| 00:22:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Do we want to go and check out things that lair? Just cases, guys? Or shall we go to the door and do the lair later? |
| 00:22:33 | Jestix - Tim | Do the lair now, because we've already cleared it. |
| 00:22:35 | Lómeril - Pete | Yep. |
| 00:22:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'll sneak down to there and have a look. |
| 00:22:38 | GM - Dave | Okay, and you find some remains of creatures, but nothing else. |
| 00:22:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I like the idea of a double door. A corridor going up in every direction. |
| 00:22:47 | Vulf - Pete B | And a suspicious-looking mosaic over here, apparently. |
| 00:22:49 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, I saw that. It looks like some sort of bear. I will check if it is locked and check for traps. |
| 00:22:56 | GM - Dave | Yes. |
| 00:22:56 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Not necessarily in that order. |
| 00:22:58 | GM - Dave | You're on which you're going to be first. |
| 00:22:59 | Mistress Fria - Howard | This is detect traps. So this is just a search. Natural 15. I think that's a 20. That's not very good, actually. It's trap working. |
| 00:23:09 | GM - Dave | You don't detect any traps. |
| 00:23:10 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Then is it locked? |
| 00:23:12 | GM - Dave | There's a keyhole. |
| 00:23:13 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, we've got some keys. Have… Lómeril, did you keep the keys? Who had the keys? |
| 00:23:17 | Lómeril - Pete | I don't remember having keys. |
| 00:23:19 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We found some keys in one of the earlier rooms and somebody picked them up. Maybe it was Jestix. |
| 00:23:25 | GM - Dave | Or you. |
| 00:23:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Or me. They were on high hook. So I don't remember it being me but if it was me, then I will try the keys. |
| 00:23:32 | GM - Dave | None of these keys fit this keyhole. |
| 00:23:34 | Jestix - Tim | Not on my list. |
| 00:23:35 | GM - Dave | It does look quite an ornate hole. So it looks like it would take in an ornate key. |
| 00:23:40 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay. But is it locked? It has a keyhole but is it locked? Give it a very gentle push. |
| 00:23:46 | GM - Dave | The door moved. |
| 00:23:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, I think it's open, guys. I'm going to back off and let you guys explore. I back off and cover them with my crossbow. So I'm currently at the corner covering them with a crossbow. |
| 00:23:58 | GM - Dave | Okay, who's opening the door? Vulf? |
| 00:24:01 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, I'll open the door. Best make sure everybody's ready. |
| 00:24:03 | GM - Dave | This chamber is lit by a continual flame spell on the ceiling. There seems to be the sound of movement in this room, but you can't see what it is. It's quite a large room, which I'll fill in in a second. 2 massive square pillars, almost 10 feet by 10 feet, support the centre of the ceiling of this wide chamber. Beautiful silk curtains draped from the walls, and equally lavish woollen carpets, red and gold, adorn the floors. |
| 00:24:30 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Lavish carpets. |
| 00:24:31 | GM - Dave | Throughout the chamber, old but serviceable wooden furniture can be found. There's a divan here, a bureau there, wardrobe. |
| 00:24:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Some of the first furniture we've seen. |
| 00:24:42 | GM - Dave | Yeah, a massive sumptuous bed, a marble bathtub, |
| 00:24:46 | Mistress Fria - Howard | My sort of place. |
| 00:24:47 | GM - Dave | silver-plated rack for hanging towels. The place is spick and span clean, and it doesn't feel like anyone lives here. |
| 00:24:55 | Mistress Fria - Howard | An unseen servant. Sounds almost like an illusion to me. |
| 00:24:58 | Jestix - Tim | Well, you're the expert on said things. |
| 00:25:00 | Vulf - Pete B | Peer around for these movement, this movement, see if I can see what made me suspicious about movement. |
| 00:25:07 | GM - Dave | Coming around the pillar, about when you were saying, what's that movement? You see a dumpy kind of Potato thing on wheels, holding a feather duster. |
| 00:25:16 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And not unseen servant. |
| 00:25:18 | Ahumstut - James | It's a seen servant. |
| 00:25:20 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Relax, Hello. |
| 00:25:21 | GM - Dave | It doesn't say anything. |
| 00:25:22 | Vulf - Pete B | Walk towards it. |
| 00:25:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That could be what's keeping a former wizard's lair Spick and span, but watch it carefully. |
| 00:25:28 | Vulf - Pete B | Yep, wander in. I'm trying to ascertain what it is a bit more. Is it some sort of summoned demon-y thing? |
| 00:25:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | A spell of some sort. |
| 00:25:35 | GM - Dave | Well, it's a kind of floating thing with wings, so it could be demon-y, yes. |
| 00:25:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Potato thing. |
| 00:25:39 | GM - Dave | Yes, it's a kind of clumpy kind of thing with wings. Now you look a little bit closer, it has tiny little horns. |
| 00:25:47 | Jestix - Tim | It's an imp. |
| 00:25:48 | Vulf - Pete B | Imp's, you usually think of it being dumpy. |
| 00:25:50 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Knowledge arcana? |
| 00:25:52 | GM - Dave | Yes |
| 00:25:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Can you know what it is? Or spellcraft? Too see if I can see what sort of spell it is. |
| 00:25:57 | GM - Dave | Someone could make a roll yes. |
| 00:25:59 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Is it knowledge arcana or something? |
| 00:26:01 | GM - Dave | Yes. |
| 00:26:01 | Vulf - Pete B | Larval stage of the Sontarans, perhaps. |
| 00:26:03 | Ahumstut - James | What? |
| 00:26:04 | GM - Dave | Sontarans. It's a |
| 00:26:05 | Jestix - Tim | Doctor Who reference. |
| 00:26:06 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Only an 11 on my spellcast. |
| 00:26:09 | GM - Dave | No, you don't recognise all this. |
| 00:26:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I've not seen one of those. |
| 00:26:12 | GM - Dave | Knowledge dungeoneering, if anyone's got that can have a roll. |
| 00:26:16 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Knowledge engineering? |
| 00:26:17 | GM - Dave | Dungeoneering. |
| 00:26:18 | Vulf - Pete B | Such a creature, my bardic knowledge. |
| 00:26:20 | GM - Dave | Yes, you could try Bardic Knowledge. |
| 00:26:21 | Vulf - Pete B | 13, I think. |
| 00:26:22 | GM - Dave | Nah, that's not quite enough. |
| 00:26:24 | Vulf - Pete B | New to me. |
| 00:26:24 | GM - Dave | It doesn't pay any attention to you. It just kind of potters around the room. |
| 00:26:29 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Well, in which case, let's go and have a look around. |
| 00:26:31 | Lómeril - Pete | very ungraciously charge into the room and leap full spread onto the bed. |
| 00:26:38 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 00:26:39 | Lómeril - Pete | Do a big flop, then realise it's a mimic and scream. |
| 00:26:42 | Jestix - Tim | Or an illusion, and go crashing to the floor. |
| 00:26:44 | Vulf - Pete B | Dave looks up bed of devouring. |
| 00:26:46 | GM - Dave | There is lots of furniture in here, basically. It's a room is full of stuff. |
| 00:26:50 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I think we get everyone in, close the door, and we search the place. |
| 00:26:52 | Vulf - Pete B | Yep. |
| 00:26:53 | GM - Dave | The creature just potters around the room, dusting, doesn't seem to take an awful lot of notice of you lot. |
| 00:26:59 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That's why it's Pristine in here. He left an unseen servant on tickover. Love the flames on the roof, like it being in a barbecue. |
| 00:27:06 | Ahumstut - James | Unseen servants only last an hour a level. |
| 00:27:08 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I suggest we carefully search the place. |
| 00:27:10 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, see who might have lived here. |
| 00:27:12 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Close the door, save on oil. This is going to be a good base for operations. Beds and baths, places to sit. |
| 00:27:18 | Vulf - Pete B | And cleaning thing. |
| 00:27:19 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I've still got this hobbit's ring to examine. |
| 00:27:22 | Lómeril - Pete | Venturing party honey trap. |
| 00:27:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It is. |
| 00:27:25 | GM - Dave | Cleans up poo, the mule's just done. Okay, search the room, mate. |
| 00:27:29 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yes, quite frankly, if we feel safe, I'm even tempted to break out with a bit of rations and rest, because we still don't quite know what the ring the hobbit did. We've got some magic items that haven't yet been determined. |
| 00:27:42 | Jestix - Tim | But haven't you already had a go at the ring? |
| 00:27:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm trying to remember if I have and failed or whatever. |
| 00:27:47 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you come in here, close the doors, potter around, search the place. What's the level of searching you've been doing? |
| 00:27:52 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Detailed. Take 20. |
| 00:27:54 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you're going to take 20, and it's going to take quite a long time, |
| 00:27:58 | Ahumstut - James | An hour. |
| 00:27:59 | Jestix - Tim | I'm just going to wander around aimlessly and poke at things. Doing a normal, just a roll. |
| 00:28:04 | GM - Dave | Yeah, so we'll have three or four search rolls from Jestix, and if you get a high number, you might see something. We'll have a search roll from Lómeril, just because, and Vulf. |
| 00:28:15 | Vulf - Pete B | Wolf is also researching, but same as Jestix. You know, just poking around. |
| 00:28:19 | GM - Dave | So maybe 4 search rolls, and if you get anything reasonable, tell me. |
| 00:28:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Can I take 20? |
| 00:28:24 | GM - Dave | Yes, but it basically is going to be a few hours searching at that rate. |
| 00:28:28 | Jestix - Tim | I got an 18 and a 17. |
| 00:28:30 | Vulf - Pete B | 18 was my highest. |
| 00:28:31 | Lómeril - Pete | 18 for me. |
| 00:28:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I think the silver ring we found was magical. |
| 00:28:35 | Jestix - Tim | No, it wasn't. |
| 00:28:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | With a small sapphire, approximately 50 gold. |
| 00:28:39 | Jestix - Tim | We didn't think it was, because it was tarnished. |
| 00:28:41 | GM - Dave | Okay, Jestix. |
| 00:28:42 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yes. |
| 00:28:42 | Jestix - Tim | Yes. |
| 00:28:43 | GM - Dave | Lying on a tabletop is a flat wooden box inlaid with mother-of-pearl inscribed with a floral design. It's a writing box. Lifting the lid, you see a sheet of very fine vellum. |
| 00:28:54 | Jestix - Tim | Take it out. |
| 00:28:55 | GM - Dave | Three small bottles of ink, blue, black and red, and six very usable quill pens. |
| 00:29:00 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Wow, That's better than mine. |
| 00:29:02 | Jestix - Tim | Is there anything written on the vellum? |
| 00:29:04 | GM - Dave | No. |
| 00:29:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That almost makes it more valuable in my book. |
| 00:29:07 | GM - Dave | Okay, Vulf, underneath the bed, you find a blue velvet bag about the size of a man's head, a large roll of very fine silken thread. It's light beige colour and pleasant to the touch. |
| 00:29:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Not really my colour. Added to the mule of carrying. |
| 00:29:24 | GM - Dave | Looks like you could knit or spin it into something. |
| 00:29:27 | Vulf - Pete B | Well, someone could. |
| 00:29:28 | GM - Dave | Somebody could. |
| 00:29:29 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It might be ideal for a magic spell of some sort, so |
| 00:29:32 | GM - Dave | It's quite fine quality, but it's not anything. |
| 00:29:36 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, so you can make a fancy dress or something out of it. |
| 00:29:39 | GM - Dave | Yep. |
| 00:29:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Probably quite a large… To actually weave with it would be But yeah, that's good for… I'll detect magic. |
| 00:29:45 | GM - Dave | Yep, we'll deal with that in a moment. Lómeril, you find a hollow plaster statue of a fat merchant laughing. You rattle it a bit and there's some coins in it and you find that the bottom can just plug and comes out and there's 12 gold coins in it. |
| 00:30:01 | Ahumstut - James | It's a piggy bank. |
| 00:30:02 | GM - Dave | And it's got three pea-sized green stones. |
| 00:30:05 | Lómeril - Pete | Add it to the party |
| 00:30:06 | GM - Dave | I hope somebody's documented that, Howard. |
| 00:30:08 | Mistress Fria - Howard | What was that last treasure? |
| 00:30:10 | GM - Dave | It's a hollow plaster statue piggy bank of a fat merchant with big ears. |
| 00:30:16 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Has it got anything in it? |
| 00:30:17 | GM - Dave | Yes, it's got 12 gold coins and three pea-sized green gemstones. It's about six inches or so high. |
| 00:30:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I suggest that we all just take 4 gold just to have in our pockets, just case. It's not enough so that we have to hoard it. So there's 12 here, 4 of us. Let's just split it up. |
| 00:30:34 | Vulf - Pete B | Alright? |
| 00:30:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I won't put that in party treasure. That's for individuals who are |
| 00:30:38 | GM - Dave | Okay, so yes, the room is sumptuous. There are pots and pans for cooking, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious place to cook. Although there's a nice bath, there doesn't seem to be any obvious place to water to come out. |
| 00:30:50 | Mistress Fria - Howard | expected magically to be able to create a |
| 00:30:52 | GM - Dave | Yep. |
| 00:30:52 | Mistress Fria - Howard | wizard of some sort. |
| 00:30:54 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you're doing a detect magic. Is that before or after? |
| 00:30:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | After I've done my search, I've finished my search. |
| 00:31:01 | GM - Dave | What is your search, plus 20, Howard? |
| 00:31:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I think it was a 26. Double check. No 25. It's going to take a while to search this thing. To do a fingertip search of this place is going to take a while. |
| 00:31:15 | Jestix - Tim | I hope that bed is very big. |
| 00:31:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We've got continual lighting. Just around the corner there was some edible meat. You've got chaise longues and divans to lounge upon. Quite frankly, I'm feeling well and truly beaten up. So an hour or so of quiet would be quite useful. |
| 00:31:33 | GM - Dave | Right, you search the room starting around the outside, as you probably would. |
| 00:31:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Mythologically. |
| 00:31:39 | GM - Dave | And eventually you get to the pillars and you discover that this pillar has a secret slider panel. |
| 00:31:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Check it quickly for traps so I open it. |
| 00:31:50 | GM - Dave | Okay, a trap roll. |
| 00:31:52 | Mistress Fria - Howard | God, my rolls are crap tonight. Oh no, it's not. That's 20. |
| 00:31:55 | GM - Dave | Okay, you don't think it's trapped, |
| 00:31:57 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I open it. I examine it carefully and think, wow. It's a lovely piece of hiding. |
| 00:32:03 | GM - Dave | it seems that there's a round secret door on it and you twist it round a bit and then it opens. There is a key. |
| 00:32:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Is it a big ornate key? |
| 00:32:13 | GM - Dave | No, but it is distinctively different other ones you could have got. |
| 00:32:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay. I assume everyone's just lounging around bored by now. I'll show them what I've found and I look to see if there's anything else in it. |
| 00:32:24 | GM - Dave | It is ornate. It looks the similar sort to the big door here, but it's not that one. |
| 00:32:31 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Cool. Ok, well I pocket it. |
| 00:32:33 | GM - Dave | A piece of paper written in common with some words on it. if you want to pay attention to yet. |
| 00:32:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I will definitely read that. |
| 00:32:41 | GM - Dave | Okay, it's describing a blue steel door between a room you've not been into and the moon pool room. Okay, and it says the password is Desitan. |
| 00:32:54 | Ahumstut - James | That's Desitan. |
| 00:32:55 | GM - Dave | Desitan, thank you. |
| 00:32:56 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'll note that one down. |
| 00:32:58 | Vulf - Pete B | Which is the moon pool room, Dave? |
| 00:33:00 | Mistress Fria - Howard | When we first came in, isn't it? |
| 00:33:02 | GM - Dave | I don't think you were here for that, bit. |
| 00:33:04 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay. |
| 00:33:05 | GM - Dave | You remember the stairs coming down? |
| 00:33:07 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah. |
| 00:33:08 | GM - Dave | If you go east, there was a room there with it in. |
| 00:33:10 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay. |
| 00:33:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Do we find any other treasures.. There's a lot of loot-able stuff in here if we were to really loot. |
| 00:33:18 | GM - Dave | Another piece of paper written in another language. Anyone want to tell me any languages they read? |
| 00:33:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Dwarfish |
| 00:33:25 | GM - Dave | Nope, it's not dwarfish. Anyone could speak any other languages? Sorry, read and write? |
| 00:33:29 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Common, dwarvish, elvish, gnome, goblin. |
| 00:33:32 | GM - Dave | No. |
| 00:33:33 | Jestix - Tim | Common Druid. |
| 00:33:34 | GM - Dave | No. |
| 00:33:34 | Vulf - Pete B | Can't find the languages. |
| 00:33:35 | Ahumstut - James | Barbarians aren't supposed to know languages. |
| 00:33:38 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, I can speak common. |
| 00:33:39 | Lómeril - Pete | Draconic. |
| 00:33:40 | Vulf - Pete B | Barbarian bard, sorry, I'm not a bit of it. |
| 00:33:42 | GM - Dave | So Pete was Lómeril? |
| 00:33:44 | Lómeril - Pete | Common, draconic, elven and goblin. |
| 00:33:46 | GM - Dave | It's Draconic. |
| 00:33:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Excellent. |
| 00:33:48 | Lómeril - Pete | Wow. Yeah, interesting. Go back to sleep. |
| 00:33:51 | Jestix - Tim | I thought you'd be reading the cleric book. |
| 00:33:53 | Lómeril - Pete | I'm enjoying having a bed. I'll go back to reading the book when I wake up. |
| 00:33:56 | GM - Dave | You know it's Draconic, but you can't bother to look it up. No problem. There's also another kind of crudely staked together pieces of paper, you know, like when people stick a hole and they put string through. |
| 00:34:05 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Notes, yeah. |
| 00:34:06 | GM - Dave | Yeah, there's a whole raft of odds and sods of random pieces of sized paper all written in either common or Draconic, and it contains things like, remember to get bat's wings, milk and eggs. |
| 00:34:18 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I will look through them just in case there's any further clues. |
| 00:34:21 | GM - Dave | 16 round to-its, and basically it's just a long list of various things. Remember to, all sorts of rubbish like that. It's a pile, doesn't seem to have any relevance to anything. |
| 00:34:31 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And he keeps these in a secret compartment. |
| 00:34:34 | GM - Dave | Yeah. |
| 00:34:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Weird. |
| 00:34:35 | GM - Dave | A potion bottle, a scroll. |
| 00:34:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | With potions? |
| 00:34:38 | GM - Dave | There's two potion bottles in fact, and a scroll. |
| 00:34:41 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, does anybody want to have a look or shall I carry on evaluating these? |
| 00:34:45 | GM - Dave | Could you roll me a appraisal roll? |
| 00:34:48 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm not the best at appraisal but yes, that's a 9. |
| 00:34:53 | GM - Dave | Okay, you'd think some of the furniture in this room probably could be quite valuable, but you wouldn't even hesitate to say, How much? |
| 00:35:01 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It could be looted. |
| 00:35:02 | GM - Dave | Yes, the sum of the furniture in here definitely is sell-able quality. |
| 00:35:06 | Mistress Fria - Howard | If I had enough money for the water I'd buy that bath. |
| 00:35:09 | GM - Dave | Okay, so now we've got… Are you going to detect magic when you… The two potions and the scroll are magical, but nothing else in this room apart from the creature floating about. |
| 00:35:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Does that include stuff on each of us as well? |
| 00:35:23 | GM - Dave | So if your carrying is magical, then yes, I would imagine it pings up. |
| 00:35:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Does have the ring ping. I thought the ring pinged. |
| 00:35:28 | GM - Dave | Yes, it does. It is definitely magical. I don't think you've done a detect magic on it before. |
| 00:35:32 | Jestix - Tim | No. |
| 00:35:33 | GM - Dave | It is magical. |
| 00:35:34 | Vulf - Pete B | It is magical, do you say? |
| 00:35:35 | GM - Dave | It is magical. |
| 00:35:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It'll take a while to work out what I think these potion bubbles scrolls are but now is the safest time. We've got a bed, we've got food, we've got flames. I'm going to do it unless we are desperate to move on. And also, is anybody able to give me a cure because I'm starting to feel like shit after being shaken around like that. |
| 00:35:55 | GM - Dave | I believe you'd get to roll a spellcraft roll on the magical things you spotted to see what sort of schools they are. |
| 00:36:01 | Mistress Fria - Howard | You can't take 20 on a spellcraft. You just have to roll them. |
| 00:36:04 | GM - Dave | You've got the ring, you've got two potions, and you've got a scroll. |
| 00:36:08 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So let's do the ring first. It says spellcraft and is it something I take 20 or do I have to roll? |
| 00:36:14 | GM - Dave | You have to roll for it. |
| 00:36:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That's a 10 plus 5 on my spellcraft 15. |
| 00:36:19 | GM - Dave | 15's not enough. |
| 00:36:21 | Vulf - Pete B | 15 plus spell level. |
| 00:36:22 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It is magical but we don't know what. |
| 00:36:24 | GM - Dave | Yes, it's faintly magical. |
| 00:36:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'd put it on. |
| 00:36:27 | GM - Dave | You put it on, okay. |
| 00:36:28 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Unless anyone else wants it. |
| 00:36:30 | GM - Dave | So it wasn't a ring, was it? It was a bracelet. |
| 00:36:32 | Jestix - Tim | Yes, the ring was tarnished. |
| 00:36:34 | Mistress Fria - Howard | The ring was tarnished, there's a bracelet. |
| 00:36:36 | Jestix - Tim | And I've got the bracelets. |
| 00:36:38 | GM - Dave | Yeah, but you still thought that was right. You hadn't done a detect magic on it. |
| 00:36:41 | Jestix - Tim | No. I put the bracelet in my pocket, because everybody was going, oh. And we did do a detect magic on it. We'd detected magic, but we failed the spellcraft, and nobody's willing to do anything, so I just shoved it in my pocket. |
| 00:36:51 | GM - Dave | Right, okay, so that's that done. |
| 00:36:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Potions? |
| 00:36:54 | Vulf - Pete B | A 25 on the spellcraft check. So unless you've got plus 5. |
| 00:36:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I have plus 5 but I would have to take 20. |
| 00:37:01 | Jestix - Tim | But you can't. You only get one shot at it per level or something. |
| 00:37:05 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Wow, so I have very little chance on 25 to really work out what it is. |
| 00:37:10 | Jestix - Tim | You'll identify one in 20 items. |
| 00:37:12 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yep, |
| 00:37:13 | Ahumstut - James | I think you're able to take 20 on potions. |
| 00:37:18 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I should like to because that's about my only chance of success. |
| 00:37:22 | Vulf - Pete B | Try again, see about this. Okay, some of the spellcraft things, it says no retry. But for identify a potion, it requires one minute, no retry. There you go. So therefore, it'll take a minute, you get a roll, and that's it. You don't get to take 20. |
| 00:37:35 | GM - Dave | Okay, so go for it. |
| 00:37:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Potion number 1? That's crap, that's a 4 so it's a 9. Not a hope unless it's really easy and it's written on the outside. |
| 00:37:44 | GM - Dave | No. |
| 00:37:45 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And the number 2? I'm rolling so crap. That's a 1. I roll a natural 1 on potion number 2 |
| 00:37:51 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you don't recognise either of those, and then there's the scroll. |
| 00:37:54 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, is the scroll something I can take 20? |
| 00:37:57 | Ahumstut - James | Yeah, you used read magic. |
| 00:37:59 | GM - Dave | Which is a zero. |
| 00:38:00 | Vulf - Pete B | Without using read magic, and that's 20 plus spell level. |
| 00:38:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Have read magic. |
| 00:38:04 | GM - Dave | You just know, I think, innit? |
| 00:38:06 | Vulf - Pete B | I think so. |
| 00:38:07 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's a 0 level spell. I take one of my 0 level tokens and I read magic. |
| 00:38:11 | GM - Dave | I'm just double checking, but I think you can just read it. |
| 00:38:15 | Vulf - Pete B | Seems what it is suited for. |
| 00:38:16 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah, it says, read spells and spellbooks. |
| 00:38:19 | GM - Dave | Allows you to recognise glyphs of warning. Any symbols? |
| 00:38:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's a scroll that allows me to identify glyphs of warding. |
| 00:38:27 | Ahumstut - James | No, read magic does. |
| 00:38:29 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, okay. |
| 00:38:30 | GM - Dave | Being able to recognise glyphs of warning is actually something you should consider. |
| 00:38:34 | Mistress Fria - Howard | What's the spell? |
| 00:38:35 | GM - Dave | It is a scroll of blur. |
| 00:38:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Blur, Excellent. |
| 00:38:40 | Ahumstut - James | 20% mischance. |
| 00:38:41 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Can anybody use magical scrolls? Can anyone do it? It needs abilities. |
| 00:38:47 | GM - Dave | It's an arcane scroll, if I remember rightly, and so you can read it. |
| 00:38:52 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's in my ability to set it up and use it on me. Is it me or someone else? |
| 00:38:56 | Ahumstut - James | I think it's touch. |
| 00:38:57 | GM - Dave | So level 2 spell, so by default you can't actually cast it without a spellcraft roll, if I remember rightly. |
| 00:39:04 | Ahumstut - James | Caster level check. |
| 00:39:05 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm only 1. |
| 00:39:06 | GM - Dave | Yes, you can cast it, but you need to make a roll to cast it. |
| 00:39:10 | Jestix - Tim | If he fails the roll, there's a scroll fade. |
| 00:39:13 | Ahumstut - James | I think the scroll gets wasted. |
| 00:39:15 | GM - Dave | Yes, I think it does. |
| 00:39:16 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, well there you go guys, a magical treasure. You can probably sell that for a lot. |
| 00:39:21 | GM - Dave | If cast on someone, grant subject concealment, 20% mischance. |
| 00:39:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'll hang on to it just in case I need it. On people leaving concealment mode, I suspect I will but unless anyone actually wants it. |
| 00:39:35 | Vulf - Pete B | It's the sort of thing that's useful in a fight. |
| 00:39:36 | Jestix - Tim | The problem is, the rest of us probably can't cast |
| 00:39:39 | GM - Dave | It doesn't make you harder to see, Howard. It makes you harder to hit. |
| 00:39:42 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Excellent. |
| 00:39:42 | Jestix - Tim | So it's the sort of thing you would cast onto one of the fighters while standing behind them, rather than at colour screen. |
| 00:39:48 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That might work, yep. |
| 00:39:49 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, I will be able to cast it at some point. I just can't cast it yet. |
| 00:39:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, so I will hang on to that one for later use and that's about it. Considering such a rich room, it's disappointing, little money. |
| 00:40:04 | Vulf - Pete B | Useful spell those. |
| 00:40:06 | Lómeril - Pete | Right. |
| 00:40:06 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We've rested and whatever. |
| 00:40:08 | Lómeril - Pete | I'm going up to the gnome. I'll say, shut your eyes and receive a blessing. |
| 00:40:13 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay. |
| 00:40:13 | Lómeril - Pete | I'll cast Cure Light Wounds by poking my two fingers into her eyes. Jab. Heal |
| 00:40:21 | GM - Dave | Stop blinding me! |
| 00:40:23 | Lómeril - Pete | 7, No, sorry. 8. |
| 00:40:25 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Ow! Thanks. |
| 00:40:29 | Vulf - Pete B | I've heard it tell, oh mighty priest, that there are those amongst you who are able to exude an area of warmth and curative powers on a few occasions per day. Would you be one of those priests? |
| 00:40:43 | Lómeril - Pete | No. |
| 00:40:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Talking of which, there was that almost edible meat which we saw from the other room. You go and collect that and carve it and check it in the light. |
| 00:40:53 | Vulf - Pete B | Do you have turn undead? A certain number of uses per day. |
| 00:40:57 | Lómeril - Pete | Yes. |
| 00:41:00 | Vulf - Pete B | Then you might want to read up on that. |
| 00:41:01 | Lómeril - Pete | I might now want to read up on it. |
| 00:41:05 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, channel positive energy, it should be. And that means that there's usually two ways you can use it. One to blast undead, and one to cure your fellow compatriots. |
| 00:41:16 | GM - Dave | I don't think that happens in this. That's a Pathfinder special. |
| 00:41:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Is it? |
| 00:41:21 | GM - Dave | I think it is a nice Pathfinder mod, but it's not in. |
| 00:41:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Guys, we've rested, we've eaten. |
| 00:41:28 | Lómeril - Pete | You can have an extra 4 hit points. I'll use my zero levels to give you, |
| 00:41:32 | Vulf - Pete B | 4 hit points. Thank you. |
| 00:41:34 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Shall we go and explore onwards? |
| 00:41:37 | Lómeril - Pete | since you're the major meat shield on the party. |
| 00:41:39 | Vulf - Pete B | Certainly the one who flings himself into the most danger. |
| 00:41:41 | Lómeril - Pete | Yes. |
| 00:41:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | What stands in front of the gnome? It's the most dangerous part of the party as far as I can see. |
| 00:41:48 | Jestix - Tim | As far as I can tell, it doesn't matter where you stand around the gnome. It's dangerous. |
| 00:41:51 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Seems fair. So, shall we crack on? |
| 00:41:55 | Jestix - Tim | Well, there's this door here we haven't been through yet. |
| 00:41:57 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I was thinking exactly the same thing. Shall we go and investigate those Jestix? |
| 00:42:02 | Jestix - Tim | Yep. |
| 00:42:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I might have to call you Madge. |
| 00:42:05 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you open the door, yeah? |
| 00:42:06 | Jestix - Tim | I don't care what you call me, so long as you don't colour screen. |
| 00:42:10 | GM - Dave | Okay, right guys, I would suggest a listen check might be useful at this moment. |
| 00:42:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | As I said, we're expecting a few more scorpions. |
| 00:42:18 | GM - Dave | If you've got a listen skill, roll a d20, now. |
| 00:42:21 | Vulf - Pete B | We all have listen skills. |
| 00:42:22 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh God, that's my third 1of the evening. |
| 00:42:26 | Vulf - Pete B | 7. |
| 00:42:27 | Jestix - Tim | 8. |
| 00:42:27 | GM - Dave | No. |
| 00:42:28 | Lómeril - Pete | Er, wait, wait, wait. Oh, yeah, I screwed that one up. |
| 00:42:32 | GM - Dave | Okay, so all of you fail. |
| 00:42:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We just stumble out |
| 00:42:36 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 00:42:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | ignoring the fact that there's probably hundreds of things out there. |
| 00:42:39 | GM - Dave | Unbeknownst to you, a whole pack of rats have been munching away at this scorpion. They hear you lot come round the corner and are swarming towards you at this moment in time. |
| 00:42:50 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Big rats, small rats. |
| 00:42:51 | GM - Dave | Tiny little rats gets a big swarm. |
| 00:42:54 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I suggest we get back behind the door. |
| 00:42:57 | GM - Dave | So we'll have some initiative first, shall we? |
| 00:42:59 | Mistress Fria - Howard | They do have a long way to run. |
| 00:43:01 | GM - Dave | Oh yeah, you might be able to escape. |
| 00:43:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And they're only little. |
| 00:43:04 | Jestix - Tim | But there's lots of them. |
| 00:43:05 | Vulf - Pete B | And they're all in full scurry mode. |
| 00:43:07 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Actually, that doesn't mean they can run fast. They're just more dangerous. |
| 00:43:12 | Jestix - Tim | 5. |
| 00:43:12 | Lómeril - Pete | 14. |
| 00:43:13 | Mistress Fria - Howard | 19. |
| 00:43:14 | GM - Dave | Vulf. |
| 00:43:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | No, sorry, 18. |
| 00:43:16 | Vulf - Pete B | I got 8. |
| 00:43:17 | GM - Dave | Lómeril. |
| 00:43:18 | Lómeril - Pete | 14. |
| 00:43:18 | GM - Dave | Basically, they will get to go first. I'm going to use this creature for it. |
| 00:43:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Even with me on an 18. |
| 00:43:24 | GM - Dave | You didn't notice them Howard. So they basically rush towards you lot. They're going to go three squares. So actually, they get to there. You notice them, then they continue down the corridor another three squares. Why are you all in the corridor? You're all in the corridor, so yeah. |
| 00:43:40 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We were. The idea is that we |
| 00:43:42 | GM - Dave | Yeah, but you've got a leg back. Now it's back round to ordinary rounds. Fria goes first on 18. |
| 00:43:48 | Mistress Fria - Howard | isn't a way I can do the rats with a colour tree without getting somebody else's there, from where I'm standing. |
| 00:43:56 | GM - Dave | Yes, you can. You can move forward and do it. |
| 00:43:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | If I move right next to Vulf. and spray them, I'm not going to get Vulf and the guys. |
| 00:44:05 | GM - Dave | No. |
| 00:44:05 | Mistress Fria - Howard | This is an ideal use for it. I shall blast them. |
| 00:44:09 | Ahumstut - James | Yes, you appear to be a bit too trigger happy. |
| 00:44:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I am definitely This is one of the reasons I left my gnomish village. |
| 00:44:17 | Ahumstut - James | They were too scared of you. |
| 00:44:18 | Jestix - Tim | He kept blinding everybody. |
| 00:44:21 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I wanted to blow this stuff up and have as much fun. I'm not just sitting there making stuff with my hammer. Bugger that. |
| 00:44:28 | GM - Dave | Freya goes to here. |
| 00:44:30 | Mistress Fria - Howard | yep, there's my first level spell token Dave sitting out in the middle. |
| 00:44:34 | GM - Dave | Cool. What's the range of said |
| 00:44:36 | Ahumstut - James | 15 foot. |
| 00:44:37 | GM - Dave | 15 foot? So yes, they will be within the range. It's a saving throw, isn't it? |
| 00:44:42 | Ahumstut - James | Will save. |
| 00:44:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | DC 15. |
| 00:44:44 | GM - Dave | DC 15 will save. And then it will be how many hit dice. Yes. |
| 00:44:49 | Mistress Fria - Howard | 4 hit dice. Surely everything in there is an individual rather than a swarm. |
| 00:44:55 | GM - Dave | It doesn't work like that Howard, But you do succeed. So they fail their will saving throw. They have 4 hit dice creatures. They're still blind. They're still stunned, are they? |
| 00:45:03 | Ahumstut - James | Stunned and blinded for d4, then stun for d4. No, just stun for one after that. |
| 00:45:08 | GM - Dave | They're not unconscious, but they are stunned. They're stunned for two rounds. And are they currently blinded as well? |
| 00:45:14 | Vulf - Pete B | Probably. |
| 00:45:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | How many of them? |
| 00:45:16 | GM - Dave | The whole swarm at the moment? And stunned is what? |
| 00:45:19 | Ahumstut - James | Can't do anything. |
| 00:45:20 | GM - Dave | Okay, they can still move. |
| 00:45:21 | Ahumstut - James | I think it can't take any actions. Yeah, drops everything held. Can't take actions. Minus 2 to AC. Loses DEX. |
| 00:45:28 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you've basically stunned them for 2 rounds, guys. |
| 00:45:32 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Roughly how many of them are there? |
| 00:45:33 | GM - Dave | There's hundreds of them held. |
| 00:45:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm going to grab the mule and escape up towards room 13, gentlemen. |
| 00:45:39 | GM - Dave | Next to go is Lómeril. |
| 00:45:41 | Lómeril - Pete | Crap, going back into the room would be better. But never mind, you'll have to follow the boss. |
| 00:45:46 | Jestix - Tim | The boss hasn't moved yet. |
| 00:45:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Get trapped in there. The rats might go away. |
| 00:45:52 | Lómeril - Pete | I follow the gnome. |
| 00:45:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Grab the mule and let's run. |
| 00:45:55 | GM - Dave | Are you legging it up the corridor? |
| 00:45:57 | Lómeril - Pete | Yes. |
| 00:45:58 | GM - Dave | Right, you could easily get into the room there. |
| 00:46:02 | Lómeril - Pete | Okay. |
| 00:46:02 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Take the mule. |
| 00:46:04 | GM - Dave | Rats, they can't act. It's Vulf next. |
| 00:46:07 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll look at the stunned rats. Okay, I think moving away from them, I shall take out my musical instrument. |
| 00:46:14 | GM - Dave | So where are you going to? |
| 00:46:16 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll move up the corridor with the others as well. |
| 00:46:18 | GM - Dave | Okay, well, move yourself then. |
| 00:46:19 | Vulf - Pete B | Move 40. |
| 00:46:20 | GM - Dave | One, two, three. Yeah, it'll be about there. |
| 00:46:24 | Vulf - Pete B | That's 40, is it? Okay. |
| 00:46:25 | GM - Dave | Oh, sorry, eight squares. Okay. |
| 00:46:27 | Jestix - Tim | You said half move. |
| 00:46:28 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, 40 is a half-move, rather than 80. |
| 00:46:30 | GM - Dave | Jestix. |
| 00:46:31 | Jestix - Tim | Follow the crowd. |
| 00:46:32 | GM - Dave | And who's got the mule? |
| 00:46:34 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Looks like I have. |
| 00:46:36 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 00:46:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It could be me dragging a mule up with it, but let's go. |
| 00:46:40 | GM - Dave | All right, okay. So Jestix, where are you going? |
| 00:46:42 | Jestix - Tim | I'm following the crowd down into the room down here with the dog. |
| 00:46:45 | GM - Dave | Okay, so what's your move? |
| 00:46:47 | Jestix - Tim | My move is 30. |
| 00:46:48 | GM - Dave | So you could double move into the room. Assuming you do that. |
| 00:46:51 | Jestix - Tim | Yep. |
| 00:46:51 | GM - Dave | Leaving Fria behind. All right, so beginning of the next round. Fria, what are you doing? |
| 00:46:55 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Grab the mule and drag it at full double move as fast as I can go up to where the boys are. |
| 00:47:01 | GM - Dave | So what's your move? |
| 00:47:02 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's only 20. |
| 00:47:03 | GM - Dave | So that's 4 squares. |
| 00:47:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm running as fast as I can. |
| 00:47:06 | GM - Dave | So you can get to the mule, and you can drag it up into the corridor. |
| 00:47:10 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yes, I'm running like hell. |
| 00:47:13 | GM - Dave | Okay, and then it will be Lómeril. What are you lot going to do in this room? |
| 00:47:17 | Jestix - Tim | Watch the impending rat fest go |
| 00:47:19 | Lómeril - Pete | Is there a door that can shut behind us. |
| 00:47:21 | GM - Dave | There's a door into the main area, and there's a door into the room with the lion on the ceiling. |
| 00:47:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Which we kicked in. |
| 00:47:27 | GM - Dave | That's right, actually. The door into the room with the lion has been kicked in. |
| 00:47:31 | Lómeril - Pete | No. |
| 00:47:31 | GM - Dave | This is a secure door here. Or did you kick that one in too? |
| 00:47:34 | Lómeril - Pete | Okay, I run to that door, step through, and then prepare to shut it. |
| 00:47:39 | GM - Dave | Okay, so the rats are now on their second round. Of being inactive. Vulf? |
| 00:47:44 | Vulf - Pete B | I delay, basically, because I know that the gnome's behind, so I will start strumming. |
| 00:47:52 | GM - Dave | Okay, Jestix. |
| 00:47:53 | Jestix - Tim | Go through the door. |
| 00:47:55 | GM - Dave | That'll be your full action.of And then it's background to the beginning of the round, and I'm assuming you're going to continue. |
| 00:48:00 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Running is definitely my best option. I'm going to continue to run towards the only secure door which doesn't trap me in here. |
| 00:48:09 | GM - Dave | The measurements are right. You get halfway into the room. You're about there-ish. Then the rats have their action. |
| 00:48:17 | Ahumstut - James | They also get stunned for one more time. Blinded and stunned for d4, then an extra 1. |
| 00:48:22 | GM - Dave | Blinded doesn't mean you can't actually see, but it does mean that |
| 00:48:26 | Ahumstut - James | Still stunned. |
| 00:48:26 | GM - Dave | they're still stunned. They stay there. Okay, so Vulf. The rats have not so far come round the corner. |
| 00:48:33 | Vulf - Pete B | I am waiting for Fria to escape. |
| 00:48:36 | GM - Dave | Jestix is there, so background to the beginning of the round. Fria, you can easily get through there in that next time period. |
| 00:48:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yep. |
| 00:48:44 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 00:48:45 | Mistress Fria - Howard | What are we going to do about these things? Can we fight them? |
| 00:48:49 | Vulf - Pete B | I have a plan. |
| 00:48:50 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Excellent! We'll join in. |
| 00:48:52 | GM - Dave | The rats are no longer stunned. I suppose they can move half, can't they? Get to there. Vulf. |
| 00:48:58 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll keep a beady eye on the rats. If they start to head down the corridor, then I will start to play to try to fascinate them. |
| 00:49:05 | GM - Dave | Ooh, good idea. If you wait, basically, they will eventually start coming up this way. They're currently blinded. |
| 00:49:12 | Mistress Fria - Howard | fascinate them while they're blinded. |
| 00:49:14 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, all right, try to fascinate them. The idea is the Pied Piper effort, and yeah, they're To try and basically fascinate them so that they follow me, and then I will lead them off somewhere well away from us lot. Outside, perhaps, because I believe that there's some stairs that lead pretty close to the entranceway, like these ones. |
| 00:49:33 | Jestix - Tim | Or you can lead them into one of the other rooms and shut the door on them. |
| 00:49:36 | Vulf - Pete B | There is that. Yeah, they may go down to the trash pit and have some fun there. That was option two. |
| 00:49:40 | GM - Dave | Okay, so roll your Fascinate. What's it against? |
| 00:49:43 | Vulf - Pete B | So, fascinate. Is |
| 00:49:45 | GM - Dave | A Will save. |
| 00:49:46 | Vulf - Pete B | DC for affected creatures. Will save against the effect. If the creature succeeds, can't attempt it again. Fails if it isn't quite a song, taking no other actions. But you could, I suppose, if you wanted to, so that they follow me because that is precedent has been set for that sort of thing. But I'll make a perform roll with my loot, which is not as good as the other ones. So 13 is the DC, not the save. |
| 00:50:08 | GM - Dave | And they fail. Assuming it was a Will. |
| 00:50:11 | Vulf - Pete B | It is. |
| 00:50:12 | GM - Dave | Yep, they fail. |
| 00:50:13 | Vulf - Pete B | OK. Well, the general idea, then, is to… I can't see easily on this map the stairs that lead out to the outside. |
| 00:50:20 | GM - Dave | Now it's up this passageway here, down that way, and across. |
| 00:50:24 | Vulf - Pete B | So it's miles back sort of thing. |
| 00:50:25 | GM - Dave | How long does Fascinate last for? |
| 00:50:27 | Vulf - Pete B | As long as I keep playing, I think. Within 90 feet, see and hear the bard, pay attention to me. |
| 00:50:33 | GM - Dave | So there's no hit dice level on that. |
| 00:50:36 | Vulf - Pete B | No, I only affect one target though. |
| 00:50:39 | GM - Dave | Okay. Well, you smash the door in there, and there's a pit. |
| 00:50:43 | Vulf - Pete B | Do we smash it or do we open it? |
| 00:50:45 | GM - Dave | You smash this door. |
| 00:50:46 | Vulf - Pete B | OK. |
| 00:50:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So we'll all get out the way and you can pied piper them |
| 00:50:50 | Vulf - Pete B | What about this door here, where my white |
| 00:50:51 | GM - Dave | Which door? |
| 00:50:51 | Vulf - Pete B | Where my white hand is? |
| 00:50:53 | GM - Dave | This door wasn't locked. You just opened it. |
| 00:50:55 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So we can just do that, won't we? |
| 00:50:57 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah. |
| 00:50:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay, well if you carry on playing, we'll open the door and you can lead them in there. How are we going to get out, I don't know. |
| 00:51:05 | Vulf - Pete B | Leave them in here, and then when they're all sort of in there, back out the door and shut the door is kind of the plan. |
| 00:51:11 | GM - Dave | You've got Animal Handling? |
| 00:51:12 | Vulf - Pete B | I do have an animal handling, yeah. Do you want me to roll that? |
| 00:51:14 | GM - Dave | Yeah, I think that's an appropriate… If you succeed, then you succeed in what you're trying to do. |
| 00:51:20 | Vulf - Pete B | OK. He rolls poorly. 5. |
| 00:51:23 | GM - Dave | Ok, You find it difficult… You in this room, and the rats are kind of, like, hovering here. You can't seem to encourage them to actually come into the room. |
| 00:51:32 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay. |
| 00:51:33 | GM - Dave | They're not endangering you or endangering the rest of the party, but they just don't seem to… |
| 00:51:38 | Vulf - Pete B | Perhaps if I went further into the room and tried to climb round the side here, would that be sort of my only other option? |
| 00:51:44 | GM - Dave | Yeah, but you probably can't play your lute while you're doing the Clamber round, but certainly you could… |
| 00:51:49 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Climbing with the loot. |
| 00:51:50 | Vulf - Pete B | No, I mean, I'd obviously stop looting at that point. |
| 00:51:53 | GM - Dave | Okay, yeah, so you go there. |
| 00:51:55 | Vulf - Pete B | So, OK, I stand all the way back here. Hopefully one of the others will have the presence of mind to shut the door. |
| 00:51:59 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, if we know what you're doing. I can't guess and will close the doors. |
| 00:52:04 | GM - Dave | Make another Animal Handling roll. |
| 00:52:06 | Mistress Fria - Howard | 15. |
| 00:52:07 | GM - Dave | Yes, they're now all in the room. With you? |
| 00:52:09 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Any stragglers as we close the door are Henry's |
| 00:52:12 | Vulf - Pete B | Look down at the vast, yawning pit below me, |
| 00:52:14 | GM - Dave | Yep. |
| 00:52:14 | Vulf - Pete B | swallow, and then try to climb round here. |
| 00:52:18 | Mistress Fria - Howard | we're guessing what he's trying to do, I will run to there to try and catch him or offer assistance as he swims around. |
| 00:52:27 | Vulf - Pete B | No offence, but I might need somebody with a bit more weight behind them than you, because I'm just pull you into the hole. |
| 00:52:31 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Guys, he's trying to climb around the edge of the pit. Let's go and see if we can help. |
| 00:52:35 | Lómeril - Pete | Why is he doing that? |
| 00:52:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's the only way you can get them all in the room. It's a good place to trap loads of rats. |
| 00:52:42 | GM - Dave | You can do a Climb or a Tumble check. |
| 00:52:44 | Jestix - Tim | Tumble strikes me as insane. I don't know what your skill is, but |
| 00:52:48 | Vulf - Pete B | I've got a fairly high tumble. |
| 00:52:50 | GM - Dave | I'm assuming they don't have Agility now, So it's a Climb. |
| 00:52:53 | Vulf - Pete B | I need to make a climb roll. |
| 00:52:55 | GM - Dave | Yeah. |
| 00:52:55 | Vulf - Pete B | Is it relatively easy? |
| 00:52:56 | GM - Dave | Yes. |
| 00:52:57 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I have some silk rope. |
| 00:52:58 | Vulf - Pete B | If I should fail, then I'll try to grasp hold of anybody's outstretched hands. |
| 00:53:02 | GM - Dave | Okay, after you've stopped looting them, how long before they come round and decide? Is it straight away, or is there a delay? |
| 00:53:10 | Vulf - Pete B | I would imagine, it just doesn't say it carries on for any time, but when I stop playing, it probably stops. But I wouldn't have thought it's an on-off switch. It's just sort of, oh, it's ended. What were we doing? |
| 00:53:20 | GM - Dave | Yes. Time to eat Pete! |
| 00:53:22 | Ahumstut - James | So sits quietly and listens to song, taking no actions for as long as Bard continues to play and concentrate up to a max of one round per Bard level. |
| 00:53:32 | GM - Dave | Yeah, so actually you've done it a bit longer than you should have done, but I suppose we could have made you keep rolling Fascinate. |
| 00:53:38 | Vulf - Pete B | OK, I |
| 00:53:39 | Ahumstut - James | Yeah, once per day per Bard level. |
| 00:53:41 | GM - Dave | So actually, you couldn't have done it for all this length of time, but we'll let you get away with it just because it was fun. So, yes, you'll have to make a Climb roll to get round there. |
| 00:53:48 | Vulf - Pete B | Ok, I will try to make a climb roll. That brings me up to 9. |
| 00:53:52 | GM - Dave | Okay, you figure that you can't do it. You're not quite skilled enough to quickly shuffle round. You rats go eek eek eek, and starting next round they will run towards you. So what are you going to do first? You've got another action. |
| 00:54:07 | Vulf - Pete B | Can I have another go? |
| 00:54:08 | GM - Dave | Yes, you can risk your life again. |
| 00:54:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, so I think Jestix and I are there. |
| 00:54:14 | Jestix - Tim | it doesn't matter. It's a big enough pit to kill him. |
| 00:54:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to think. |
| 00:54:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, I can try to grab hold of somebody's hand. So I'll try it again here. |
| 00:54:24 | Lómeril - Pete | Yeah, I'll offer a hand. |
| 00:54:26 | Vulf - Pete B | It's better than being eaten alive by rats. |
| 00:54:27 | GM - Dave | Roll a Climbing skill, Pete, and if you get 13, you can give plus 2 to him. |
| 00:54:33 | Lómeril - Pete | Oh, me. |
| 00:54:34 | GM - Dave | Lómeril, you're Aiding. |
| 00:54:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Jestix helping. |
| 00:54:36 | Jestix - Tim | Jestix is the one that's there. |
| 00:54:38 | GM - Dave | Oh, sorry, Jestix. |
| 00:54:39 | Lómeril - Pete | I need to roll a climb roll. |
| 00:54:41 | Jestix - Tim | No, I'm the one with the climb skill. |
| 00:54:43 | GM - Dave | Then Jestix, you do it. |
| 00:54:44 | Jestix - Tim | 22. |
| 00:54:45 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you get plus 2, Pete, you climb. |
| 00:54:47 | Vulf - Pete B | All right. Oh, rah. 23. |
| 00:54:50 | GM - Dave | Okay, you successfully hop round, and Jestix pulls you into the room. Okay, the rat swarm. It makes a Notice roll with a 2, so they lose track of where you went. So they all pile down into the pit, because obviously that looks tasty. |
| 00:55:06 | Vulf - Pete B | It probably smells a bit. |
| 00:55:07 | Jestix - Tim | We exit stage left as quickly as possible. |
| 00:55:10 | GM - Dave | There's a lot of squeaking, and they all four-stroke clamber down into the pit and munch on anything they can find down there. |
| 00:55:17 | Jestix - Tim | Hobbit. |
| 00:55:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Jolly well done, Vault. |
| 00:55:19 | Vulf - Pete B | Hurrah! |
| 00:55:20 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I suggest we escape while we still can. |
| 00:55:22 | Vulf - Pete B | I felt as though I needed a flute, rather than a lute, for that. Remind me to get one when we next go back to town. |
| 00:55:28 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Here you go. for an excellent bit of thinking. Have my flute. |
| 00:55:32 | Vulf - Pete B | Do you have a flute? |
| 00:55:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I have a flute. |
| 00:55:35 | Vulf - Pete B | Oh, you are blessed indeed. |
| 00:55:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I can play but not very well. |
| 00:55:39 | Jestix - Tim | Just one note. It might as well be a whistle. |
| 00:55:42 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I've got perform 3 and I've |
| 00:55:43 | Vulf - Pete B | You got performed 3. Well, so do I. |
| 00:55:45 | Mistress Fria - Howard | got perform wind instruments 4. So yes, but no I haven't used it and you're a bard. There you go. Have my flute. I'll buy another one. |
| 00:55:55 | Vulf - Pete B | Oh, well, thank you. I appreciate this magnificent gift. |
| 00:56:00 | Mistress Fria - Howard | With a little more caution than perhaps before make our way to the door we were going to go before we were ambushed. Maintaining a rough party order so we don't get killed by passing scorpions or |
| 00:56:15 | Jestix - Tim | Or bugbears. |
| 00:56:16 | Mistress Fria - Howard | bugbears. I've just thrown everyone roughly into the right area. |
| 00:56:20 | Jestix - Tim | It's not even vaguely the right area. |
| 00:56:22 | Lómeril - Pete | I'll keep an eye out for scuttling scorpions or lurking bugbears. |
| 00:56:27 | GM - Dave | All seem to have gone quiet again, Pete. That could be suspicious. Okay, an old wooden door with a hole through. |
| 00:56:34 | Mistress Fria - Howard | A key. Well, we had 3 keys from one room and we found another key from… Do any of the keys I have fit? |
| 00:56:42 | GM - Dave | Okay, the small ring of keys which were found here, one of them fits. |
| 00:56:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, excellent. |
| 00:56:48 | Vulf - Pete B | Where can we find the small ring of keys. |
| 00:56:50 | GM - Dave | It was hanging behind that door which you smashed down. |
| 00:56:53 | Vulf - Pete B | Ok. |
| 00:56:54 | GM - Dave | And also, I believe you did smash this door down. |
| 00:56:57 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah. |
| 00:56:57 | GM - Dave | They also have the key for that door too. |
| 00:56:59 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We found the keys only too late. |
| 00:57:01 | Ahumstut - James | When in doubt, smash it down. |
| 00:57:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | OK, I open the door. I unlock the door. I will retire somewhere I can cover them and let them do the big grand entrance. |
| 00:57:14 | GM - Dave | So who opens the door? |
| 00:57:15 | Vulf - Pete B | Oh, well, I guess I will, after having been bolstered by the clerics and many curing spells. |
| 00:57:20 | Lómeril - Pete | I'll be standing ready with a longsword draw. |
| 00:57:23 | GM - Dave | A small 10 foot by 10 foot room. There's a number of wooden pegs along the walls which hang a few cloaks. |
| 00:57:31 | Jestix - Tim | It's the broom cupboard. |
| 00:57:32 | GM - Dave | A leather coat, a hat. |
| 00:57:34 | Lómeril - Pete | So whilst the gnome goes in to start pulling all the pegs to check the secret doors, I'll finally get round to reading the draconic piece of paper. |
| 00:57:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Seems fair, I search the place. |
| 00:57:45 | GM - Dave | The gnome's going to go in there, I assume, and search the room, yeah? |
| 00:57:48 | Jestix - Tim | Jestix will go in and just search randomly as he normally does. |
| 00:57:51 | GM - Dave | Okay, right, so, Lómeril. We're currently looking at the draconic piece or paper Right, it describes a funny triangular room with a weird glass cylinder in the middle of it. |
| 00:58:07 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, excellent. |
| 00:58:08 | GM - Dave | And it suggests the western side has a secret door. So it describes the secret door, and that you push it to the left and it clicks open. |
| 00:58:20 | Lómeril - Pete | Okay, tell everyone what's written on the paper. |
| 00:58:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We've seen that room. We'll go back there later. |
| 00:58:26 | Jestix - Tim | I get a 17 search in the room. |
| 00:58:29 | GM - Dave | Okay, so, Jestix, roll your… I am just running, looking around. |
| 00:58:32 | Jestix - Tim | Yep. I got 17. |
| 00:58:34 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Those nice leather cloaks you guys. They'll keep you warm after a cold night outside. |
| 00:58:39 | Jestix - Tim | Pity we're inside. |
| 00:58:41 | GM - Dave | Okay, the leather cloak looks quite wearable, Jestix, if it was to have a little bit of mending done to it. The others don't look very good to you. |
| 00:58:50 | Jestix - Tim | Okay, Well, I'll take the leather coat he's mending as I can give him some time, get a mending skill. |
| 00:58:56 | Mistress Fria - Howard | You've seen both Wolf and I do mending. |
| 00:58:59 | GM - Dave | I think most of the party can do mending now. I think it's a core capability of this party. Yes, Fria, you searched the room quite intently, and what you find is that one of the cloaks, which is basically moth-eaten load of rubbish falling to bits, actually has a silver clasp, which looks a bit like a flock of birds. |
| 00:59:20 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, beautiful. That was once a nice cloak but ain't any more. I will take the mask and show everyone and throw it into party treasure. |
| 00:59:30 | GM - Dave | Certainly would make a nice clasp on a cloak. And that pretty much is the only things in the room. |
| 00:59:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Jestix, do you like that leather cloak enough to actually want it? |
| 00:59:41 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. I haven't got a cloak at the moment, I don't think. |
| 00:59:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | OK, I cast a mend on it. |
| 00:59:48 | Jestix - Tim | Thank you. |
| 00:59:49 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Bing! That's looking a bit better. More like a smart adventurer I like hanging out with. |
| 00:59:56 | GM - Dave | It probably also needs a prestidigitation to clean it as well, |
| 01:00:02 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm happy to mend. Maybe later. OK, let's push on. The corridor turns east which is closest. Did I ever investigate room 13? The secret doors or other than the bugbear thing. Is it 13? The one where the scorpion and the bugbear on the mosaic. |
| 01:00:21 | GM - Dave | you've not searched that area. |
| 01:00:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | OK, guys, I'm going to have a quick look down there just because I haven't and then you're welcome to join me or we'll carry on up this other corridor. That's where I think we go next but I'm just going to have a quick romp through here just because I haven't seen this here bugbear. |
| 01:00:39 | GM - Dave | So, Freya, you spent ages wandering around down here. |
| 01:00:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm the most boring person ever to adventure with but we do find all the bloody secret doors. he guys might have already gone on ahead. |
| 01:00:52 | GM - Dave | No, because there's only one torch, unless somebody else is going to light a torch. So, what else is everybody else going to do? |
| 01:00:58 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll have studied the mosaic as well. I want to check out this bear of bugs a bit more. |
| 01:01:03 | GM - Dave | Okay, |
| 01:01:04 | Jestix - Tim | And I'm going to spend my time looking down the corridor waiting for something to come up and attack us. |
| 01:01:09 | GM - Dave | you sit there chatting to your dog, looking both ways, I assume. And Vulf is in here looking at the mosaic. What about Lómeril? |
| 01:01:17 | Lómeril - Pete | Do I have anything else to read? |
| 01:01:18 | Jestix - Tim | You've got the cleric's book. |
| 01:01:21 | Lómeril - Pete | I'll continue reading the cleric's book. All this searching bores me intensely. |
| 01:01:26 | GM - Dave | Fria takes 20. It's going to take her a good half an hour at least to search this area. Vulf, you can probably take a 20 on some kind of knowledge if you've got it. |
| 01:01:35 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay. |
| 01:01:36 | Ahumstut - James | I think you can't take 20 on knowledges. It's either you know something or you don't. And you can't do it by uming and arring for 20 times as long as you would. |
| 01:01:48 | Vulf - Pete B | Sadly, I think he's right. |
| 01:01:49 | GM - Dave | Do you have any kind of bardic knowledge stuff that might be useful? |
| 01:01:53 | Vulf - Pete B | Right, so you want me to make a roll? |
| 01:01:54 | GM - Dave | Yes. |
| 01:01:55 | Vulf - Pete B | 9. |
| 01:01:56 | GM - Dave | Some kind of weird creature, that's about as much as you know. |
| 01:01:59 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay, what I want to do is see if any of the… if I press any of the mosaics, whether or not anything interesting happens. |
| 01:02:05 | GM - Dave | I will assume you've taken 20 on a search. You don't find anything. |
| 01:02:09 | Vulf - Pete B | That concludes my interest in the mosaic. |
| 01:02:11 | GM - Dave | You're not a dwarf, are you? |
| 01:02:12 | Vulf - Pete B | No. |
| 01:02:13 | GM - Dave | Fria finds absolutely nothing. |
| 01:02:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Buffer, About 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Sorry guys. Crack on. |
| 01:02:19 | GM - Dave | Which way next? |
| 01:02:20 | Vulf - Pete B | Up the corridor, I suppose. |
| 01:02:22 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, we were exploring this way. |
| 01:02:24 | GM - Dave | Right, the corridor turns east, then continues north. |
| 01:02:29 | Jestix - Tim | I.e. to go round the room in front of it. |
| 01:02:31 | GM - Dave | Yeah, it goes this way, then goes north, and then comes out into a largest chamber. |
| 01:02:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We will progress in standard party order. |
| 01:02:39 | Jestix - Tim | A random rabble. |
| 01:02:41 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, with me and the mule in the middle I hope. |
| 01:02:44 | Jestix - Tim | At some point the fighter's going to insist you go in front because it's much safer. |
| 01:02:48 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Laughter… |
| 01:02:50 | GM - Dave | It's 20 by 50. |
| 01:02:52 | Jestix - Tim | Big room. |
| 01:02:53 | GM - Dave | It's full of old bits of rotten wood. |
| 01:02:57 | Vulf - Pete B | What, from benches, chairs, that sort of thing? |
| 01:02:59 | GM - Dave | Well, I'm assuming you've not spent a lot of time looking at it at the moment. Planks of wood. |
| 01:03:04 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm listening and looking for movement and danger. |
| 01:03:07 | Vulf - Pete B | I'll stand in the doorway, surveying it, see if anything comes at us. If nothing does, then eventually we'll go in. |
| 01:03:12 | GM - Dave | Nothing comes at you. |
| 01:03:13 | Vulf - Pete B | We'll go in. |
| 01:03:14 | GM - Dave | The room is basically full of wood that's rotting. |
| 01:03:17 | Vulf - Pete B | Is it piled, stacked neatly, or is it tumbled down from the ceiling? |
| 01:03:21 | GM - Dave | It's tumbled down. |
| 01:03:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So it once had an vaulted wooden ceiling or something. |
| 01:03:27 | GM - Dave | There is not a wall there, by the way. |
| 01:03:28 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So, quite large. |
| 01:03:30 | GM - Dave | Very quiet, dark. Your torch. This room's actually quite tall. |
| 01:03:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It once had some form of It's not a collapsed roof, is it? |
| 01:03:40 | GM - Dave | Most of the corridors around here are 15 or 20 foot tall. This room is nearly 30 foot. Okay, there's rusty nails, all sorts of stuff like that. |
| 01:03:51 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Some of which may one day be useful. |
| 01:03:53 | GM - Dave | I'm assuming you have only just standing here and looking down at the moment. |
| 01:03:57 | Vulf - Pete B | We will go in if nothing tries to eat us. |
| 01:03:59 | GM - Dave | Nothing tries to reach you. |
| 01:04:00 | Vulf - Pete B | We will go in. |
| 01:04:01 | GM - Dave | There's a bigger pile of wood here, near the very end. |
| 01:04:04 | Vulf - Pete B | Right, well, I'll start going through it and exploring. |
| 01:04:06 | GM - Dave | Anyone got any relevant crafts they would like to try on me? |
| 01:04:10 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Relevant craft. That's an interesting thought. |
| 01:04:13 | Jestix - Tim | Nope. |
| 01:04:14 | Mistress Fria - Howard | No. Trap making, metalwork, bow making, alchemy. None of which will really help. |
| 01:04:19 | GM - Dave | You could try what knowledges you might have. |
| 01:04:21 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Arcana and local. |
| 01:04:23 | GM - Dave | Nothing there. |
| 01:04:24 | Mistress Fria - Howard | OK, just have a look at the ground. |
| 01:04:26 | GM - Dave | There's a big pile of wood at the end of the room. |
| 01:04:27 | Jestix - Tim | Cautiously approach the big pile of wood at the end. Does it look vaguely like a barricade? |
| 01:04:33 | GM - Dave | No, looks nothing like a barricade. It looks like something's collapsed. |
| 01:04:36 | Vulf - Pete B | Keep an eye on the ceiling as well, see if there's anything up there that might have caused everything to fall down, like, you know, a large roosting bat or something. |
| 01:04:43 | GM - Dave | Actually, now you look more closely, the ceiling, although it's 30 foot above you, there's actually a lip about 20 foot up. |
| 01:04:54 | Jestix - Tim | Where there was a balcony. |
| 01:04:55 | GM - Dave | Yeah, it looks like all the way around the room, you can look into this room. And when you spot that, you actually spot that there's occasional holes around the balcony area. |
| 01:05:08 | Vulf - Pete B | Entrances into this room from elsewhere. |
| 01:05:10 | GM - Dave | They're about six by six inches into the wall. |
| 01:05:14 | Jestix - Tim | Murder slots. |
| 01:05:15 | GM - Dave | Could be murder holes, yes, that's one valid interpretation. |
| 01:05:19 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Or there could be where beams or supports went for an artificial roof. |
| 01:05:22 | GM - Dave | That's much more likely. Now it's been pointed out to you, that's exactly what they look like. |
| 01:05:26 | Mistress Fria - Howard | They're beam holes and the artificial roof has basically rotted and collapsed. |
| 01:05:31 | GM - Dave | Yes, and now you've worked that out, it looks remarkably like it's the remains of a staircase. |
| 01:05:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And there was a staircase going up. Staircases go to somewhere. I would try and look at where the staircase went. |
| 01:05:41 | GM - Dave | It went up to the next level. |
| 01:05:43 | Jestix - Tim | Well, yeah. Went to the balcony. |
| 01:05:45 | Mistress Fria - Howard | OK, so there's a big ornate staircase going up to a lovely balcony so that people could then look down at whatever was on this room. Unusual. |
| 01:05:53 | Jestix - Tim | Well, no. We've had a couple of rooms with balconies in already. |
| 01:05:56 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah, he loves his balconies. If there were other rooms or entrances going on, they'd be 20 feet up. |
| 01:06:02 | Jestix - Tim | Indeed. |
| 01:06:02 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Have a quick look around just to see if there's anything which might indicate that there is a secret door up there, but I realise that would be bloody hard. So I'm not going to take 20. I'm going to roll that one. Just have a good look around up there. |
| 01:06:16 | Vulf - Pete B | See if there's a way out of here, towards the far end. |
| 01:06:18 | GM - Dave | No, it's all quiet, nothing much is going on. |
| 01:06:21 | Mistress Fria - Howard | OK, there's no other way in or out. I really would love to find a way of joining the two rooms up. This room seems to be higher. It's all raised, isn't it? |
| 01:06:31 | GM - Dave | Yes, anyone got craft, stonework or any of those dungeoneering type knowledge? |
| 01:06:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | No, I'm afraid not. |
| 01:06:37 | Vulf - Pete B | No. |
| 01:06:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Only what I might naturally have with craft untrained. |
| 01:06:42 | Vulf - Pete B | That's for dwarf's, isn't it? OK, are there any other ways out of this room? |
| 01:06:45 | GM - Dave | Apart from trying to climb the wall, no. |
| 01:06:47 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Climbing is not my strong OK, |
| 01:06:49 | Vulf - Pete B | OK, well, I guess we leave. |
| 01:06:50 | Mistress Fria - Howard | in which case, I think this whole end is a dead end. The next bit to explore is where the rats came from. |
| 01:06:57 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah. |
| 01:06:57 | Jestix - Tim | Yep. |
| 01:06:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So we make our way carefully with party order and due caution out over this direction. Isn't that right? |
| 01:07:05 | Jestix - Tim | Yep. |
| 01:07:05 | GM - Dave | The passageway, turns to the south, then turns to the west, and then there's stairs going up. |
| 01:07:14 | Jestix - Tim | Ohh.. Back to the surface. |
| 01:07:16 | Vulf - Pete B | Follow the stairs. |
| 01:07:18 | GM - Dave | Right, so there's some stairs going up. |
| 01:07:20 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Progress carefully, said |
| 01:07:22 | GM - Dave | The corridor turns north, and then it opens out into a room. And there is a door just there. |
| 01:07:29 | Vulf - Pete B | Are we going to go up and investigate the room since it's opened out into it, or are we going to open the door first? |
| 01:07:34 | Jestix - Tim | Send the.. |
| 01:07:35 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Send the gnome. |
| 01:07:36 | Jestix - Tim | gnome to listen at the door. |
| 01:07:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yep. OK, listen at the door. |
| 01:07:41 | GM - Dave | OK, roll a listen roll, Hod. |
| 01:07:43 | Mistress Fria - Howard | It's a natural 9 and my listen isn't going to add a lot more to that. Plus 5 for listen, so it's a 14. |
| 01:07:51 | GM - Dave | You don't hear anything. |
| 01:07:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | All is quiet. Door locked. |
| 01:07:55 | GM - Dave | Nope, it's not locked. |
| 01:07:56 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Cool. In which case, I will stand back and cover who ever wants to open it. |
| 01:08:02 | Jestix - Tim | Well, with Lómeril on one side and Vulf on the other. |
| 01:08:06 | GM - Dave | OK, the passageway continues on. |
| 01:08:08 | Vulf - Pete B | What, through the door? |
| 01:08:10 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Useful, however, in case you're being pursued by rats. |
| 01:08:13 | GM - Dave | OK, so the corridor continues on. You see that it continues on west and opens up into a room. |
| 01:08:19 | Mistress Fria - Howard | So we have two options that open up. |
| 01:08:22 | Vulf - Pete B | Let's go down here. |
| 01:08:24 | Jestix - Tim | Well, I would go that way because we can shut the door behind us. |
| 01:08:28 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yep. |
| 01:08:29 | GM - Dave | Quite a large room. |
| 01:08:31 | Vulf - Pete B | What's in the room? |
| 01:08:32 | GM - Dave | OK, it continues a bit further than that. I'll just fill in the rest of it, but it's probably just about the length of your light in size. |
| 01:08:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Do we hear or see anything moving? Any threats? |
| 01:08:47 | GM - Dave | The room is completely quiet. I'll describe the other things in the room in a second. There are some things in the room, but nothing is currently attempting to attack you. |
| 01:08:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Good start. |
| 01:09:00 | GM - Dave | It's a funny-shaped room with some niches, and there's a corridor leading out, and there's a corridor leading that way as well. The room is dark and silent. A long, wide hall stretches ahead with small alcoves and niches along its length. Many of these hold small shelves that display various small idols or statuettes of an unknown origin. In other places, the shelves are empty. At the southern end of the room is a large stone table holding a triptych of massive size. |
| 01:09:30 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Well, this is where Lómeril would go mad for lots and lots of fake idols like an altar with a huge book on. |
| 01:09:37 | Vulf - Pete B | A triptych to whom? |
| 01:09:39 | GM - Dave | Where are you all at this moment in time? You're actually the… |
| 01:09:42 | Vulf - Pete B | Probably in the room, if we see this. |
| 01:09:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | If it looks safe, we will move in cautiously. |
| 01:09:47 | GM - Dave | You're heading into the room when things start to move on the shelves. |
| 01:09:53 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Things start to move on the shelves. All these strange idols are waking up. |
| 01:09:57 | GM - Dave | Yes, they do. |
| 01:09:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Many of them fall over or fall off their shelves. |
| 01:10:01 | GM - Dave | They jump off their shelves. |
| 01:10:03 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Did that say animated drawven armour? |
| 01:10:06 | GM - Dave | It isn't animated dwarven armour, but in the set of stuff, it doesn't seem to have anything that quite matches what I want, so it'll be these. Yeah, there's six of these that jump out, and there's two bigger ones. |
| 01:10:21 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I have two colour sprays left. |
| 01:10:23 | Vulf - Pete B | Not sure it's going to affect these things. |
| 01:10:25 | Mistress Fria - Howard | No, I think we might have to just smeg them. And when I say we, |
| 01:10:30 | Vulf - Pete B | Shoot them. That'll work. |
| 01:10:32 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'm sure it's by the place and shape. |
| 01:10:34 | GM - Dave | Okay, so we need to roll some initiative, guys. |
| 01:10:37 | Vulf - Pete B | Are they all the same size? Two big ones and five little ones. |
| 01:10:41 | GM - Dave | Oh, sorry, there should be another one. There's six little ones. Okay, they are strange-looking statuettes. They're not of humanoid form. |
| 01:10:50 | Vulf - Pete B | What form are they? Insectoid? |
| 01:10:52 | Mistress Fria - Howard | More little homunculus type things? |
| 01:10:55 | GM - Dave | That's a good word, but it's not that, |
| 01:10:57 | Vulf - Pete B | Demons? Slugs? |
| 01:10:59 | GM - Dave | No, they look like odds and sods. |
| 01:11:01 | Mistress Fria - Howard | gargoyles? |
| 01:11:02 | GM - Dave | Gargoyle-type. They don't look animalistic at all. Weird-shaped, straight edges. |
| 01:11:08 | Mistress Fria - Howard | All animated stone statues? |
| 01:11:10 | GM - Dave | Yeah, just kind of random-shaped animated statues. |
| 01:11:13 | Vulf - Pete B | Weird. |
| 01:11:13 | GM - Dave | Yeah, very weird-looking. |
| 01:11:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I suggest we smeg the big ones first. |
| 01:11:17 | GM - Dave | Okay, so their initiatives are going to be that. |
| 01:11:19 | Jestix - Tim | Jestix has 11 and Lómeril has 13. |
| 01:11:23 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I have a 5. God, last time I was wrong. Great, today I'm rolling crap, it happens. |
| 01:11:30 | Vulf - Pete B | 15 for me. |
| 01:11:31 | GM - Dave | Ooh, they go on 20. |
| 01:11:33 | Mistress Fria - Howard | They're moving first, then. |
| 01:11:34 | Jestix - Tim | Charge towards them. |
| 01:11:35 | GM - Dave | Oh, they do, yes. They won't do that, they'll do. |
| 01:11:38 | Jestix - Tim | Disintegrate as they hit the floor. |
| 01:11:40 | GM - Dave | No, what they do is all of them moved together into one spot |
| 01:11:45 | Jestix - Tim | And merge. |
| 01:11:46 | GM - Dave | and merge to produce a uber-sized one. |
| 01:11:50 | Vulf - Pete B | Can't say I approve of that. |
| 01:11:51 | GM - Dave | Okay, so there's an uber-sized one. |
| 01:11:53 | Vulf - Pete B | How big is this uber-sized one? Large? Huge? Medium? |
| 01:11:57 | Jestix - Tim | Ginormous. |
| 01:11:58 | GM - Dave | It takes up four squares, so it's 20 foot sort of size. |
| 01:12:01 | Vulf - Pete B | Four squares is large. |
| 01:12:02 | GM - Dave | Yes, it counts as a large creature. |
| 01:12:04 | Vulf - Pete B | OK. You're very big, aren't you? |
| 01:12:07 | Jestix - Tim | Bigger than its component parts. |
| 01:12:08 | GM - Dave | Well, it's made up of a lot of empty space, shall we say. But the bits seem to have slotted together to create this amorphous, death-dealing creature. And it's going to start lumbering towards you. So, Vulf, 15. |
| 01:12:21 | Vulf - Pete B | I start singing, readying my axe. |
| 01:12:23 | GM - Dave | Okay, you're singing. |
| 01:12:24 | Vulf - Pete B | Be brave, or a cry of once more under the breach to your friends, that sort of thing. |
| 01:12:28 | Mistress Fria - Howard | This doesn't count as a giant type, does it? Over these trolls and giants. I'm hard hit by those buggers. |
| 01:12:35 | GM - Dave | No, I'm afraid not. Unless it counts all large creatures, I'd assume it doesn't. |
| 01:12:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | This is against most of the giant types. No, I think it is actually the big giant humanoids. |
| 01:12:45 | GM - Dave | Okay, so Vulf is doing some kind of inspire, I assume. |
| 01:12:48 | Vulf - Pete B | Yep, so everybody gets plus one to hit and damage and on fear saves, I think. |
| 01:12:53 | GM - Dave | Okay, Lómeril go. |
| 01:12:55 | Jestix - Tim | Lómeril will probably attempt to shoot it. |
| 01:12:56 | GM - Dave | Okay, go for it. |
| 01:12:58 | Jestix - Tim | 21, which is a natural 20. |
| 01:13:00 | GM - Dave | It's threat, but I'm not sure what these are. They're constructs, so I don't think they have the… |
| 01:13:05 | Vulf - Pete B | Can't remember in 3.5. Oh. |
| 01:13:07 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Lómeril is using a masterwork longsword, a masterwork bow, as far as I'm aware. |
| 01:13:11 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah, actually 23, but it's more a question of whether it's threat-enabled. |
| 01:13:16 | GM - Dave | Oh, it's a hit. It's definitely a hit. Question is, can you crit a construct? |
| 01:13:22 | Ahumstut - James | No, you can't. |
| 01:13:23 | GM - Dave | Thank you for that, James. I thought the answer was that, too. So, no, you can't crit it, but you've definitely hit it. |
| 01:13:28 | Jestix - Tim | So that's 6 damage. |
| 01:13:30 | GM - Dave | It has taken a 6 damage. |
| 01:13:32 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Really good start. |
| 01:13:33 | GM - Dave | Jestix. |
| 01:13:34 | Jestix - Tim | I'm casting a spell. |
| 01:13:36 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Ughhhh! |
| 01:13:37 | GM - Dave | Da da da. |
| 01:13:39 | Mistress Fria - Howard | And does the bard's song yet help us shoot |
| 01:13:43 | Vulf - Pete B | Oh yes. |
| 01:13:43 | Jestix - Tim | Or at least I'm attempting to cast a spell Let's put it that way. Presumably I have to roll. |
| 01:13:47 | Vulf - Pete B | you have to roll? |
| 01:13:48 | GM - Dave | Why would he have to roll? |
| 01:13:49 | Jestix - Tim | All right. In which case I cast |
| 01:13:51 | GM - Dave | What is it? |
| 01:13:51 | Jestix - Tim | Shillelagh. |
| 01:13:52 | GM - Dave | It succeeds. |
| 01:13:53 | Vulf - Pete B | Just works? |
| 01:13:54 | GM - Dave | You only need to roll things if you're actually in combat and you don't want someone to hit you. |
| 01:13:58 | Jestix - Tim | All right. Okay. |
| 01:13:59 | GM - Dave | Okay, so, Jestix, are you moving up or are you staying where you are? |
| 01:14:02 | Jestix - Tim | I'm staying where I am at the moment with everybody else. |
| 01:14:05 | GM - Dave | Okay, so Fria. |
| 01:14:06 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Shoot it. Is about the only thing I can do? |
| 01:14:09 | GM - Dave | Ok. |
| 01:14:09 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Find myself a nice little angle and shoot. 13. |
| 01:14:13 | GM - Dave | 13, don't think it's a hit. |
| 01:14:15 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Probably this ping. |
| 01:14:16 | GM - Dave | You've just… did you take into account the plus 1 from the Bard? |
| 01:14:20 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, 1 more. didn't include the bard's bonus. |
| 01:14:23 | GM - Dave | So, 14 would be a hit. |
| 01:14:25 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, excellent. I actually hit something. That's a d6 plus bard's bonus. That will be 6 points of damage as well. It's plus 1 to hit and damage. |
| 01:14:35 | Vulf - Pete B | Yes. |
| 01:14:36 | GM - Dave | That is enough for it to shatter back |
| 01:14:38 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I've got this. |
| 01:14:40 | GM - Dave | into… |
| 01:14:40 | Jestix - Tim | It's component part. |
| 01:14:41 | GM - Dave | the component parts, and that one disappears. |
| 01:14:44 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Oh, bugger. |
| 01:14:45 | GM - Dave | There's one less. |
| 01:14:46 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Each one of those is 12 points, we are going to be while. |
| 01:14:49 | Jestix - Tim | Not necessarily because it all combines to a 12-point monster. |
| 01:14:52 | GM - Dave | On its go 20, it will take its full round to try to reassemble itself, okay? |
| 01:14:57 | Vulf - Pete B | OK. |
| 01:14:58 | GM - Dave | And it will move forward 4 squares. Then it's a Vulf. |
| 01:15:04 | Vulf - Pete B | I finish doing my inspiration, but it lasts for five rounds, and I'm going to… Can I rage? |
| 01:15:10 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Take a potion of dragons breath and kill it. |
| 01:15:12 | Vulf - Pete B | If only I had one. |
| 01:15:13 | Mistress Fria - Howard | You have. We found 5, I gave one to everyone, and the rest are on the mule. |
| 01:15:18 | Vulf - Pete B | Maybe I wasn't there for that. |
| 01:15:19 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Remind me at some point to give you a potion of dragons breath. |
| 01:15:22 | Vulf - Pete B | Sorry, just checking to see whether or not my rage and being able to throw things is compatible. |
| 01:15:27 | GM - Dave | I don't think you can rage and throw. I don't think you can throw while raged. |
| 01:15:31 | Vulf - Pete B | That's all I'm just checking. Can't cast spells, can't use certain feats. Nope, I can. I think throwing something is quite within rage, anyway. |
| 01:15:40 | Jestix - Tim | Only if it's an empty bottle. |
| 01:15:41 | GM - Dave | And you do it in a Glaswegian accent. |
| 01:15:43 | Vulf - Pete B | So I'm going to rage, and I'm going to throw my axe. |
| 01:15:47 | GM - Dave | Total 12. Miss. |
| 01:15:48 | Vulf - Pete B | Okay. I missed bouncing off it's armour. |
| 01:15:50 | GM - Dave | Yep. Lómeril. |
| 01:15:51 | Jestix - Tim | Shoot it again. It's not got here yet. 14, 17. |
| 01:15:55 | GM - Dave | That's a hit. |
| 01:15:56 | Jestix - Tim | 9 damage. |
| 01:15:57 | GM - Dave | Ooh, that's pretty good. Still there, though. Jestix. |
| 01:16:00 | Jestix - Tim | Well, given I haven't got a ranged weapon, I will move to engage. |
| 01:16:04 | GM - Dave | Okay, it doesn't have a long range, so you can get there. |
| 01:16:08 | Jestix - Tim | And then I will Flurry of Blows it. |
| 01:16:10 | Vulf - Pete B | Isn't that part of a full round action? |
| 01:16:12 | GM - Dave | Yes, it is. |
| 01:16:13 | Jestix - Tim | In which case I'll just hit it normally. 13, 16, 17. |
| 01:16:17 | GM - Dave | 17 to hit. |
| 01:16:17 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 01:16:18 | GM - Dave | Hit. |
| 01:16:18 | Jestix - Tim | Doing 15 damage. |
| 01:16:21 | Vulf - Pete B | Crikey. |
| 01:16:21 | Mistress Fria - Howard | That'll hurt. |
| 01:16:22 | GM - Dave | 15 damage? |
| 01:16:24 | Vulf - Pete B | That's a lot of damage, Mr Monk. |
| 01:16:25 | Jestix - Tim | Yep. The advantage of having a Shillelagh. It becomes a d10 weapon. |
| 01:16:30 | Vulf - Pete B | Ooh. |
| 01:16:30 | Jestix - Tim | And a plus 1 d10 weapon at that. |
| 01:16:32 | Vulf - Pete B | Ooh. |
| 01:16:33 | GM - Dave | Wow, how much did you just do? |
| 01:16:35 | Jestix - Tim | 15. |
| 01:16:36 | GM - Dave | 15. So that's, um, just… |
| 01:16:39 | Vulf - Pete B | Bits of rock go flying everywhere. Magnificent blow. |
| 01:16:42 | GM - Dave | Yep, it does, again, shatter. |
| 01:16:45 | Mistress Fria - Howard | We've taken out one of his 6 lives. |
| 01:16:47 | GM - Dave | I think the combined is actually more than 20 that time. |
| 01:16:50 | Vulf - Pete B | It was. It was 24. |
| 01:16:53 | GM - Dave | So it loses two of its parts. |
| 01:16:56 | Jestix - Tim | At which point Henry then attacks one of the parts. |
| 01:16:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'll break his teeth and stones, poor little dog. |
| 01:17:01 | Jestix - Tim | But they're only small. He'll worry them. |
| 01:17:03 | GM - Dave | Go on, then. |
| 01:17:03 | Jestix - Tim | 22. |
| 01:17:04 | GM - Dave | Yes, that's a hit. |
| 01:17:05 | Jestix - Tim | Does the dog get your inspiration bonus? |
| 01:17:08 | Vulf - Pete B | Yeah, all allies. |
| 01:17:09 | Jestix - Tim | 5 damage. |
| 01:17:10 | Vulf - Pete B | I have to say, it's the first time I've really seen you in combat, in anger. Quite impressed with that blow, with your cudgel. |
| 01:17:15 | GM - Dave | Smash. Okay, Fria. |
| 01:17:17 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I will move my 5 feet to ensure that I have as clean a shot as I can. And I will shoot at this big one here, providing it's safe. |
| 01:17:27 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 01:17:27 | Mistress Fria - Howard | 11 plus 4, so that is 15 to hit. |
| 01:17:31 | GM - Dave | Hit. |
| 01:17:32 | Mistress Fria - Howard | My damage plus 1 is 5. One of the little guys. |
| 01:17:36 | Jestix - Tim | I thought you said it's a big guy. |
| 01:17:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | But I think of him as little. How big are they? |
| 01:17:40 | GM - Dave | The tiny one or the small one? |
| 01:17:42 | Mistress Fria - Howard | The small. The larger of the two. |
| 01:17:45 | GM - Dave | So that was 5, wasn't it? |
| 01:17:46 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 01:17:47 | GM - Dave | Okay, now beginning the next round. |
| 01:17:49 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Not the place to be, Henry. Vulf and Lómeril, did they move up? |
| 01:17:53 | Jestix - Tim | No, because they… |
| 01:17:54 | Mistress Fria - Howard | They'll be shooting. |
| 01:17:55 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 01:17:55 | GM - Dave | This one will move up and attack Jestix. This one will move and attack Vulf. These two will attack Henry. Okay, so Vulf's one does a slam attack against you. He's getting a 10. Jestix is going to do a slam attack against Jestix. Getting a 13, which is probably going to miss as well, isn't it? |
| 01:18:14 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. |
| 01:18:15 | GM - Dave | And Henry gets two slam attacks. A natural 1 and an 18. |
| 01:18:20 | Jestix - Tim | Which hits? |
| 01:18:21 | GM - Dave | Okay, this is a tiny one, isn't it? Which does a d3 minus 1 damage. Doing 2 points of damage. That's the end of the go. So Vulf, this will be the second or third of your thingy. |
| 01:18:34 | Vulf - Pete B | Yep. I attack. |
| 01:18:36 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 01:18:37 | Vulf - Pete B | 19, so that's going to hit. 11 damage. |
| 01:18:40 | GM - Dave | Okay, still there. Lómeril. |
| 01:18:42 | Jestix - Tim | Well, change weapons and hit it. |
| 01:18:44 | GM - Dave | He's currently within the attack area of something. So if he, um… |
| 01:18:49 | Vulf - Pete B | Well, it wasn't until somebody moved him up there. |
| 01:18:51 | GM - Dave | Ah, okay. So he's… So he still doesn't move. |
| 01:18:55 | Jestix - Tim | It will change weapons a move and a hit. |
| 01:18:57 | GM - Dave | Yeah, okay. I'll allow that. What's the point in having the speed draw feat then? If you're a fighter or you |
| 01:19:03 | Vulf - Pete B | Because if you wanted to throw multiple things in a round, for instance, or if you wanted to take out a second weapon, stuff like that. |
| 01:19:10 | GM - Dave | Or you don't have to move. |
| 01:19:12 | Vulf - Pete B | It's a free action, not part of a move action. |
| 01:19:15 | Jestix - Tim | That's a 20, which is a hit. |
| 01:19:17 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 01:19:18 | Jestix - Tim | Doing eight damage. |
| 01:19:19 | GM - Dave | Dead. Next to go is Jestix. |
| 01:19:23 | Jestix - Tim | I will Flurry of Blows the one nearest me. Getting a 20 on the first blow. |
| 01:19:29 | Vulf - Pete B | Rolled a 20? |
| 01:19:30 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. There's no point rolling it again because you can't crit them, and a miss on the second blow. |
| 01:19:35 | GM - Dave | Okay. |
| 01:19:36 | Jestix - Tim | And the first blow does 12. |
| 01:19:39 | GM - Dave | Yes, dead. |
| 01:19:40 | Jestix - Tim | And then Henry attacks one of the ones attacking him. Getting… I'll roll off a 17 to make an 8, which is a miss. |
| 01:19:48 | GM - Dave | Okay. The two remaining ones will attack Henry. |
| 01:19:51 | Vulf - Pete B | Doesn't the gnome get a go? |
| 01:19:53 | GM - Dave | No, sorry. We missed Fria. Sorry, apologies, Howard. |
| 01:19:56 | Vulf - Pete B | Fria of shoots, and misses, right, your go. |
| 01:20:00 | GM - Dave | The small two. So one got a natural 1. Followed by… Oh, just rolled off a 20. |
| 01:20:05 | Jestix - Tim | Yeah. Well, it seems fairly fair. Mine rolled off a 17. |
| 01:20:08 | GM - Dave | So that's natural 4. So that's two misses. Followed now by Vulf. |
| 01:20:13 | Vulf - Pete B | I shall move up and hit one of the ones on Henry. 19 to hit. |
| 01:20:17 | GM - Dave | That's a hit. |
| 01:20:18 | Vulf - Pete B | 10 damage. |
| 01:20:19 | GM - Dave | Dead. Lómeril. |
| 01:20:21 | Jestix - Tim | If he can get up and attack the other one, he will. |
| 01:20:24 | Vulf - Pete B | You can't get there, anyway. |
| 01:20:25 | Jestix - Tim | Getting a 1. |
| 01:20:26 | GM - Dave | That's a miss. Jestix. |
| 01:20:28 | Jestix - Tim | I will, if I can get it, I will attack it as well. |
| 01:20:31 | Vulf - Pete B | You may have to go round, but you've got loads of speed, haven't you? |
| 01:20:34 | Jestix - Tim | So normal attack. 5. And Henry attacks. Getting a 12. |
| 01:20:40 | GM - Dave | Miss. |
| 01:20:40 | Jestix - Tim | No, sorry, not 12. 13. Still not enough. 14. |
| 01:20:44 | Vulf - Pete B | He's going up all the time. |
| 01:20:45 | GM - Dave | Actually, I would guess Henry would probably have flanking. So that would be plus 2. |
| 01:20:50 | Jestix - Tim | 16. 6 damage. |
| 01:20:53 | GM - Dave | Dead. |
| 01:20:54 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I start having a look round. |
| 01:20:55 | Jestix - Tim | I will cast my cantrip on Henry, healing one point. |
| 01:21:00 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Did Henry get much for pounding? |
| 01:21:02 | Jestix - Tim | I've already cast it, so I can't do that. He took 2 points. |
| 01:21:05 | Vulf - Pete B | Hurrah! Victory! He let's out a bellow of |
| 01:21:08 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I have a look at the big book. The triptych. |
| 01:21:12 | GM - Dave | Okay, a triptych here is a three-part picture, Painting. |
| 01:21:15 | Jestix - Tim | It's not a block in the slightest. |
| 01:21:16 | Vulf - Pete B | of what, though? |
| 01:21:17 | Jestix - Tim | It's three religious pictures, normally. That's the point. |
| 01:21:20 | Vulf - Pete B | A triptych of something nice, or something dodgy? |
| 01:21:22 | Jestix - Tim | I wouldn't go running down there to look at the triptych straight away, because there may be more of these things popping out of the alcove. |
| 01:21:28 | Vulf - Pete B | I thought the triptych was here. |
| 01:21:29 | GM - Dave | Yes, it is. |
| 01:21:30 | Jestix - Tim | All right. Ok. I assumed it was the other end. |
| 01:21:32 | GM - Dave | You came into the room, you looked at it, and then looked at the creature's statue. |
| 01:21:35 | Jestix - Tim | Ok. So while he looks at it, I will carry on looking down the corner, waiting for some more beasties to pop out of the alcoves. |
| 01:21:42 | GM - Dave | It's made of three flat pieces of ebony, framed in copper, held with copper hinges. The triptych contains a map of the night sky with various small jewels holding the position of stars and planets. It's quite heavy. It's about 300 pounds. |
| 01:21:58 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Appraise |
| 01:21:59 | GM - Dave | Ok. |
| 01:22:00 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Vulf is actually better at appraising, I think. I will assist Vulf's appraise. |
| 01:22:06 | Vulf - Pete B | Well, if I were you, I would have roll. And you have a roll. |
| 01:22:11 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Then we'll discuss it. |
| 01:22:12 | Vulf - Pete B | argue about it. |
| 01:22:13 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Okay. My appraise roll is a |
| 01:22:16 | Vulf - Pete B | I'd get to 4. |
| 01:22:18 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I get a 6. |
| 01:22:19 | GM - Dave | It's a bit of junk, really. It looks impressive, but it isn't really. Yeah, why would someone put this piece of junk in this room? Obviously, it's a trap. |
| 01:22:28 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Ok. We've ignored so many artworks. Tapestry, just ignore it and move on. |
| 01:22:33 | Vulf - Pete B | If it's pretty big, then yeah. |
| 01:22:35 | GM - Dave | I mean, it's obviously paste. The gems are not real. |
| 01:22:37 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Yeah. |
| 01:22:38 | GM - Dave | You initially thought it was ebony, but actually it's just stained pine. |
| 01:22:41 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Just pine and boot polish. |
| 01:22:43 | GM - Dave | Yeah. |
| 01:22:43 | Jestix - Tim | I'm not entirely convinced by this. I will have my own assessment. |
| 01:22:46 | GM - Dave | Have you got appraise? |
| 01:22:48 | Jestix - Tim | Yep. 18. |
| 01:22:49 | GM - Dave | It could be as much as a 1000gp. |
| 01:22:52 | Vulf - Pete B | No way. |
| 01:22:53 | Jestix - Tim | Mentally, I agree with that, but I'm a Monk. I don't care. If they think it's tat, it's tat. I will tell them any differently. |
| 01:22:58 | GM - Dave | Serves them right for being avarice over wretches. |
| 01:23:01 | Jestix - Tim | Precisely. |
| 01:23:02 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you basically got little alcoves with where these things were. |
| 01:23:07 | Mistress Fria - Howard | Have a look round. |
| 01:23:08 | GM - Dave | But how detailed a search did you count? |
| 01:23:10 | Mistress Fria - Howard | I'll take 10. |
| 01:23:11 | GM - Dave | Okay, so you wander around the room, taking 10, you find nothing. |
| 01:23:17 | Tim | And so ends session five of the Dragon's Delve exploration. Join us next time as the adventure continues. |
