Summary of RPG Session

The Dark Temple – Session 2

Session Overview

This session follows the party as they delve deeper into a corrupted underground temple. Once a holy site, it has been desecrated into a place of blood and sacrifice. The heroes investigate the ruins, fight goblins, and uncover hints of the temple’s dark past.

Plot Summary

After gaining 350 XP from earlier encounters, the adventurers discuss loot and finances before pressing on. They discover a massive chamber whose architecture suggests ancient, non-human builders.

The group soon realizes the temple was repurposed from a fey or goodly shrine into a site of blood sacrifice. Behind torn red-and-black curtains lies an altar soaked in gore and the corpse of a sacrificed black dragon wyrmling, drained for its blood. The atmosphere is thick with anger and corruption.

* Mistress Fria collects scales and teeth from the wyrmling as magical components. * Lómeril determines the temple’s original purpose through a Knowledge check. * The group debates taking 20 on skill checks—typical table banter and humor.

Combat Encounter

The party advances into a grand hall, hearing goblins above on a raised balcony. Combat begins:

* Goblins hurl javelins as the heroes climb the stairs. * Fria lands a critical crossbow shot, dropping a foe. * Lómeril cleaves another goblin with his masterwork sword. * Jestix provides ranged support.

After several rounds, the group clears the balcony and secures the area.

Exploration & Discovery

Fria scouts ahead and discovers a tripwire alarm trap linking two doors—likely a goblin warning system. She disables it successfully.

Meanwhile, Lómeril and Jestix explore a side room and uncover:

  • A bottle of old wine
  • A yellowed page from the butler’s diary, referencing the *“dark temple below the ground”* and the *“North Tower.”*

These clues suggest a connection between the dungeon and ancient surface ruins.
