Summary 107: toward the Shrieking Cells (2014-01-20)

Giraine Summaries

Hi all,

You hacked through the cyanotic zombies in quick fashion, although Maugis took a nasty scratch to the calf, and for a few moments Cyroosta and even Inyana were beset by encircling undead. Maugis demonstrated his skill with the staff nonetheless, tripping all three of his rotting foes although one grabbed his staff and almost wrenched it away.

You then continued through the dark cleft, which sloped downwards and became more of a cavern, leading underground. Soon you were in a wide cave bedecked with stalactites, which were eerie reminders of the hanging corpses from the entry canyon- were these older remnants, now petrified? You did not take time to find out, but Boamund's keen eyes once again served you well: he spotted glinting demonic eyes, then furtive moments flanking you: it was a group of six demons, three of them hideous horse-like humanoids with claws and fangs, and three of them even more disturbing gaunt grey things with blood-sucking proboscis leading to red sacks on their backs. They were more fearsome and cunning than the zombies, but your might was too much for them. Inyana suffered some blood loss, but soon the demons all lay slain by your team efforts. The Sailor/Captain was curiously distracted when Cyroosta needed help, but rushed to aid Maugis in his time of need.

And so you came through that large cave to a solid, old masonry wall, in which two great, ancient bronze doors were set. The doors bore central skull bas-relief images surrounded by worn runes of unclear origin. Beyond the doors you hear screams of torment, one of them sounding like King Froalar/Baronet Shaven's own voice… was your quest nearing its climax at the Shrieking Cells? An ominous feeling of dread at what lay beyond hinted to the affirmative.
